fucking hell! decided to "treat myself" to a deep clean as am due DC2 next week

a 90 year old Bulgarian has rocked up, nearly 1 hour in she has cleaned 2 cupboards and the whole place fucking stinks of CIF

it has taken her 40 to clean 2 cupboards. I can clean the house in 40 mins

and she does not speak English

rant over, what a fucking waste of £50

Dont lose heart in cleaners! I had one when I moved house and they were bloody fantastic, halves of lemons in every kitchen cupboard, filled with bicarb etc. Of course it does help if the cleaner can speak English and that would grate on me heavily as it is your home and you want things done to your liking. I would complain and have a relacement cleaner sent round to compensate.

Alinkum - yes, as I said, my cleaner also has no English, we get by just fine by miming, nodding, pointing etc!

How annoying.

Definitely complain and ask for your money back.

There are good cleaners out there - mine's just been and she is fab. £10 an hour and brings all her own stuff.

We had a cleaner once when DH and I were both working full time and very long hours. She was a 50ish Irish lady who took 2 weeks off around St Patricks day because "she was going on a bender" (her words). I had an old bottle of cherry brandy in the cupboard and she drank all of it and passed out. We gave up after that.

I tried one cleaner who stood there for an hour gently dusting while she told me all her gynaecological problems. She followed me from room to room so I didn't miss anything, and I mean ANYTHING! Shock

Gave up then for a while and now use an agency.

Mine is an agency cleaner but she's lovely. Actually she's possibly not the worlds best cleaner but she's a great tidier and has a calming affect on the whole house plus does a certain amount of cleaning. She irons (if I leave her a note), babysits DD from time to time and holds a spare key to our house which we've been grateful for on 2 occassions.

Its thanks to her we can get through the door as we're a generally messy, busy family

We had a mad Irish lady who stormed out when we had some building work done as she couldnt stand the disruption, two young girls who fell out with each and ended up almost have a fist fight in my living room and who also brought their 4 children with them (without asking) during school holidays. Finally we ended up with a lady who brough her mother but often didnt turn up because, there were problems at home, the cat isnt very well etc. Eventually we decided that I would do the cleaning and put the money saved into a holiday fund. It is great sipping cocktails on the beach thinking that my cleaning paid for this....
