I was so ill on metronidazole I couldn’t stand let alone go out 😂

I don't drink alcohol so the alcohol /abx mix has never bothered me personally but yes they can make you really ill and the antibiotic won't work if you vomit it up.

Really not worth the risk is it ?

Well thanks for all the concerns but I was totally fine on 3 glasses of wine.I guess it affects people differently .

Why did you take the risk?

Why did you bother begging for people to say it would be fine when you were clearly going to drink a bottle anyway?

SmallandSpanish · 07/02/2026 21:25

No. No. No. It’s brutal.

explanationplease · 07/02/2026 22:22

Utterly foolish.

Aside from the issue of whether or not the alcohol will make you ill - it’s not a good idea to stop taking your antibiotics part way through the course.

Your liver will be working unnecessary overtime for a while

I think the key to this thread is it is under "Alcohol Support"

I am sure whoever prescribed you the antibiotics adviced you re alcohol
I am sure you also read the leaflet .

So it seems you were going to have alcohol . So why post ?
You were going to ignore the answers that didn't suit you .And just accept the "Yeah I had a couple of glasses of red and I was A-Ok" as the answer you wanted ?

In which case , why not tell whoever prescribed them "No that won't work for me , is there another abx I could take ?"
There might not be but it depends on how you value your health . ?
