fucking hell! decided to "treat myself" to a deep clean as am due DC2 next week

a 90 year old Bulgarian has rocked up, nearly 1 hour in she has cleaned 2 cupboards and the whole place fucking stinks of CIF

it has taken her 40 to clean 2 cupboards. I can clean the house in 40 mins

and she does not speak English

rant over, what a fucking waste of £50

domeafavour · 17/08/2010 10:55

!!!!
how long is she booked for, sounds like she will be there for a week!

IlooklikeGrotbagstoday · 17/08/2010 10:56

Wow £50! Did you go through an agency? I would complain and get them to send someone to do the job you asked for.

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 10:57

I am fucking FUMING

shed doesw not even speak English, so when I say to use less of the fucking CIF as I will die of chemical poisen she looks at me blankly

Doodleydoo · 17/08/2010 10:57

Yes, if booked through an agency definitely complain about her - £50 a lot to pay for bugger all cleaning!

We had a cleaner at our old house through an agency and she left the dirty water from cleaning the floor with the mop and the bucket behind the front door Hmm was so angry as it tipped over onto wooden floor when we came home through the door. Only had her once and demanded our money back! Got one at the moment through an agency for the next 3 weeks as just had ds and wanted to keep on top of things justin case I had to have csec. Am waiting for her now but at least she speaks english!

Starbuck999 · 17/08/2010 11:03

YANBU for wanting someone you are paying to do the job properly - and to be honest if a cleaner can't speak a word of English I do not see how the can do what you need them to do if you cannot even converse with them.

If you hired her privately then why didn't you check that she could speak English?

If you hired her through an agency then call them right now and demand your money back.

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 11:11

I have , they say its too late and that they will call her and tell her what to do

C BOMB

FUCKING SO ANNOYED

OP posts:
FindingMyMojo · 17/08/2010 11:14

You're licky she used CIF. I only hired a cleaner once when moving flat - similar situation. She nodded at me profusely & then cleaned the entire kitchen in limescale remover Shock

Morloth · 17/08/2010 11:15

That is very annoying, my current cleaner doesn't speak a word of English either but she knows how to clean so it hasn't been an issue.

Definitely complain.

coraltoes · 17/08/2010 11:20

Haha this is possibly the most middle classed rant on MN at the moment!

I have a cleaner, she works really well. Cleans everything thoroughly, has a little rota of what she does each week, does my ironing etc. £10 an hour and speaks good english i just leave her to it and buy the vast amounts of cleaning poducts she seems to get through!

I did have one who ironed all the clothes on cold setting so everything was creased, smashed a mirror and ruined my ironing board all in one shift. I didn't invite her back!

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 11:24

this is a one off I tell you, at least my rage has woken me up and I am now getting stuff done

lesson learned, tho not sure what the lesson is

dont hire non-english-speaking-90yearolds-to clean-your-house

I want coraltoes cleaner!!!!

Imagine being a 90 year old Bulgarian who doesn't speak much English who has to go out to work to survive (she's not there for the life experience, is she?)

I do sympathise though, you asked for a service, you haven't the service. You should get it. But don't make her feel bad.

WkdSM · 17/08/2010 11:35

Where I used to live there was almost a cat fight when a good cleaner came free - I have been through a few (one who used the money for a boob job - think size six with Dolly Parton's - and then left because she wanted to wear nice clothes to show off her figure when working!!!) - a foreign girl who drank my vodka and fell asleep (the only one through an agency) and one who left for 3 months a year to work at a garden centre.

Then - bliss!! Widow who lived 5 mins away wanted to supplement pension - she was more a friend than a cleaner - did cleaning and ironong. While I was away used time to clean out all kitchen cabinets - came in and fed our cat while we were away and would not take a penny extra (I used to take her out for a meal or the cinema to say thanks) - would even come and let our dog out if I was held up at work.

When we moved it was like a gladitorial contest for her services. She was the best - and I really miss her. There is a lot to be said for the old fashioned 'mrs Mopp' - where have they all gone??

janajos · 17/08/2010 11:41

I pay £10.00 ph and my cleaner brings her own cleaning stuff. She is english too!! I would definitely complain.

pagwatch · 17/08/2010 11:45

Porca

you do need to go back to the agency. That is not on and they should do another clean for you for free.
Sending only one person to do a deep clean is bollocks anyway.

Don't fume. Phone them and tell them that you are deeply unsatisfied with their service... and that a few 100,000 mumsnetters ( many of whom are interested in future deep cleans themselves) are waiting patiently for you to confirm that it has been resolved or for you to name and shame.

Did you sign a contract for the job?

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 11:51

onetoomany, agree and I am NOT being mean but have just fuckking wasted £50 at a time I can ill afford it. i have not shouted at her at all

i have complained ands they dont give a shit

anyway, thanks for letting me rant everyone

I read that its better to get 2 hours of childcare and clean yourself, I wholeheartedly agree

OP posts:
pagwatch · 17/08/2010 11:53

name and shame Porca

Onetoomanycornettos · 17/08/2010 11:58

I didn't think you had been mean, I just felt sorry for the poor woman who clearly couldn't do what she'd been asked. I agree you should put your complaint in writing now (email or letter) and what you expect them to do about it. Threaten to report them to Trading Standards (I don't even know what they would do about it, but I still would). Name and shame as well. I hate crap service.

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 12:02

COSMO CLEANING!!!! avoid ladies, avoid X

OP posts:
proudnsad · 17/08/2010 12:17

V annoying but what's her not speaking English got to do with it? Confused

Most cleaners where I live are Eastern European and mine doesn't speak English, we just point and smile and nod and mime!

JustAnother · 17/08/2010 12:38

my cleaner didn't speak much English when she started (about 2 years ago). She still doesn't, but she definitely knows how to clean. I would call the agency and ask them to communicate with her and let her know that she needs to hurry up. Maybe they have a Bulgarian speaker there.

porcamiseria · 17/08/2010 13:45

fucking shite

I feel so "heard", thanks all!!!!!
