Just that really .
I'm really going to have a good go at this and I'm scared .
The thought of 30 days AF terrifies me and that's why I know I need to do it.
Trying to balance a v stress job/ 12- 14 hours a day/long commute/ children and a a fabulous relationship which I'm currently putting pressure on with my drinking .
Anyone want to hand hold or do this with me pls would be great ?

Sorry for your loss, @IJustLovePirates, and that you’re having to face your ex. How are you now?

@easterdaffsx I hope your DD is feeling better and that you’re resisting the lure of wine.

How’s everyone doing?

I’m ok, had a bit of a virus this week so feeling a bit rubbish (which is always a trigger to ‘feel better’ with wine). Am reminding myself of how that would actually feel; not just the illusion of ‘better’ with the first glass, but all the much less pleasant feelings that come afterwards, including during the night and the following day.

I wasn’t entirely onboard with the Annie Grace stuff to start with, tbh, especially after attending her webinar which was basically a hard(ish) sell of one of the longer, paid-for courses, but actually the more I listen to, the more value I’m finding in it, and I think there’s some really valuable, insightful content in the 30 Day course. I’m going through it at a slower pace, and I know I’ll revisit and re-watch it later, too. I think she totally deserves her success, and the it’s a very supportive community on the app, too.

Good promises this wee was probably my toughest yet alcohol wise, all that “you’ve done so well treat yourself chatter” which caught me a little off guard and I’m out tonight so hopefully I will be fine. I’ll listen to a bit of the book before I head out I find I’ve much more resolve after listening.

Thank you dd is getting better and so far we are clear !
This evening is hard as cooking beef and it just feels wrong without a glass of red !
Still haven't got this far to fall now .
Stay strong everyone weekends are hardest for so many of us x

Thank you @Muttly and@PromisesMeanNothingSue

I’m afraid I’ve failed miserably this weekend. It’s just been too difficult. I’ll just keep moderating instead and aim for Dry January x

Muttly · 23/11/2021 10:37

Sounds like the right thing to do @ijustlovepirates. This is not the right time with so much going on. 💔

PromisesMeanNothingSue · 24/11/2021 09:46

I’ve been struggling the last week - 10 days. Not with whether or not to have a drink - that’s actually been fine - but just with feeling flat and generally crap. I think I’m fighting off a virus or something, so feeling low-grade rubbish, headachey, tired and low energy, can’t concentrate, feeling sorry for myself, craving… well, a dopamine hit, I suspect!

Sad
Muttly · 24/11/2021 10:51

That sounds really tough Promises be kind to yourself. Something else for the dopamine hit maybe another treat. ❤️

PromisesMeanNothingSue · 24/11/2021 13:25

Thanks @Muttly. Just made myself a hot chocolate with milk, butter, cocoa powder, carob powder, cacao nibs, 85% cocoa chocolate, vanilla and pomegranate molasses. When I’ve finished bouncing off the walls, I’ll assess whether that helped. Grin

easterdaffsx · 24/11/2021 18:50

Blimey that sounds complicated I don't even recognise some of the ingredients !!!
My new AF drink is Chai tea .
Can just about manage to add water and milk ! Blush

I have up 3 years ago and do miss it .. after a few days the desire completely went . It's just a bad habit !

Muttly · 24/11/2021 21:00

Wow Gunner amazing. I’m kind of wondering what to do next. A bit of me would continue happily.

PromisesMeanNothingSue · 24/11/2021 21:21

I made it up @easterdaffsx - just combined all the chocolatey exotic ingredients I had in the house. It tasted lovely (bit gritty from the cacao nibs, but that gave it texture Grin), but I should have made it half as strong or twice as small… I was totally wired all afternoon, which made me more anxious. Lesson learned for next time!

Well done @gunnersgold! I’m staying alcohol free til next summer, and I know in my heart it needs to be permanent. I’m really grateful for the Annie Grace AE resources, and for the supportive community.

gunnersgold · 24/11/2021 21:28

I meant I don't miss it 🙈

Muttly · 25/11/2021 23:04

I’ve 30 days done today as I started after the October bank holiday here in Ireland. I’m seriously considering keeping going 😱😱 I’m really surprised that I would remotely be thinking like that. I just don’t know how I feel about booze anymore.

PromisesMeanNothingSue · 26/11/2021 17:51

Well done @Muttly - congrats on the 30 days! 🏅🎉

I’m definitely keeping going until next summer. Deep down I know it needs to be permanent, but I’m not looking that far ahead yet as it’s too scary!

easterdaffsx · 26/11/2021 23:30

Jeeez tonight was the hardest ever . Day 26 and so flipping proud of myself for resisting . I remembered someone on here having a similar moment one Friday night and resisted so cheers whoever posted that it really helped .
So I called my dp who is doing this with me and asked if he could pick up a bottle of cava this evening .... weve done so well for 4 weeks / stressful week and dd with covid just to top things off . In a previous conversation I'd asked him to support me if i asked but oh no he was like.... yes of course darling leave it with me fgs !!
Anyway I never made a decision not to drink it but just kept thinking I'll leave it another 5 mins amd after a while i was so glad I'd stuck to my sparkling water because it passed .
Nearly there eh .
How's everyone else's Friday night going ?
Hope you're staying warm and out of this gale !

One of my top tips in the early days was to have a decaf frothy coffee with some cream if you like that ? It's so different but it fills you up and distracts you from the ideal of wine etc

Easterdaffsx · 25/03/2022 07:58

I am ashamed to say I didn't carry on with the planned midweek drinking so will be starting the 30 day AF again in April if anyone is still around or onboard x
