To think this Ebayer is being unreasonable?

Sold a baby snowsuit and she was the winning bidder.

The auction ended on saturday and I posted the item on Monday afternoon so it should be with her in the next few days.

She has just sent me a snotty email asking when it will arrive.

Surely nobody can seriously expect something to turn up so quickly? especially not in the few weeks before Christmas.

Haven't replied yet because I am seriously hormonal today and I'm very likely to send an even snottier email back!!

why not just reply

"It was posted on Monday. Regards."

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 08/12/2010 09:20

Just respond and provide tracking details and say you posted it on Monday.

she's clearly hormonal

kreecherlivesupstairs · 08/12/2010 09:21

She is. Surely the snow will delay the post, and while she probably wants it to wear in the snow, she can't speed it up.
Silly mare.

Serendippy · 08/12/2010 09:21

Maybe she is used to people sending things same day? Just reply stating that you posted Monday afternoon and which class and leave it at that.

MemooMerrilyOnHigh · 08/12/2010 09:21

Because Hec I am in a grumpy mood! I will of course be polite but grrrr

A snotty email is totally out of order - it was more than reasonable for you to post on Monday, anyway - that is within 1 working day. On many auctions the seller states that they post twice a week only.

I expect her baby doesn't have a snow suit and she's desperate for it but that isn't your problem.

CrazyChristmasLady · 08/12/2010 09:29

Don't get snotty, don't forget she can leave you negative feedback but you can't even leave neutral.

Just tell her it was posted Monday and there may be some delays due to the weather.

Someone contacted me yesterday as the item I posted Monday last week hasn't arrived yet so post is obviously taking a while to arrive.

MrManager · 08/12/2010 09:32

Please define "snotty" - if there wasn't any info at the time of the purchase, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a delivery estimate.

SparkleSoiree · 08/12/2010 09:34

Ebay do have a banner on their site at the moment (I think I saw it when leaving feedback) asking people to be mindful of weather conditions when considering delivery times.

smellyfeet · 08/12/2010 09:37

Did you mark the item as posted? And did you state in your listing how many days after you would post?

Its often all about communication and emails/messages can get misinterpreted.

LadyBiscuit · 08/12/2010 09:41

What did she actually write? I don't think it's unreasonable of her to ask when she can expect it and I think you should reply - politely - saying you posted it on Monday. Don't just ignore it, that's just being petty.

MemooMerrilyOnHigh · 08/12/2010 09:42

I did mark it as posted on Monday Evening.

Her mail simply said "Have you posted this yet? Only I want it soon?"

No please or thank you

OP posts:
MemooMerrilyOnHigh · 08/12/2010 09:44

I wouldn't mind her asking when it might arrive, it just her message is far from polite. Maybe I am over sensitive but I hate people with no manners

OP posts:
Longtinsellyjosie · 08/12/2010 09:48

Just say - "it was posted on Monday morning, within one working day"

LadyBiscuit · 08/12/2010 09:49

Oh yes, that is very rude indeed. I would just reply with 'Posted on Monday'.

Not that polite but not really rude either

SparkleSoiree · 08/12/2010 09:49

I often find with ebay messages that email etiquette goes out the window, seriously. I would not necessarily take it as her being snotty, rather just trying to obtain some information with as few words as possible. They don't have smileys on their system! Smile

TandB · 08/12/2010 09:54

English may not be her first language given the slightly odd phrasing.

SpotSplatterSplash · 08/12/2010 10:16

Just a slight hijack, how long would you expect a parcel to take to arrive from America?

I bought DH some aftershave 3 weeks ago and still no sign of it. The customer service I have received has been terrible and I am getting slightly worried...

memphis83 · 08/12/2010 10:20

i posted a parcel last monday 1st class and it still hasnt arrived, if she wanted a snowsuit quickly with weather and xmas delaying the post she should have gone and bought one from a shop!!

SparkleSoiree · 08/12/2010 10:25

Spotsplattersplash - it depends on when it was posted and if the customs criteria are met.

Have they confirmed it has been despatched and via whom?

SpotSplatterSplash · 08/12/2010 11:10

Sparklesoiree - This is what I received when I inquired yesterday;

Thank you for your email. Please note
that your order shipped on November 15th by postal service airmail and is
in transit.

Some shipments may be delayed by security in customs, and we apologize for
this delay. Your package is on its way and will arrive soon; however, we do
not have any tracking information. We appreciate your patience and look
forward to serving you again soon.

I suspect DH won't be getting a Christmas present Confused

SparkleSoiree · 08/12/2010 11:12

So 23 days since it was shipped? I have received things within the week from the States but I have also received something that has taken nearly a month...

Give it this week and see if anything transpires..
