To think this Ebayer is being unreasonable?

Sold a baby snowsuit and she was the winning bidder.

The auction ended on saturday and I posted the item on Monday afternoon so it should be with her in the next few days.

She has just sent me a snotty email asking when it will arrive.

Surely nobody can seriously expect something to turn up so quickly? especially not in the few weeks before Christmas.

Haven't replied yet because I am seriously hormonal today and I'm very likely to send an even snottier email back!!

Spot, what is their feedback like? If in doubt, check how long you have to open a Paypal dispute, don't let that time expire while you are waiting on delivery!

It's not from Ebay, it's from a fragrance company. I paid by cc.

Op I am really sorry for hijacking, perhaps I should have started a new conversation somewhere...

picmaestress · 08/12/2010 12:24

My ebay stuff is currently taking at least 10 days to arrive. She sounds rude, but some people are just like that on email. Don't take it personally, for her it's just a business transaction.

My US deliveries have taken anything up to 6 weeks before...they get held forever in customs.

electra · 08/12/2010 12:41

I've just waited 10 working days to get my Boden parcel - I had nearly given up and assumed lost in post. OP, I think you should not give this another thought - the buyer has been very rude - just forget about her.

Remember the postal strike last year? In London we had tons of post hanging around in the sorting offices for weeks before it arrived.

So I had this really snotty letter from a subscriber who said my admin service was less than satisfactory and that I'd cost him the price of a stamp for the letter of complaint he'd sent. (He could have phoned). Because he'd got a second reminder about his sub being due. Wrote and explained, saying it wasn't my admin that was at fault and that, yes, I had received his cheque some five weeks after he'd posted it. Did I then get a letter of apologies for accusing me of incompetance?
What do you think?

lololizzy · 08/12/2010 23:25

I've been a seller for years and often get emails like this. Very rude and abrupt. The worst kind..merely saying 'where is my item' or from abroad, 'where my item????' lol even though listing ended a few days before. Unfortunately you have to answer back politely or risk negative feedback (my pet gripe about eBay...that buyer can manipulate/bully/blackmail the seller, yet seller can't leave them neg FB!!!) i always leave short to the point messages back.

Tryharder · 08/12/2010 23:31

I got left a neutral feedback the other day - because although she liked the items, they took a while getting to her (I am quoting her). I posted it the day after she paid and RM took about a week to deliver (it was send SP as over 1 kg so within their time remit). Some people are just unreasonable...

I would send an ultra polite and friendly email just to make her feel bad about the snotty message

TrailMix · 08/12/2010 23:43

Her question's certainly not politely worded, I agree, but then again it's not mean-spirited or accusatory or bad-tempered, either. Which buyers can be. Stop having a strop and just message her it was posted on Monday. Ignoring her for hours on end doesn't say much for your customer service.

I love eBay sellers who message me to say an item has been posted. If I'm in a hurry for something, it's more reassuring than just seeing it marked as posted.

ShoppingDays · 09/12/2010 00:06

You can post a comment under the neutral feedback to explain what happened. "Apologies for snow delaying delivery" or something.

Cadpat · 09/12/2010 03:42

SpotSplatterSplash, about your hijack. It depends if the aftershave has alcohol in it or not. If it does, it will take a while at customs. Found this little quirk out while trying to get a perfume shipped from UK to Canada.

SpotSplatterSplash · 09/12/2010 15:34

Thanks Cadpat, it most probably does... will wait a bit longer Sad

Galena · 09/12/2010 15:42

I always add a comment on my ebay purchases asking the seller to send me a message when it has been dispatched. Sometimes I've forgotten and been pleasantly surprised by a message anyway.

If you intend selling much on ebay, may I suggest that you send a message once you have dispatched - I'm much more likely to leave 5 stars for communication if I have had a message!

On another note, I ordered a CD at the weekend, and it arrived yesterday, complete with a Christmas card 'To Galena, from and ' Really odd!

EricNorthpolesChristmas · 09/12/2010 16:18

But Galena there is a function to 'mark as dispatched' on any item sold so a message is unnecessary.

Why doesn't ebay allow you to make it obvious when a buyer is a timewaster? I had someone fail to pay once and fail to respond to emails, I had to open a dispute and wait ages before I was allowed to list it again, and the 'buyer' didn't get so much as a black mark against them. In fact it kept prompting me to leave feedback and would only give me the option of positive! i use ebay for buying and selling and the changes are a bit bonkers.

Galena · 09/12/2010 17:12

I know there is, but I don't check my ebay summary every day to check if it has been dispatched yet - while any messages are sent to my email account which I check several times a day. I just prefer it. However, if a seller didn't message me and just marked it as dispatched I wouldn't complain, but I probably wouldn't give 5 stars for communication, particularly if I'd asked them to message me.
