I'm going to give it my absolute best shot ( no pun intended)

I'd love to. Been drinking way too much since lockdown and need to sort myself out.

SophieB100 · 02/05/2021 05:48

I'll join you.
Often have long breaks, but have noticed units creeping up again since Easter, so a month off will be a start.

Good luck.

Hello! I’m in, I started on Monday, it’s too much of a habit at home and I’ve used it as a stress reliever, my goal is to moderate but I really need a month possibly two months off. So far a weekend of no hangovers is bloody great!

Bananarama2 · 02/05/2021 08:36

@singlemum43 I'm exactly the same. I'm also not planning on stopping forever but I feel like I need a month or so off to break the cycle and give my liver a rest. I agree, it's nice to wake up this morning without a hangover, although I gave up caffeine this week too so I'm still a bit groggy!! X

singlemum43 · 02/05/2021 09:46

Oh well done @Bananarama2 that’s a double whammy of a challenge! I definitely feel I need to give my liver a break too.

I’ve been eating a bit off chocolate this weekend!! 😩 as a treat as I feel I need a substitute! Hope you all have a fab sober Sunday it’s a challenge being a bank holiday weekend but we’ve got this. 🙌🏻 X

Bananarama2 · 02/05/2021 10:49

@singlemum43 thank you. You too. Have a great bank holiday Sunday! X

RuLu · 02/05/2021 12:20

Me!!!

Bananarama2 · 02/05/2021 13:17

Hi @RuLu we can do this!

RuLu · 02/05/2021 17:39

Yes definitely! I want to lose some weight, wake up feeling good & hopefully break the habit. I did it after Xmas but then have started again....in my head, I'm abstaining for 4 weeks & then will reconsider!

elp30 · 02/05/2021 17:52

I've definitely had many people's share of alcohol units for a while now. I'm really needing to give myself a break.

I'm in!

Bananarama2 · 02/05/2021 18:17

@elp30 hi 👋x

singlemum43 · 02/05/2021 19:35

Hi @randomer thanks for starting the thread how are you getting in this weekend AF? x

Newsorrynewagain · 02/05/2021 20:19

Can I join too. Defo need a month or 2 to rethink my relationship with alcohol. Seem to have the same thought every Sunday but never actually happens

Bananarama2 · 02/05/2021 20:23

@Newsorrynewagain of course. I say it every Sunday too x

RuLu · 03/05/2021 20:22

I have a night out (in a friends garden) planned for Friday....I had planned to drive but already wondering if I shouldn't!! Shouldn't drive or shouldn't go?! I'm not sure which will be the easiest.....

angorarabbit · 03/05/2021 21:32

Can I jump on a bit belatedly? My intake has been creeping up and I woke up this morning thinking I should stay away from the wine for a while. it would be good to have support!

AlexaRain · 03/05/2021 21:34

Yes please!

Did dry January but it's been creeping up since then. Need to lose a bit of weight so need a healthy month.

MagratGarlikInDisguise · 03/05/2021 22:35

I'm in! Today is Day 1 after trying to moderate post Dry Jan but it's clear that I can't moderate then the guilt and the stress are just all too negative. Sat here with a cup of tea and am determined this time to ditch the booze!

Recruit2020 · 03/05/2021 22:55

Day 8 here. Went out yesterday all afternoon and eve not a single drop! Felt great this morning. Nobody really cared. They were glad of the taxi

Dugee · 03/05/2021 23:24

@Dugee great thread. Thank you for sharing x

Amdone123 · 04/05/2021 00:59

Yes, please. I want a month af and eating properly. I've been doing quite well really, only drinking once a week ( good for me). I drank Saturday. Bank Holiday Monday was painful; so boring, but I didn't drink. I didn't want to, so all good.
I've got a hen do in 8 weeks and a wedding in 10, so need to lose a stone.
That af drinks thread is really good. Great to have the fridge stocked for those moments. I'm going to stock up on Bavaria lager as I find it works for me. Also, af gin n tonic ( cans) ; brilliant.
Thanks for starting the thread.

angorarabbit · 04/05/2021 06:18

So today is day two for me, in order to stick with it I need to avoid stopping at the shops on the way home from work tonight ....that is where the will power starts to crumble!

Newsorrynewagain · 04/05/2021 08:10

@RuLu I think it depends, how strong you feel, are they the type of friends to push you to have ‘just the one’?
