To wonder why MNHQ deleted the "houseperson" thread?

The only explanation given was "we decided this isn't what MN is about".

That won't do.
You allow threads about the Pope, abuse all sorts of stuff in fact. This thread appeared to have no personal abuse (above and beyond what MN allows anyway) and no controversy (beyond the OP's blatant boasting). It was a good discussion.

Why have you come over all draconian?

Was one of you the OP or friends with the OP?

I think you need to clarify!

OP posts:
UnholyMoley · 11/07/2010 21:24

I was enjoying reading it!

traceybath · 11/07/2010 21:26

It was an interesting thread in some ways but I felt very uncomfortable at the facebook stuff being quoted.

I wondered if that was why it was deleted.

southeastastra · 11/07/2010 21:27

was probably posted by member of foreign corresdpondent

HouseofCrazy · 11/07/2010 21:27

Waht section was it in? Someone said it had 25 pages but I totally missed it!!

There is a thread asking the same thing in site stuff.

I can think of a lot of things MN is not about if they are making a list

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/07/2010 21:29

Thread in Site Stuff moaning at the same. C'mon FFS it made a change from parent and child spaces and BF vs FF bunfights which we get plenty of on here.

14hourstillbedtime · 11/07/2010 21:30

Oooh, I was enjoying that thread, too!

Was building up a fantasy list of Staff to go along with my houseboy (butler, betweenmaid, parlourmaid, housekeeper, chauffeur....)

Easywriter · 11/07/2010 21:30

I think MNHQ need to clarify and quickly.

OP posts:
MmeRedWhiteandBlueberry · 11/07/2010 21:30

I am very disappointed.

jazzchickens · 11/07/2010 21:32

Very annoying! I've spent all evening reading it and only got two thirds through but found it really interesting. Did it take a turn for the worse?

expatinscotland · 11/07/2010 21:32

What traceybath said.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/07/2010 21:32

I would like the thread reinstated. MNHQ have allowed far worse threads to stand in the past with posters making the most hideous comments. I actually found it very interesting and on the whole reasoned debate,

expatinscotland · 11/07/2010 21:34

It was an interesting thread, though.

Gigantaur · 11/07/2010 21:35

It wasn't the subject matter it was the fact that people were digging into the Op's world outisde of MN to try and humiliate her.

It was vile.

However valid and interesting the debate matter, it did not excuse such behaviour

ifancyashandy · 11/07/2010 21:36

.

marking spot as am on the other thread too.

jazzchickens · 11/07/2010 21:36

at betweenmaid!

I've just got back off holiday and thought I had entered a parallel universe! The only other thread I've clicked on since getting home was the one about children flying Business Class. I wondered whether somebody has been printing money and dishing it out whilst I was away because suddenly everybody on Mumsnet seems rich!

Easywriter · 11/07/2010 21:37

No it didn't take a turn for the worst.

It was quite interesting and did make me think about what you accept/expect when you live in foreign country and made me think about why.

If it was the posts regarding the OP's FB ebtries then why not just delete those specific posts?

Crazy!

DuelingFanjo · 11/07/2010 21:40

they allow threads about the pope! How very dare they!

Easywriter · 11/07/2010 21:45

I heart DF!

14hourstillbedtime · 11/07/2010 21:48

jazzchickens and a cup of tea brought to me on a silver salver (accompanied by very thin bread and butter, don't you know?) every morning by a 'tweeny wearing a properly starched apron and cap...

Oh, wait, that is the Agatha Christie novel I am re-reading!

(note to self: Make sure I get reincarnated as rich person at the turn of the last century )

Oh poo sticks, I wanted to see how this turned out!

Was she BU?

How on earth did peeps manage to find their way onto her FB page? Poirot, eat your heart out...MN = Sherlock Holmes!!

AnyFucker · 11/07/2010 21:54

There were forays into the OP's real, personal life ?

I didn't see those.

I saw the ones where she was busted for boasting on FB about her inflammatory comments on MN...

And then getting arsey about being told she was BU, on an AIBU thread

It is Mumsnet, as far as I am concerned

If you don't wanna get burned...don't light the touchpaper....
