Took DS on the bus yesterday....was quite busy and there were some skanky smelly types on....

Obviously, I wasn't sat in their seats, but at some point, I will be sitting in a seat previously occupied by a skank...

And, it led me to ponder as to what I'm actually sitting IN everytime I sit on the bus...and its not just skanks really, I'm sure there are quite clean looking people that may have too much drippage in the downstairs department and don't wear pant liners or men that don't shake post wee...

Why can't buses have wipe clean seats????

You will have to take a Sainsburys bag with you on every journey, to lay carefully on the seat before you sit down. Might be a bit slippy, but better than crusty old deposite Wink

OrmRenewed · 07/08/2010 20:27

I think you need a distraction on the bus. Try a nice book Grin

BertieBotts · 07/08/2010 20:29

I caught a bus the other day just as the drivers were changing over The new driver spent ages carefully spreading out a METRO over his seat before he sat down, maybe the Metro does have a use after all Grin

Apologies for lack of full stops, my keyboard is knackered

drinkyourmilk · 07/08/2010 20:31

how much discharge or wee drips do you think will make it through their underwear? You could always stand. Smile

TheCrackFox · 07/08/2010 20:32

What a lovely image you have created in my mind.

Noooo! Shh, don't think about it! And don't read the thread about skanky people on public transport.

I don't drive so I get the bus often if I need to go somewhere that's too far to walk. Thankfully the buses around here seem to be not too bad.

MarthaQuest · 07/08/2010 20:35

don't forget scabs and bogies.

Jaquelinehyde · 07/08/2010 20:36

The buses I travel on usually make people wear clothes!

McSnail · 07/08/2010 20:36

VAGINAL DISCHARGE?

I'm sorry, but how sopping wet would you have to be as a woman to actually leave a VAGINAL DISCHARGE stain on the bus seat?

Puuuurrrrleeeease.

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/08/2010 20:37

I reckon quite a bit seeps out from the nation's undercrackers...especially if they are not overly fond of soap and water...

I mean there is one old bloke that is regularly on my bus and he reeks of wee...I'm sure at one point I have probably sat on one of his seats! Last time he was on the bus, it was so bad, a woman opposite me went all Les Dawson, pulling exaggerated faces, leaning forward and confiding 'he really smells...ALL the time'

I couldn't put a carrier bag down - it would look as if I've got fanjo issues then wouldn't it!! Hmm

It would have to be quite a quantity of bodily fluid to go through all their clothing and then through all yours. So you're probably safe (otherwise there would be a whole lots of bus-seat-related pregnancies surely).

Get one of those plastic sheets and carry it at all times (also useful in the cinema, restaurants, trains, planes, and other people's cars)

HecateQueenOfWitches · 07/08/2010 20:38

Hopefully not too much. Unless a lot of people park their bare bottoms on seats. Pull down the trousers/pull up the skirts and slither around the seat.

Must admit that's not something I've ever seen, but then it has been a fair few years since I've got on a bus, so perhaps things have changed...

Remember also, that traces of urine, faeces, herpes and semen are commonly found when testing peanuts at the pub.

CoupleofKooks · 07/08/2010 20:40

unless they have visible wet patches on their clothes then i think the seats are safe

KurriKurri · 07/08/2010 20:40

Also curious about all these women awash with vaginal discharge, does your bus pass the local GUM clinic?

Wanderingsheep · 07/08/2010 20:41

Pmsl at the thought of bus-seat related pregnancies Grin.

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/08/2010 20:42

Seriously, I think some women are probably quite moist down there and if you don't wear a panty liner...well, its gotta go somewhere hasn't it??!

I always wear a panty liner with linen trousers just to be on the safe side, although must hasten to add I am not drowning in vag fluid btw! Grin

have you got OCD, by any chance?

You won't be sitting in any of those fluids on a bus. Firstly they are cleaned, and secondly, you are wearing clothes (presumably)

YABU.

hairytriangle · 07/08/2010 20:49

"I couldn't put a carrier bag down - it would look as if I've got fanjo issues then wouldn't it!! hmm"

I think you have fanjo issues - and all sorts of other issues to go with them!!!

KurriKurri · 07/08/2010 20:51

I'm more troubled by that awful prickly material they use for bus and coach seats. Must have been invented by someone with an asbestos bum,- it would be more comfortable sitting on a wasps nest. (And obviously less risky in the discharge/urine/faecal matter department.)

zippy539 · 07/08/2010 20:52

It's not the seats you've got to worry about it's the hand rails. All manner of nasties on them. [insert mutant-swine-flu paranoia emoticon].

Same with handrails on escalators in shops [just for those who are feeling smug about never having to get on a bus]...

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/08/2010 20:53

Nope, no OCD and no fanjo issues

Was genuinely wondering what I am sitting in while sat on the bus....

I laugh at women who wear 'panty liners' when they're not menstruating.

pigletmania · 07/08/2010 20:58

Well I went on the bus, i had a heavy period and it leaked through my ST, trousers, i got off at my stop looked round to see it on the seat Blush, hope noone noticed.
