New thread for those wanting to reduce alcohol. Always supportive and friendly. No judgements, just support to get to where we feel comfortable with our relationship with alcohol. All welcome.

Am a bit rubbish with clicky links but there are previous threads.

We have the same goal water.
When I was living with exH I'd have a bottle on a Friday and maybe a couple of beers on a Saturday. I've gone off the rails since we separated.

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 08:27

Count me in, NC4 and Water.

I had a very good night's sleep (not least as I was knackered after the Beer Fear the night before). I could happily go back to bed for another couple of hours, but had to get the DC off to school.

Water, Day 3 is great. I still can't get over you having managed 44 days. If you can do that, you can do anything...

Flossie, I hope you managed to resist the final third. I'm not sure I could. It's stopping once I've started that's even more of a problem than being AF.

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 20:50

Oh, FML.

NC4Now · 13/11/2018 21:02

‘Sup Dion?

Frouby · 13/11/2018 21:06

Evening all.

Not AF here. But not as bad as last night. Was easily AF sunday and quite enjoy it now I am in a routine. Had 4 x bottles of cobra beer last night just because they were there. And had a glass of wine tonight but have stopped now.

If I could just drop 1 or 2 nights when I gave those 1 or 2 drinks I would be happy but its so difficult.

Still feel rough as well. Got the most annoying cough that wakes me at 3am every fecking night. Sigh. Off to bwd just now but back tomorrow to properly catch up xx

Nothing special, NC4. XH, DC, DP. And so on... But very much appreciate your kindness. x

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 21:09

Frouby, I think we crossed. You are doing spectacularly well. I am in awe.

I wonder (hope) if I'm in a pit of drinking because Expensive Hypno Guy will be the huge kick I need to get over this. It feels a bit like a 'last chances saloon': I need to drink now, because I can't afford for the hypno to work next week, so my days are numbered. FML, though.

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 21:10

Oh F*. Last chance, not last chances. I can't even type!!

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 21:10

And 'for the hypno not to work'. Oh FFS.

NC4Now · 13/11/2018 21:58

I know what you mean. I do that with food when I miss my WW meeting. Get as much in as I can before next week when I’ll have to be careful.
As a result I’ve gone from a confident, curvy 12 to a porky, self conscious 16. I hate myself like this 😭

Sorry. I was being empathetic but spilled into self indulgence.

I guess the question is, will hypno help you manage your relationship and family without needing booze!

Dionysa · 13/11/2018 22:10

Not self-indulgent in the slightest, NC4!

And God, I hope so...

Flossie44 · 13/11/2018 22:14

Not af!! Fml!!

Moderating to an extent in that I haven’t finished the bottle but still massively over the allowed units!! 3 quarters of a bottle
Down again. Desperate for that final glass ffs!! Pissed off with my shit self control!! Currently moving house (2 weeks today but packing and sorting etc ready), plus obviously dd2 stress. But that’s no excuse to self harm like I am. Just have absolutely NO idea how i stop!!!!!

waterandlemonjuice · 13/11/2018 22:24

Hey Dionysa, Flowers

waterandlemonjuice · 13/11/2018 22:32

And Flossie Flowers

Something in that mindful drinking book resonated with me: it says in a way NOT drinking is easier than moderating because it’s very clear cut: you don’t drink. Whereas if you do drink, and are trying to moderate but without a careful plan then you may well drink more than you intended. So the idea is to plan and stick to 2/3 drinks, no more.

Hmm, not sure whether it’ll work for me, we will see. Im perfectly capable of drinking shitloads of wine accidentally so...

waterandlemonjuice · 13/11/2018 22:34

I go nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, shitloads-to-make-up-for-it so ikwym. The book says you need to reprogramme yourself. Dionysa maybe the hypno will do that?

Flossie under a bottle is good!

waterandlemonjuice · 13/11/2018 22:35

NC4 a size 16 is fine imo Flowers

longestlurkerever · 13/11/2018 22:43

Not AF either. Have been in tears twice over Christmas and stressful family dynamics, which makes me feel pathetic but I have more sleepless nights over this crap than anything else. Am getting better at moderating day to day but no better at majority AF.

Good luck with the move Flossie, and group hug for everyone feeling low.

NC4Now · 13/11/2018 23:23

Flowers for Dion and Flossie.
I think it’s when I moved house that I lost all self control.
I’m anxious tonight. I’ve got a brilliant job lined up tomorrow which is WAY out of my comfort zone but will be a great experience.
I’m just a podgy northern working class kid who somehow ended up here. 🤦‍♀️
Serious imposter syndrome going on here.

Flossie44 · 14/11/2018 07:25

NC4 - good luck with the job Smile. You’ll be great I’m sure!!

Water..you say the book said no more than 2/3 drinks. That’s me..but my drinks are 250ml each!! So that’s a bottle of wine!! Seriously!! That totally is it!! I never have more than 2/3!! Last night was 2. Shock

CottonSock · 14/11/2018 07:53

My 'drinks are always 250ml aswell.. maybe as I tell myself it's just the one. I did only have one last night so a little proud of myself. Away a night with work, on my.own. so peaceful

waterandlemonjuice · 14/11/2018 13:30

I’m a bit burpy this week and have just googled and established that a stomach ulcer or pancreas issues could cause this (along with loads of other things) and now I’m panicking. No other symptoms at all other than a very slightly sore throat. Any reassurance would be really helpful. I know Dr Google is not a good idea but oh no. Maybe I’m just coming down with a cold? Eek! Help?!

waterandlemonjuice · 14/11/2018 13:31

So flossie would you still have just 2 or 3 if they were smaller glasses? In which case that’s the answer!

longestlurkerever · 14/11/2018 14:34

Those 250ml glasses are killers. so easy for them just to slip down.

I am feeling quite low again this week. Really must speak to Dr about coil removal.

longestlurkerever · 14/11/2018 14:37

Water my DH has all sorts of digestive issues including sulphur burps. He has been tested for all sorts and everything is clear other than pancreatic function, which is being treated with enzymes. No Dr has ever expressed particular concern about the burps though. Sorry, not sure if this falls under the reassurance head or not.

waterandlemonjuice · 14/11/2018 14:58

Thank you lurker, it does! I appreciate it.

I’m sorry you’re having a down week. If you think it’s the coil can you book to get it taken out now? (What joy! I used to have one, I remember insertion and removal, eww!)
