Relationship Breakdown

Has anyone else been in the position where they have adopted a child or children and found that their relationship with their partner breaks down before the adoption order comes through? Because I think that's what is happening to me right now and I would love some advice

We are getting there...but I'm so much happier now. At the time it was very traumatic as I discovered (completely by chance/mistake) some skeletons in their cupboard, which shook me to my core. Couples therapy (in my opinion was a waste of time) but it was agreed that the only way forward was mediation. I would never have thought that the journey would have taken this route but it did. LO is doing really well and has weekly visits with my ex.

I know counselling is not for everyone. Couples therapy or counselling doesn't always 'work' in terms of saving a relationship and it doesn't always work in terms of doing good.

How did mediation work?

Meditation went well and my individual therapy was a life saver.

Yes me. It happened about 14 weeks after my dd was placed with us.

My exdh had a breakdown of sorts and the relationship broke down and he moved out. I was completely open and honest with the sw about what happened. My ex still wanted to adopted her but ss weren't willing to let him do this so they decided to allow me to be a single adopter and this is what I did. My ex continues to have a relationship with her, she calls him Daddy, sees her eow and during holidays. But has no PR for her.
