If rain falls on my head, my barnet itches unbearably.

Walked from shop to car (about 3 mins) in drizzle, and itching head driving me insane!!!

Anyone else, or am I just a freak?

Didn't young maidens wash their faces in rainwater to give them beautiful complexions?

Ha ha lol, what would we look like, all scratching away, looking red and blotchy?

MrsJohnCusack · 18/01/2007 21:54

it's making me itchy just thinking about it....(even though it's lovely sunshine here)

kittylette · 18/01/2007 21:55

the way i describe it is,

when you put on a new face product, or moisturiser and after a few seconds it starts to burn and you have to wash it off

im not allergic to anything else

weird

3andnomore · 18/01/2007 22:00

fizz...oh rofl at your young maidens comment...now that would be a right site with us, eh...lololol!
oddly enough,my own sweat tends to get me all blodgy, too...not minor armpit sweat, but like sweating badly afyer exercise, etc...

onlyjoking9329 · 18/01/2007 22:09

am also allergic to milk, so a milk bath is out of the question, don't get me started on balloons they are a nightmare for me and seem to be everywhere

onlyjoking9329 · 18/01/2007 22:11

also allergic to nickle so always end up with a rash where the metal button is on my jeans, have tried putting clear nail varnish on but it doesn't make any difference.

Edam · 18/01/2007 22:51

LOL winestein, hadn't thought of that before offering my unasked-for career advice. Glad I've cheered all those fragile petals up, though.

No-one really knows why there's been such an explosion in allergies over the past 30 years. You lot could be our canaries down the mine shaft, as it were, telling us we've done something very bad to the planet. (Only I wouldn't take the analogy too far, the poor canaries had to snuff it before anyone realised there was a problem.)

hennipenni · 18/01/2007 23:02

can i join? makes my excema flare up on my eyelids-most uncomfortable- and I thought that I was the only sufferer!

fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 08:53

No one ever talks about a rain allergy ever,
have never seen it anywhere, we are like a secret group.

Only joking, are you allergic to latex, ie balloons?

Any other odd allergies out there....am also allergic to chlorine, brings me out in hives..

Do post, oh weird ones!

Flamesparrow · 19/01/2007 09:08

You lot make my calor gas allergy sound positively normal!

onlyjoking9329 · 19/01/2007 09:22

yes the latex is a nightmare, i always have to get someone to frisk the kids party bags!
they did get invited to a balloon modelling party once, couldn't let them go. it seems these days everywhere has balloons even tescos had a big arch made of the blinking thing right over the door.

fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 10:29

CALOR GAS!!!OMG!!!What happens?

What happens when you touch latex? This must mean rubber gloves are out of the question then. So no cleaning for you!

Flamesparrow · 19/01/2007 10:53

lol - its really nowhere near as exciting as it sounds! It just makes my eczema terrible (or brings it out if I didn't have any). We found out when I went to an allergist - we'd spent years trying to work out what caused flare ups when I went to the beach... turned out it was the gas in my mate's beach hut!

fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 10:54

Well I guess you're an official card carrying freak as well. They could make a TV programme out of this.

OP posts:
onlyjoking9329 · 19/01/2007 11:01

yes i am a card carrier and an epi-pen carrier too

Flamesparrow · 19/01/2007 11:38

lmao

3andnomore · 19/01/2007 13:27

yeah instead of "spa of embaressing illnesses" it could be the spa of the weird allergic freaks, lol

fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 13:46

Still think calor gas is weirdest one of all. Is it just calor gas, or all gas?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 19/01/2007 13:56

Just calor gas. I was most disappointed - was hoping it would get me out of chem lessons at school

winestein · 19/01/2007 14:12

I used to have a contact allergy with varnish.... not as good as Calor Gas, but thought it may be relevant to this highly important research

Flamesparrow · 19/01/2007 14:53

Nail or wood?

winestein · 19/01/2007 14:56

Wood!
It used to get me out of holding onto the handrail whilst walking down stairs. Never a good thing.

Never considered nail varnish. I guess someone is allergic to that though...

fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 14:59

But what about tables and chairs....and....and ...er ..other wooden things.

That is so weird as well. As i look round my room atm there is a varnished side table (in fact 2)wooden speakers, cd rack.

Do you have a minimalist chrome decor???

OP posts:
fizzbuzz · 19/01/2007 15:01

Am also allergic to all eyeshadow, but still not as odd as varnish and gas...no way...

OP posts:
winestein · 19/01/2007 15:03

Lol... The contact allergy went away in my 20's as far as I know.. maybe I just stopped using varnished handrails...
As an aside though, all the wood in my house is either painted or waxed. Tempted to go and rub myself on something varnished now to see what happens.
As it happens, I am off out for a drink tonight. Would it be wrong to rub myself ont he bar?
