If rain falls on my head, my barnet itches unbearably.

Walked from shop to car (about 3 mins) in drizzle, and itching head driving me insane!!!

Anyone else, or am I just a freak?

Don't quite react that strongly, but yeah, rain often brings me out in a rash, not pleasant at all....so, we can be freaks together

AitchTwoOh · 18/01/2007 20:23

wow, you're both freaks...
never heard of that reaction but it makes sense with all the pollution, doesn't it?

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 20:26

3andnomore, you are a star! Sympathy for allergy, but no longer feel quite so alone....

I am also allergic to dp as well...

OP posts:
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:27

yeah, lol, it does make sense with teh pollution, etc...never had any trouble wiht allergies at all as a child, and then somehting possessed me to become a Nurse and that is when all that trouble started....saying that, as long as I don't work in a Hospital environment I have hardly any probs with eczema and allergies....

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 20:28

How weird, I thought hospitals were meant to be steril environments, ie nothing to be allergic to!

OP posts:
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:29

funny you should say that Fizz....I had a very bad reaction to a exboyfriend of mine, was really freaky...might aswell we decided it wasn't love afterall.

winestein · 18/01/2007 20:29

Not quite the same, but I have a problem with my hair and the rain. So much as a slight drizzle and my hair turns so greasy, I have to go straight home. A couple of hairdressers have put it down to the local powerstations/pollution.

Surely we have enough members to start Freaks Not-So-Anonymous?

3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:32

Well, I think it's all the antibiotics and all that that made me react, also, you get in contact with soooooooo many people...anyway, sterile environment is never good....my excuse for living in a house equalling a tip, lol ;)
My reactions got at one point very bad, and we were handling, very safely, chemotherapie when preparing it....it was very weird.
Thing is, as soon as I am out of the hospital it gets all better, which is fine, but then when I get back into it it starts again, and everytimes it's getting worse...hence my reluctancy to return into Nursing...

3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:32

Or maybe Freaks United, lol

funnypeculiar · 18/01/2007 20:34

woooww
< fp creeps away from the wierdos in case they're catching or something...>

Edam · 18/01/2007 20:37

You are delicate little flowers, aren't you? Sounds horrid and very irritating.

3andnomore, what about community nursing - would that be any better?

3andnomore · 18/01/2007 20:44

that would be an idea...although, you still get in contact with gloves and oitments, and what not on a daily basis.

I much prefer the term "delicate flower" to freak, I must say
Nothing delicate about me, but heh..

winestein · 18/01/2007 20:45

I can forsee the problem with that though Edam...... what if it's raining?

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 20:56

I wish I looked delicate, but unfortunately look picture of strapping buxom good health, despite being allergic to lots of stuff.

Did hospital have sick building syndrome? I ask because I seem to be allergic to the school I teach in........

Weirder and weirder....

Hows about Amazonian Rain Forests Anon then? I mean, I'm 6'.
There's something in this....

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:09

Yes I'm Amazonian as well 5ft 8, but we couldn't call it Amazonian rainforests anon, because we are allergic to rainwater....or was that meant to be a pun which I am too dim to realise!

OP posts:
winestein · 18/01/2007 21:13

pun (of sorts) you goon!

kittylette · 18/01/2007 21:15

yea, my face itches for hours if im in the rain

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:22

Yes...sorry to be slow dd been exceedingly difficult today.

Kitty, Welcome aboard...we are not all lonely freaks then!

OP posts:
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 21:38

yeah another freak, or delicate flower, whichever you prefer...
my dh always siad that I was probably just allergic to work...the cheek of that

kittylette · 18/01/2007 21:39

its funny cause i said this to DF the other day, and he said 'dont bedaft'

i dont actully get a rash, just a bit red and all itchy and feel like i need to go have a wash to get it off

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:44

That is exactly how I feel, I just want to wash my hair. Was once told by hospital consultant that I could not hoover due to dust allergy.....

Milked it for what it was worth, but eventually had to do some hoovering, despite my best efforts

onlyjoking9329 · 18/01/2007 21:45

i am ok with rain but allergic to hair both animal and human, plus latex and other stuff too 'tis a nightmare going to the hairdressers apparently i am allergic to the protiens in freshly cut hair, my son is the same.

fizzbuzz · 18/01/2007 21:47

Wow! Allergic to your own hair....FREAKY!!! However am also allergic to animal hair and my own sweat(as is ds)

MrsJohnCusack · 18/01/2007 21:50

fizzbuzz, this happens to me too.
sometimes my skin itches too. I expect it's all the nasties in rain, or it picks them up in the air or something.
