To complain to neighbour

Anenome · 01/10/2010 09:50

My neighbour keeps her very bright lights on in her conservatory all night...my bedroom window is right next to it and it shines in all night.

I know I probaby am bu. but I like to sleep with the window open and the curtans partially drawn....I hate a stuffy room. Her bloddy light shines in all night! Plus her 4 cats crap on my front lawn.

So....tell me if I'm a moaning cow or not please.

I would mention it because it would probably not be putting her out to ask her to turn them off. Not sure about the cats though...

kreecherlivesupstairs · 01/10/2010 10:01

Why would you have such bright lights on all night? As far as the cats go, kick them. We have a cat issue so you have all my sympathy.

OrmRenewed · 01/10/2010 10:02

Yes complain! I'd hate having a bright light like that shining into my bedroom.

newwave · 01/10/2010 10:20

In the case of the cats I have some spare half bricks if you need them :)

As for the lights just ask, it would be unreasonable for them to refuse.

I would just go and ask her about it rather than complaining iyswim

When people feel criticised they get defensive so just go and say 'wonder if you would mind me asking - do you know you leave your lights on, is there a reason? Its just .....'

Leave the cat crap thing or buy a dog Grin

DiscoSquish · 01/10/2010 10:38

I'd talk to her nicely about the light, she may not realise it's an issue for you. As for the cat thing, not a lot you can do really but apparently lion poo is effective :)

wastingaway · 01/10/2010 10:41

You can get stuff to put on your lawn to deter the cats. Also you can shoot them with a water pistol to scare them off. (RSPB approved!)

Definitely ask her about the lights though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/10/2010 10:46

Isnt RSPB the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds? Grin Confused

wastingaway · 01/10/2010 10:47

Yes. Grin

Anenome · 01/10/2010 11:19

wastinaway...that stuff just gets washed away with the rain...and needs doing everyy few days...and it's expensive!

The lawn is at the front so I dont see the cats in the act...they do it at night!

catherinewho · 01/10/2010 11:21

YABU just close your curtains and leave the window open.

wastingaway · 01/10/2010 11:25

You could plant some prickly plants.

I hate cats. Other people's pets shouldn't cause me dirty work. Angry

Anenome · 01/10/2010 12:12

The plants would have to be all over the lawn! It's a frnt lawn....grass...and large.

Paint her conservatory windows with blackout paint Grin

Walters83 · 01/10/2010 14:14

YANBU

Turning off some lights is not really going to affect them is it? Plus she will save on the lecy bills and will help save the planet.

Everyone's a winner!

jameelaq · 01/10/2010 16:54

Shoot the cats

mamatomany · 01/10/2010 17:10

Why is it acceptable on MN to kick or shoot cats but if you roughly manhandled the dog chewing on your baby's face you'd be burnt at the stake ?

wastingaway · 01/10/2010 17:14

It's not acceptable to kick cats. Shooting them with a water pistol however is fine.

And dogs can fuck off too. I hate dog shit more than cat shit and I really hate cat shit.

jameelaq · 01/10/2010 17:16

I wouldn't say it is. If a dog did that to my baby I would cut the dog's head off

jameelaq · 01/10/2010 17:39

It is acceptable to shoot cats where I come from.

jameelaq · 01/10/2010 17:40

and wolves

ditavonteesed · 01/10/2010 17:40

from anooying light to animal abuse in less than a page, nice.
op, just ask about the light they prob don't realise.

wastingaway · 01/10/2010 17:42

It is fine to shoot water pistols at cats.
Not for fun.
