my best friend is getting married in 7months and im a bridesmaid, i agreed before i got pregnant and had no idea how having baby changes things!
im already leaving dd (she will b 8months old)to go to stay with her for 5 days for dress fittin rehearsals etc and then again for the wedding 3weeks later (she lives in jersey and cant get same day flights).
i have always had VERY short hair, it suits me and its easy to control. before i had ds i agreed to grow it a bit but i have two big family occasions in the next 6weeks and my hair is a mess. i mentioned i was having it cut (just tidied not shaved or anything!!) and she flipped...am i being unreasonable to go ahead with the cut??

No you are definately not being unreasonable.

She is.

BarbieLovesKen · 16/01/2011 21:06

Shes being a lunatic!!!

pippylongstockings · 16/01/2011 21:15

Ahhhh bridezilla - I remember turning up for my BF wedding having had my hair cut into very sharp bob - she went very very quiet, as it had been a shoulder length layered cut - then she cried alot 'why hadn't I told her that I was getting it re-styled?'

Crazy as we were all wearing flapperstyle dresses, so I thought my new hair style suited BUT she wanted us to all have long hair in waves.....

It's your hair - your head. Surely she wants you as her bridesmaid not your hair....

LittleBeads · 16/01/2011 21:18

If you want to get your hair cut - get it cut.
(I guess your 8 mth old isn't going to the wedding either then)

parakeet · 16/01/2011 21:26

She's being a loon.

Pleeeease go ahead with the cut. Then say to her that if she no longer wants you as a bridesmaid, you'll understand. Could make your life a lot easier if she sacks you!

Booandpops · 16/01/2011 21:40

Lordie. I'm a wedding photographer and seen it all!! Total bridezilla and I do hope Yr dd is going to the wedding! Get your hair cut however you like.

bupcakesandcunting · 16/01/2011 21:45

WTF?! Seriously? You need to ask?

YAMDNBU!

Newgolddream · 16/01/2011 21:46

Have to agree with the Bridezilla comments lol. When I got married I had my best friend as my 1 and only Bridesmaid - the only person I wanted for the "job" - short hair and all. It was her presence I wanted, not long hair and what I imagined would look better in the photos! As it is - whats wrong with short hair anyway??

LittleBeads · 16/01/2011 21:50

It reminds me of a bride I know who insisted the bridesmaids all went on sunbeds.
I'd say no.

EricNorthmansMistress · 16/01/2011 22:01

What a fucking loon. Don't you dare not cut your hair!

IDontThinkSoDoYOU · 16/01/2011 22:32

She's definitely being a loon but prob very stressed about her big day. You're going to have to say your piece but cut her some slack, she just wants what she sees as the perfect day the way she has pictured it.
She's still your best mate at the end of the day so be kind and say something like "I gotta cut my hair, it's killing me, I know you didn't want it that way but I am doing it, sorry, love you, want some wine?"

Can you tell I was that bridezilla?

imissmypiercings · 16/01/2011 22:49

booandpops Dd not goin wedding, which is prob a good thing because if my bf is stressing now about my hair she will b nightmare on the day and my dd would prefer to be with her nanny gettin spoiled!!
I'm goin for the cut...normally i dye my hair a different colour every 4 weeks and i have been/will be going natural for her big day, and i wont be goin as short/extreme as normal.
maybe when she see's how much of a mess i look now she will cut me some slack...
thanks everyone, she had me feeling like a bit of a selfish biatch!!

Ooh a bridezilla thread!

Do you actually feel happy with leaving your baby for 5 days? Fine if you do but there's no way I could, is she making you do it?

She is going WOTT, FFS it is your hair! Don't you dare not get it cut!

I daresay this nightmare woman would think I was mental, one of my bridesmaids wore TROUSERS

Booandpops · 16/01/2011 23:33

You sound very laid back and cool considering your not taking your dd and all. She would be very lucky to hAve you as a bridesmaid.

Dolcegusto · 16/01/2011 23:47

Bride is clearly nuts.

Although I did hear of a bride who bought gym memberships for her bridesmaids so they'd be 'in top condition' for the big day.

Scuttlebutter · 16/01/2011 23:55

Ha, she sounds bonkers! Unless you are wearing a Follies style 5 foot headdress featuring ostrich plumes and half a tonne of rhinestones that needs to be anchored onto your tresses, she's BU. You could turn up with a Carmen Miranda style turban adorned with half a basket of fruit salad.. or alteratively a medieval style ice cream cone with a wafty veil. Sorry, am feeling evil. Grin

Pumpster · 16/01/2011 23:59

Get your hair cut. What a control freak!

blinks · 17/01/2011 00:04

cut it super short but have a reeeally long rats tail extention put in at the back...

that'll REALLY get her going.

Deciduousblonde · 17/01/2011 00:06

Count yourself lucky.

My sister disn't want me as a bridesmaid because I looked like a heifer and would ruin the photos.

I had a lucky escape Wink

PlanetLizard · 17/01/2011 00:36

YANBU

Or you could turn up in this wig. And ask her to pay for it.

She gets no say in how you wear your hair.

Are you really going to leave an 8 month old baby for 5 days for dress fittings?

You're nearly as mad as she is :)

Goodynuff · 17/01/2011 04:50

She can always buy you a wig for the day Grin
