This morning I opened...

"To a dear Sister in Law at Christmas"

Enough said?

wahwahwah · 21/12/2010 17:16

Who was it from?

doneit · 21/12/2010 17:17

My sister in law, sorry to sound like an ungrateful bitch but it's the most hideous card and the only reason she chose it is because of the wording..

piratecatClaus · 21/12/2010 17:17

havent the faintest what you are on about tbh

Talker2010 · 21/12/2010 17:19

Not unreasonable at all

My MiL sends a card to Son and DiL and that annoys me too

Hulababy · 21/12/2010 17:19

I take it you don't have a good relationship with your SIL?

MassiveKnobOfBrandyButter · 21/12/2010 17:19

so your sister in law sent a card to her sister in law? which happened to be you. And?

ChippyMinTurnAgainWhittington · 21/12/2010 17:21

YABU
She went to the bother of trawling the market/poundland for a card with the correct wording.
FIL sends us one every year - to dear son and daughter-in-law, it does make me chuckle, but is given with the utmost sincerity.

porcamiseria · 21/12/2010 17:21

dont be spiteful

doneit · 21/12/2010 17:22

Ok probably am being unreasonable but these cards make me shudder Grin

OP posts:
MissFit · 21/12/2010 17:23

I don't get it.....

MrsGetoutClaus · 21/12/2010 17:23

She sounds like a complete and utter bitch, how dare she wish you a merry christmas?! What is wrong with people at this time of year? I hate 'em. Burn the card and an effigy of her next time she comes round or, you never know, she might even start bringing GIFTS or that goodwill shit.

LaWeaselMys · 21/12/2010 17:23

I don't get it.

It's a card.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/12/2010 17:28

It sounds like an appropriate card to me.

greenbananas · 21/12/2010 17:30

YABU. Not everyone has the same tastes.

thx1138 · 21/12/2010 17:31

She chose it for the words. My MIL in does this and even goes to the effort of underlining certain words for emphasis. Although I don't chose that type of card myself I really do appreciate the sentiment because I love my MIL and I know she loves me.

I think you are being U and petty.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 21/12/2010 17:31

YANBU those cards are unspeakably naff!

catchafallingstar · 21/12/2010 17:31

Don't get it either.
We have received to a dear son and daughter on law- is there some slight in this that I am missing?

Alambil · 21/12/2010 17:32

I've totally missed the boat on this one. WtF is wrong with sending a card to your sil that happens to denote the fact that it's to your sil? I got one for my sister and bil.... they love it.

messylittlemonkey · 21/12/2010 17:34

Sorry, wht's your point?

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 21/12/2010 17:35

You don't like it because it's naff or because you see her every day? I happen to think that cards with that kind of specific wording, christmas cards to people you live with and anything from Hallmark are all horrible but I imagine I am in the minority.

I quite miss those padded sateen ones I used to get from teenage boyfriends. You could tell how much they loved you by the size of the card.

MassiveKnobOfBrandyButter · 21/12/2010 17:36

They are not my cup of tea, something i would never buy, but she probably meant well.

clam · 21/12/2010 17:36

"Who was it from?"

ROFL!! Nice one, wahwah! Xmas Grin

Pancakeflipper · 21/12/2010 17:38

Is there a snobbery that I have missed about sister-in-law cards?

I don't receive this type of card because my SIL never sends cards.

I do hope you inform your SIL about your outrage and disgust at having to receive such a card. And I hope she sends you a huge padded one next year.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 21/12/2010 17:38

Yep, I am definitely being snobby!

whoknowswhatthefutureholds · 21/12/2010 17:39

my dh does these. I hate them but havent the heart to tell him (why oh why didnt I 11 years ago!).

We have VERY different tastes.
Our house could be best described as a collision of culture.
