Does anyone else suffer from diarrhoea after eating domino's pizza?!

Just that really, I've tried again with the thin and crispy base after a year of not consuming it and it really didn't settle with me.

Does anyone else suffer from this? I have been tested for coeliac and was negative I am also not lactose intolerant as I can consume cheese and milk just fine, but normally opt for a non-diary alternative for coffee.

That's an interesting one. I wonder what's causing it?

bardy18 · 02/01/2023 14:20

It'll be great to find out as I don't suffer from the same when ordering from other pizza joints

It could be the tomato base. My son has crohns disease and before he started on medication any pizza set him off and we worked out it was the tomato base. He was fine if he ate "white" pizza with no tomato

FavouriteDogMug · 02/01/2023 14:26

Pizza is especially high in gluten to make it stretchy so it could be that.

Spendonsend · 02/01/2023 14:28

I get a 'dominos hangover' the next day. Tired, headache etc. I think its salt being dehydrating. I now eat just a couple of slices rather than a whole pizza and it doesnt happen

Snowmoab · 02/01/2023 14:28

If you don't normally eat greasy food could be that. I'm fine with oven pizzas and all of the ingredients separately, but dominos is the same for me (which I'm gutted about as I do like the taste!).

Phineyj · 02/01/2023 14:28

Yes and I don't have any other dietary issues. I assumed it was because it was cheap and nasty!

serenghetti2011 · 02/01/2023 14:29

I can’t eat dominos at all both times I’ve been very unwell (d&v) thought it was food poisoning initially but same reaction very soon after the second time, I avoid it at all costs now.

DillDanding · 02/01/2023 14:31

Yes! Our whole family. We say we have the ‘Domino’s shits’.

Only happens with Domino’s. Pizza Express or home-made are always fine.

We only have Domino’s about twice a year. Usually when we’ve forgotten a. It’s over-priced crap and b. the ensuing diarrhoea

Moopi · 02/01/2023 14:32

Could also be bad hygiene. I've seen the teenage boys who work in our local one...

Glitteratitar · 02/01/2023 14:33

Happens to DH when we get Dominos or Pizza Hut. He’s fine with Papa Johns so we only get that now.

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 02/01/2023 14:34

The grease and salt levels are sky-high with Dominos, give me serious gurgles but not worse, thankfully. I've sworn off them anyway.

StupidStupidStupidStupidStupid · 02/01/2023 14:34

I assumed it was this too.

The one and only time I’ve ever eaten it I had horrendous cramps and diarrhoea.

Its horribly greasy and I don’t usually eat that much grease so I’m assuming it was that. The human dustbins, DH & Teen, eat crap all the time so they are fine with it.

HowDoWeDoThisPlease · 02/01/2023 14:39

I have crohns, and I’ve found that any time I’ve tried a Dominoes it’s really screwed up my guts for a couple of days (took a while to figure out, as we don’t often order pizza). I avoided any pizza for ages, but after being ok when I had one in pizza express I have since ordered one a couple of times from papa johns and been ok. I did then try a dominoes again, thinking I’d maybe been wrong in my assumption, but no, really messed me up again.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 02/09/2023 10:05

I know this is an older post but just wanted to say, yes both me and DD get terrible stomach cramps and diarrhoea several hours after eating a Dominos pizza. We have no allergies either and it doesn’t happen with homemade or shop bought pizza, so there must definitely be something in the sauce or added ingredient in the base. Or like someone else has pointed out, maybe it’s the fats and salt. The pizza does lay very heavy in my stomach too. Shame cos I do like them once in a while but I’m not sure I can suffer the consequences again! 🙈

hdbs17 · 02/09/2023 10:07

Currently have gestational diabetes and funnily enough, I can tolerate eating a takeaway pizza from anywhere except Domino's - they make my blood sugars spike insanely and I don't think I could ever eat it again knowing what it does to my blood sugars!

caringcarer · 02/09/2023 10:21

It'll be the gluten they use. My son's girlfriend is gluten intolerant and now he eats gluten free too and he says he feels better as no bloating. I suspect humans are not designed to tolerate large amounts of the glutens.

dontforgetme · 02/09/2023 10:25

The dominos shits Grin that made me laugh out loud.

In our house it's the bbq shits. Not exactly diarrhoea but fucking hell I'm to and fro all morning the next day. All the meat when I'm not usually a massive meat fan. In fact I'm not a bbq fan but oh and the kids love it.

catlovingdoctor · 02/09/2023 10:26

I have the same with McDonald's so can't eat it! Probably because its just very poor-quality food.

TiredMum30 · 02/09/2023 10:32

My DS does whenever he eats any type of pizza, other things also cause it such as certain cereals and bread. Tests have always come back normal 🤷‍♀️

Magssss · 02/09/2023 10:35

We had Domino’s recently (don’t have it often) and DS8 was sick about 20 mins later & then absolutely fine. I definitely think it’s the greasy/salty/cheesy overload - his stomach couldn’t handle it!

serenghetti2011 · 02/09/2023 10:37

I can’t eat dominoes either I have had it twice and been incredibly unwell, the first time I thought it was bad luck. We moved and got some from a different takeaway same again. Really awful and I avoid it now as clearly an issue. I have bad tummy issues no diagnosis yet though. Wonder if it’s the sauce or base. I can eat other pizza from Pizza Hut I don’t eat it often or other junk foods as I am pretty careful these days about what I’m eating and what sets things off

TeaandHobnobs · 02/09/2023 10:46

We (me and DH) stopped eating dominoes as we also had the “hangover” and the gut issues. Kids don’t like it either - they are always disappointed when a party has dominoes for party tea!

It's not cheap though, it's ruddy expensive. I will never understand the prices or why people will pay it when you can buy better pizzas in a supermarket and warm them up at home without any of the ordering hassle for about a 5th of the price.

Letsbekindplease · 10/09/2023 08:24

Yes. I always get this with pizza but even more so a dominos!! I must have an intolerance
