.....that aren't about whether you ABU?

Seriously, there are soooooo many topics to choose from on here and people just use this and then don't even have a question that even remotely begs the question AIBU?

So AIBU?

OP posts:

yanbu - I have long thought this (and have, in fact pondered posting it) often on active convos more than half of them are AIBU. on every possible imaginale subject. it almost renders the whole idea of having subject areas redundant.

(Opps, thanks DD2)

Just while we're here whinging, the way every one of the 'discussions of the day' (top right) has a question mark at the end of it irritaes me every day.

YANBU.Bugs me too

NW20 · 17/01/2011 23:05

Astrophe yes!! I agree!

And you know what else annoys me!? How MN doesn't have that function where you can go to a thread you have previously read, and go to the first new post that you haven't read, at the click of a button.
It's annoying that if you are reading a 30 page long thread and then go to bed, you have to try and remember what page you were on, or trawl through the whole thing to get back to wear you were!

Completely off topic there though so sorry!

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 23:06

Chat is good if you want to post but are feeling a bit delicate, posters are much more gentle if you're actually being unreasonable Smile

BitOfFun · 17/01/2011 23:07

You can click to bookmark your place though, NW20.

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 23:07

I have just had a good housekeeping thread of all things, go all AIBU, so maybe people are creeping outwards with their daftness.

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 23:09

You can do that NW20, I'm on the mumsnet new version and can bookmark and save the last post I read.

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/01/2011 23:10

Yanbu. Annoys me just because.

AmIBeingUnreasonable to ask for your best tuna pasta bake recipe?

AmIBeingUnreasonable to ask if you've been to x campsite?

AmIBeingUnreasonable to wax my minge?

FFS!

It makes the posters who do this look spectacularly DIM and I usually ignore them or post a sarcastic comment.

And I don't care.

NW20 · 17/01/2011 23:11

Ooooh oooh oooh how do I bookmark my page??

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 23:14

Hover your curser around the bottom right of the post and a little blue bookmark button appears NW.

ILovedYou · 17/01/2011 23:14

YADBVU - this s yet another useless post

Bored are ya? Grin

NW20 · 17/01/2011 23:16

Not working :-(

NW20 · 17/01/2011 23:19

Another one: "To have a massive crush on Mahsood out of EastEnders"

WHO CARES????
Although a few people seem to!

AgentZigzag · 17/01/2011 23:19

If you go into customise NW, the 'Mumsnet New' version should be checked (not sure if it works on other versions).

The other good one is underneath the version you're on, saying yes to the 'Highlight posts by the thread author' which shades the OPs answers, makes it much easier to read.

MardyBra · 17/01/2011 23:29

YANBU. It also means that too much traffic goes through AIBU at the expense of other valid areas.

But I'd be interested to know what AIBI stands for?

Am I Being Interesting?
Am I Being Icky?
Am I Being Incompetent?
Am I Being Irrational?
Am I Being Impudent?
Am I Being Impotent?
Am I Being Insane?

HelenaCC · 17/01/2011 23:52

OP YANBU, I don't like fake AIBUs or ones that blatantly go into a topic (e.g sleep or weaning) where they could be looked at later as a sort of knowledge repository (guess that's just my orderly mind eh?). It's irritating when the OP defends the misposting as using AIBU because it's 'high traffic'. Tho' it is a very broad subject and nice to get a wide range of grievances. I particularly enjoyed one recent thread that should really have been in relationships, but equally fitted on here, made for a funnier post tho' bit of a shame for the OP to be judged and found wanting!
