Hi

My 10mth old DD has been diagnosed with a milk intolerance and she has been prescribed wysoy which she has been on for a couple of weeks.

At first she seemed ok, then a few days ago I gave her a soya yogurt which set her off screaming/straining etc and ever since then seems unable to tolerate her soya milk.

We referred to the hospital a few mths ago prescribed soya milk in the first place and the earliest I can get another appt is Jan

I have a GP appt on Wed for her, again the earliest I could get

What do I do in the meantime? DD was so bad this evening I had to help her poo with tissues etc (sorry TMI)Once she has pooed she is quite happy.

Do I continue with soya milk (screaming will do my head in and she must be in pain) till I see someone

Or do I put her back on "normal" FF which she was intolerant to but nowhere near as bad as this

Or has anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks so much, just hate seeing DD in pain

Update: Had to ring DD's consultant today to tell him how she was getting on which I did and said she was doing great etc. And he is already talking about trying to re-introduce dairy products

What is wrong with this man??

Put my foot down on phone and said I want her on neocate for at least 6mths. He answer was "We will talk about it face to face"

He wants to see us in the New Year. So do I go to appt prepared for battle?? Or when date comes say I can't make it etc...

He has written to GP to say she can prescribe neocate so am planning to stock up while I can!!

Well I can understand why you feel that way but personally I'd just want an assurance that if I tried her on dairy and she was ill again he'd leave it 6 months next time. Also when it comes to reintroducing you can introduce live yoghurt or cheese and not milk. If he suggests reintroducing milk before the other stuff he's a idiot.

Tatt - she has only been off dairy for 5 days and I know he is saying it because neocate is so expensive.

Think DD has been in pain with it for so long that I just want her system to have a break iyswim.

You might be right in that I get reassurance that if she does react again (which I am sure sh will) that he will leave well alone for a bit longer.

The man is an idiot BTW!! He said to me on the phone that he likes babies off neocate by a year but she only went on it and ten and a half mths. Grrr...
