.....that aren't about whether you ABU?

Seriously, there are soooooo many topics to choose from on here and people just use this and then don't even have a question that even remotely begs the question AIBU?

So AIBU?

OP posts:
ClaireDeLoon · 17/01/2011 22:21

YANBU

mutznutz · 17/01/2011 22:22

I don't care really.

Most of the AIBU's you do see tend to end with that question but it's mostly clear the OP doesn't really want to know...they just want to let off steam lol.

FabbyChic · 17/01/2011 22:23

Far better to have more topics than nothing to post on.

People post here because it's high traffic.

Doesn't bother me.

So

YABU

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 22:26

YABU, people can post what they like, where they like.

I only go on AIBU and chat, I don't have time to look at all the other topics, and the couple of times I've posted in other areas there have only been one or two answers.

mutznutz · 17/01/2011 22:28

I admit I've never actually looked at any of the other MN areas Blush

Mumcentreplus · 17/01/2011 22:29

So you add to them?... Grin

GelflinGirl · 17/01/2011 22:29

chat?? wheres chat? oh and yabu because id rather have some thing to read than nothing on this bit and they make me laugh regardless

WannabeNigella · 17/01/2011 22:31

Tonight there is yet another breast is best/formula is crap thread - yet again it is the same old slanting match that should be in the breast feeding subject and can then be avoided by people who don't want to get involved in what is best this month.

There is also a thread asking if someone has stayed at a hotel?!?!?!?! I've used the short haul topic on many occasions and got loads of responses.

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 22:32

Chat, sometimes like AIBU, but without the spitting and kicking Grin

MumCentrePlus - I am asking the question AIBU?

I'm not saying can someone recommend where I can buy a matching bra and knicker set. That would be in "style"

OP posts:
NW20 · 17/01/2011 22:33

I find it a bit annoying, people post stupid things like, AIBU to fancy so and so, AIBU to eat 4 biscuits before dinner, AIBU to think the sky is blue.
I honestly don't know how people can be bothered to even respond to them, but they do.

On another note, how do people actually view the forums? I just click on the active discussions link on the home page which brings up a whole page of threads from every topic, but I guess if the AIBU bit is the highest viewed that's why everyone posts every inane question there.

WannabeNigella · 17/01/2011 22:35

MonkeyJamTart - I am asking AIBU to be sick of the blah blah blah? You reply with whether I am or not.

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 22:36

Does that mean we're in a parallel universe monkey?

I thought it was just me having a shite day.

WannabeNigella · 17/01/2011 22:37

NW20 I use either last 15 mins or last hour ao I get all the active ones too, never just click on a topic.

I also use "unanswered" to see if I can sometimes help someone who hasn't yet had a response and "bump" them at the same time.

OP posts:
GelflinGirl · 17/01/2011 22:40

Thank you zigzag can you tell me how to find it myself cos ive looked and cant see it lol

Astrophe · 17/01/2011 22:42

OP it irritates me too. For no good reason really. But it does irritae me when people bend a question into an AIBU when it isn't one really, eg
"AIBU to wonder whether I might be pregnant"
"AIBU to ask you all whether you know where I can buy a green leather sofa".

NW20 · 17/01/2011 22:44

That's why I only look on active discussions, cos they are all, well active!

Some of the AIBU posts I really feel like replying "who f*cking cares????" but I don't because I am far too nice and polite! Grin

NW20 · 17/01/2011 22:45

Apostrophe that just made me laugh out loud!

NW20 · 17/01/2011 22:46

Ooh sorry Astrophe. It's late!

Astrophe · 17/01/2011 22:47

I always want to reply "No, I think that is a reasonable thing to ask. You should do it. In the 'products' section"

GingerGlitterGoddess · 17/01/2011 22:48

I don't know if YABU really because I once posted the same question in the appropriate topic of 'site stuff' - so YANBU to think it, but YABU to post in AIBU about it. Confused Grin

Anyway, I agree with you regardless, maybe we are both BU

GingerGlitterGoddess · 17/01/2011 22:48

Or not.

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 22:49

Topics on the top right of the page under mumsnet talk, then under fun and games Gelflin.

Perhaps you should have posted in pedants corner OP? Or Site Stuff?

Because it's people fitting the subject of their thread into an am I being unreasonable question, rather than really wondering whether they are, and that is kind what you've done.

I've done it as well, but then I don't get annoyed at where and what people post.
