went round my mums for dinner, and mum had made baked alaska. oh it was lovely. but dd3 grabbed my bowl, i didnt let her have any as its partially cooked egg white, but her hands, arms and face where she had touched it with her hands came up in urticaria within a few moments. her breathing etc was fine so wasnt too worried. its gone down now.

hsanders -who did you see at bristol- cos we can't get testing for our kids very easily and we are in Bristol?!!!!

Pudmog, we saw a pead at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children next to the BRI - his name is Dr. H. M. Thomas. He was fantastic - very calm and explained everything very well. We were referred via our GP so maybe you could insist on that from your GP - or if you have private cover, then you can ask his secretary to book you in privately and ask your GP for a letter of referral although you do not strictly need one.

Good luck Pudmog.

It was he that reluctantly let us have an egg challenge.Refused to do a rast test for nut allergy and would not let us have epipens for ages- we no longer see him as his useless locum reg decided that dd's asthma didn't need to be reviewed and discharged her from the clinic ( which goes against their guidelines as she is still on a large amount of inhaled steroids.). A week later she had a massive attack out the blue and ended up in hospital for a week.
I am sure Dr. Thomas is lovely- he could never answer my difficult questions though.

It is thought that 20% of children will outgrow their nut allergy- so don't lose hope on that front either.
