To Wear This Out 'On The Town'?

I am 33. 5ft 7 ish and a size 14-16. I am a decent enough shape, flat tummy etc and a G/GG cup.

We have been invited out for the night in Dublin and I would like to wear jeans a corset. However, as I am not as slim or young as I used to be, I worry I will look ridiculous. Will I? I don't mind my clevage attracting attention, 'tis my best feature really... along with my waist, will will look even smaller in a corset.

What do yo uthink?! Too old and fat?!

i think jeans would be nice.

I have very definite ideas on clothing too.....(its been my trade for more years than I care to remember)

Number 1 being, its about style & how you wear it, not about what should, or shouldn't be put together, & unless your -20 (ish)definitely NOT about fashion....unless you want it to be, but then it only needs a nod to the trends that suit YOU...otherwise its not stylish, but fashion victim

& your right about Dublin, that EXACTLY the sort of place it is, so your outfit would go down well, so wear it & enjoy

tethersend · 31/07/2010 23:04

If you must wear white linen trousers, please check for skidmarks. That's all I'm saying.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 23:06

boak

rockinhippy · 31/07/2010 23:09

got to admit, I think I'd stay clear of white trousers in Dublin, the Guiness is far too nice & flows very easily, so for practical reasons, agree with tethered, maybe avoid those...lol

scottishmummy · 31/07/2010 23:11

LOL avoid "skidmarks" advice for the faecally challenged amongst us

CheapHawaiian · 31/07/2010 23:12

I love the corset, and according to the magazine I bought this week they are 'having a moment'.

I think this is this month's 'bang on trend'.

Apparently we should all be looking out for them in August's 'drop'.

If any of that makes sense then you are too young to be up this late.

midori1999 · 31/07/2010 23:15

Ok, I feel a bit better about it all now.

I do own white linen trousers but I wouldn't wear them on a night out, in Dublin or anywhere. In fact after the skidmark revelation I may never wear them again, just in case... I mean, you just never know, do you?!

Dark jeans + corset is great. Wear it.

I wish I had tits.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 23:22

i am just off to bin my WLTs. i will never feel the same way about them after tonight

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 23:24

I think a corset with white linen trousers would be v odd indeed.

Black corset and jeans is very 80s rock-babe.

Black corset with a pencil skirt or long column-type skirt (think Yohji Yamamoto) would be fabbo.

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 23:27

belligerent, could you post a link of corset with skirt to give an idea of what you mean. i just can't picture it.

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 23:36

This sort of shape maybe? Not quite what I was thinking but I like it! I was thinking longer and sleeker

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 23:38

This is more the shape I had in mind

JaneS · 31/07/2010 23:47

I think the first one is stunning!

I wonder if the second one would have enough support? You'd need to try it on, of course. But the first one is gorgeous and I can see that your figure would be a knockout.

I would say, please wear the corset around your home for a while before you go out -that way you'll know if it moves!

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 23:47

ok, is that 'in' right now? i have seen a lot of 90's style long skirts about in shops.

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 23:48

In? I haven't got the faintest idea!

booyhoo · 31/07/2010 23:49

me either, that's why i am asking. sheesh, i am to young to feel this out of touch.

muggglewump · 31/07/2010 23:53

That's really nice, but it depends on what you look like in it.

I was watching Big Brother last night and Davina was wearing such a top, and I thought her bottom half was a bit curvy for it, but the bottom half trousers were tight.
It made her thighs look big. I notice as I have huge thighs.

midori1999 · 31/07/2010 23:57

I didn't think anyone would be looking at my thighs really...

I am more hour glass than pear shaped I think, definitely bigger up top if anything.
