but a year ago today we finally arrived home.

Thanks to all the lovely mumsnetters who supported me and my lovely DS, for the food and comforts parcel couriered over to us in Almaty and the lovely parcel from the BigMoFo's when we got home and for all the lovely comments on my blog. I love you all! (can you tell I'm feeling emotional?!)

Time to start thinking about number 2?

Congrats KC and your georgeous adorable ds - see all those nights of little sleep are so worth it, aren't they KC? [choke] [choke] Number2!!

Artichokes · 23/01/2008 13:47

Congratulations Kew - I read your blog for the first time the other day after we discussed Kazakhstan. I was glued to the screen for hours (much to DH's annoynace). It is an amazing story and Daniel is lucky to have a mum like you.

Buda · 23/01/2008 13:55

Doesn't time fly when you are having fun?!

Bet you feel like you have never been without him.

Whooosh · 23/01/2008 14:01

I am amazed it has been a year-boy does time fly.

He is a lucky boy but number 2????

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 14:01

Artichoke - truly I am the lucky one not him, honest guv. It breaks my heart to know that his bith mother will never know what a lovely little boy she produced.

Number 2 is a mere twinkle in someones eye... but it really wasn't so bad, getting DS.... was it? Wiould insist on gas and air this time though.

OP posts:
Nighbynight · 23/01/2008 14:11

lol it was all the gassing and hot air that was the problem last time, I thought?

newyorkdolls · 23/01/2008 14:22

Kew, has it really been a year? I will always remember how happy we all were when you all finally came home.
But number 2, oh my, I don't think I could cope with number 2.
Who am I kidding, go for it ... you know you want too.

newyorkdolls · 23/01/2008 14:24

That's clever, and very witty nighby.

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 23/01/2008 14:25

Gosh where has the last year gone?!

Number 2?

My Kew you are brave, but wouldn't it be lovely?

LadyMuck · 23/01/2008 14:25

I guess it will always be a special anniversary! Loved the blog. Make sure that you treat yourself today - and ds too!

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 14:26

have had a problem with childcare this week as my mum (who looks after DS on a Wednesday) is ill, DS is ill I am ill but very important I was in work so ended up dumping him on my poor mum anyway

I think as I left... oh my god how would I cope with bloody two!

Would be nice for DS to have a sibling who looks like him though rather than being the odd one out IYSWIM.

I had no idea MN was following my journey so closely! (except those I count as RL freinds)

LadyMuck · 23/01/2008 14:38

Well as a parenting story it does stand out!
I do seem to remember the news at the time but only recently discovered the blog (also from the Kazakhstan thread).

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 14:38

someone I know is going back to USt and I'm sending them a packet of phots of DS so the orphanage can see how well he is doing. I doubt they hear much from the children once they have left.

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 23/01/2008 14:53

go for number two
you know it makes sense
lovely idea to send pics to the orphanage

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 14:54

have you ever thought of becoming a CM steppie... you know it makes sense...!

OP posts:
beemail · 23/01/2008 16:25

Go for it - you'll have someone to keep you company all the way through this time!!
(from one who dragged no 1 all the way through no 2's overseas adoption! They are 2 yrs to the week apart in age)
Actually she still talks about it now and the other day said that one of the best things to happen to her was getting a sister! Having common features in their backgrounds does seem important to them. Best of luck Kew

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 16:29

haven't seen you around beemail - how are you?

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 23/01/2008 16:32

congrats Kew and Gherkin.

Very clearly remember the first day I met ds at Foxie's place. A memory that won't fade too fast.

If you go for #2 would you be fast tracked or have to start all over again?

As to how you'd cope, given what you've already coped with and achieved you know that you just would cope!

Hope your mum and ds and you are all feeling better soon.

I plan to be feeling ill tomorrow but it will be self inflicted I think

PandaG · 23/01/2008 16:36

Congrats KC - seems longer than a year, as if DS has been here forever - I read your blog and your posts here with interest, and sobbed when you got home with him

number 2...you know you want to...!

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 16:36

No fast track but I think the homestudy would be faster as Richmond would essentially use the old homestudy and rewrite bits. Also may have to be a differnt country as I don;t think I could run the risk of being away for 3 motnsh again! But have a cunning plan to get a kazakh child anyway...

I'm hoping it might knock 6 months off to maybe 2.5 yrs. Still a long time.

have fun tonight
