To Wear This Out 'On The Town'?

I am 33. 5ft 7 ish and a size 14-16. I am a decent enough shape, flat tummy etc and a G/GG cup.

We have been invited out for the night in Dublin and I would like to wear jeans a corset. However, as I am not as slim or young as I used to be, I worry I will look ridiculous. Will I? I don't mind my clevage attracting attention, 'tis my best feature really... along with my waist, will will look even smaller in a corset.

What do yo uthink?! Too old and fat?!

what sort of corset? can you do a link to something similar? an what are the jeans like? straightleg? skinny jeans? black or blue denim?

Nancy66 · 31/07/2010 21:18

thing with corsets are they are really uncomfortable - so if you are going to be eating/drinking you'll probably wish you hadn't worn it.

epithet · 31/07/2010 21:19

Curvier-figured women look fabulous in corsets imo. And you're def not too old.

JaneS · 31/07/2010 21:29

I love corsets. I would just say, if you're worried about feeling self-conscious, bring a pretty shawl and then you can always drape it over shoulders/boobage for cover.

Have you bought the corset? I reckon some are better than others for large-boobed ladies. I'm only about a D/E cup these days but I've tried on a few that made me look there were two pink piglets trying to escape from there!

midori1999 · 31/07/2010 21:59

Thanks. I'm not worried about the comfort issue as I used to wear corsets quite a bit and am used to them.

I think either straight leg or boot cut jeans, maybe a dark/distressed kind of colour to dress the corset down a bit and then some heels. Would that be ok?

I am thinking of ordering this corset:

www.asos.com/Vollers-Corsets/Vollers-Feather-Detail-Satin-Corset/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=451422&Sea rchQuery=corset&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Black

I already have a vollers one, and they don't make my boobs look too outrageous.

I'm mainly conscious of leaving my upper chest/shoulders uncovered. I had thought about getting a chunky necklace to wear and think I'd be comfortable in that, but would it look ok?

Hmmmm. I'm a G cup at the minute (bf) and I have to say I would be very nervous about wobbling out of the top of it!

i think it will look good. you could always bring a shawl or a bolero or something incase you get a bit shoulder conscious. i am very shoulder conscious and always have to plan outfits with something to cover them up.

TiggyD · 31/07/2010 22:20

Corsets give anybody a sexy figure. Even me. But they do tend to squeeze things up and out the top somewhat.

Don't think of bending down at all. It took me half an hour once to get off my driving shoes and into some boots because I couldn't breathe when I bent down.

JaneS · 31/07/2010 22:23

Ooh, that is lovely! You'll have to post us pics I guess, but I think it'd look great. I wouldn't go for the necklace personally, but if you like it, go for it!

sapphire - you can't really wobble out of a proper corset! A mate of mine is about the same size as the OP (a G cup, anyway), and corsets are plenty tight enough to keep her bound in.

scottishmummy · 31/07/2010 22:23

if you feel confident, wear what you want have great time

TrillianAstra · 31/07/2010 22:26

Wow, yes please do wear it and make everyone who sees you that little bit happier.

My theory is that everyone likes looking at nice boobs, men and women both.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 22:31

oh yes i like nice boobs.

tethersend · 31/07/2010 22:37

Corset not a problem- but with jeans?

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 22:39

tethersend what about black trousers?

tethersend · 31/07/2010 22:41

Oooh, no- has to be a skirt IMO.

scottishmummy · 31/07/2010 22:42

no no def trousers.not skirt

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 22:43

really? i thought boobs and legs was a no no. i usually do one or the other, not both.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 22:44

i haven't been out in ages, are white linen trousers a no no?

tethersend · 31/07/2010 22:48

No, no, no!

Why would you do this to me?

Trousers and corset looks too mid nineties for me. Best wait until it's retro

Corsets look good with pencil skirts or full petticoats.

rockinhippy · 31/07/2010 22:48

Depends entirely on the Corset of course, but if its in the right fabric/style, then theres nothing wrong with wearing 1 with jeans,..........though personally I'd stick with dark skinny jeans......& no, not to old at 33, you sound like you could carry it off well, & Dublin is the kind of place where it won't be too out of place.... enjoy your night

tethersend · 31/07/2010 22:48

White linen trousers?

midori1999 · 31/07/2010 22:49

What's wrong with wearing it with jeans? I did think black trousers, but apparently Dublin is a pretty casual sort of place where you'd wear jeans a nice/dressy top, hence the jeans and corset.

I definitely can't wear a skirt unless it is long, but what on earth kind of skirt would go with a corset?

I'm stuck now...

Ignore me, midori, wear whatever you like- I have very definite ideas about clothes and I don't expect anyone to listen to me

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 22:52

oh dear

i shan't be going out for a while then
