Why use corn chips as croutons when you can just buy croutons Xmas Confused

I [heart] Nigella. MN towers - can we have her on a web chat?

What's all this about croutons then?

walkinginaWUKTERwonderland · 12/12/2010 00:47

Why waste all that time twirling your hair for the camera when you could just stir the damn sauce at be done with it?

oliviacrumble · 12/12/2010 00:49

Indeed. you could well ask 'Why use tiny cubes of roast potatoes as croutons in a caeser salad?'

But that didn't stop her suggesting it 10 yrs ago, in 'How to Eat'.

MrManager · 12/12/2010 00:51

WWW but then she looks sensual...

Suncottage · 12/12/2010 01:41

I have met her several times when she was engaged to her first husband John Diamond and they were very touchingly in love.

He was also a great guy and very obviously adored her.

A truly lovely person and very genuine.

In an odd coincidence though I lived opposite her current husband's house in London in the early 90's.

Weird.

I want her fridge though. Xmas Envy

lady007pink · 12/12/2010 14:37

She's around the same age as Gillian McKeith.
No mung beans for Nigella, but she looks 20 years younger than poor Gillian!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 12/12/2010 14:39

I have gammon bubbling away in cherry coke, thanks to Nigella!

TragicallyHip · 12/12/2010 14:50

Don't get me wrong she seems like a lovely person and has great cooking ideas. The gammon in coke is really yum but that wasn't originally her recipe. Roast potato croutons sound good too!

What I meant was she was using corn chips as quick croutons when it is just as quick to use a packet of croutons..

Yes it's madness to think she is the same age as Gillian!

She is ... eccentric. thats for sure. they way she talks , even about normal things is all o.t.t.
she does seem to be on a different planet, in a funny kind of way.

happychappy · 12/12/2010 14:53

Sometimes another planet is the only way to survive.

TragicallyHip · 12/12/2010 14:54

Yes she is eccentric, which is the main reason I watch her show...she cracks me up!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 12/12/2010 14:54

blimey the gillian/nigella comparison is a shocker isn't it?

I like Nigella too, though dh and I do like to watch her show just to mock...I think she probably is a nice person in rl. though thats a total guess on my part, she could be a total twat for all I know Grin

TragicallyHip · 12/12/2010 14:58

I love the way she describes the food. Like thinking a bunch of garlic would make a great bridal bouquet Xmas Grin

She is clearly very intelligent and not afraid to do her own thing. Yes, she does say some bizarre things - still sniggering about the 'hauntingly briny' olives from Nigella Express, as well as the inner thigh wobble of a cheesecake - but one of the reasons I do enjoy her books is the purple prose, just as much as the recipes themselves. God bless her and all who sail in that wonderful pantry of hers!

Francagoestohollywood · 12/12/2010 15:08

She is eccentric, but I love eccentric people!

SpringHeeledJack · 12/12/2010 15:17

she makes cooking look like a fun and vaguely intellectual pastime- instead of the domestic drudgery I know it to be in my heart

she's fabby

geraldinetheluckygoat · 12/12/2010 15:39

I love how she shakes her head at some private amusing thought every time she goes to get something out the fridge. Grin

BerylStreep · 12/12/2010 22:15

In fairness to Gillian McKeith, I doubt she has seen much botox action.

FunnysInTheGarden · 12/12/2010 22:18

Nigella sounds like she's just come everytime she puts a finger full of something delicious in her gob. An absolute soft porn hoot is her Sat am show

MollieO · 12/12/2010 22:20

Beryl I was just thinking the same. Most of Nigella's face looks unable to move.

Pinner35 · 12/12/2010 22:21

I heart Nigella too. A bit of a tenuous link, but several a few years ago, the daughters of my then boss went to school with Nigella's children. Apparently, she is a lovely lovely person but no-one had a good work to say about Mr Saatchi.

panettoinydog · 12/12/2010 22:25

slightly?

poshsinglemum · 12/12/2010 23:05

She has such an amazing way with words. I want to be her friend and share lots of yummy suppers with her. I also want to raid her pantry.

woolymindy · 12/12/2010 23:07

I would drink that woman's bath water......
