My lovely boy passed his "MOT"

We had a full developmental assesment done on DS today. Nearly two hours of shape sorting and putting blocks on top of each other and walking etc etc... goodness it was exhausting. Felt like I was doing an exam. First time a doctor has examined him since we got home and the result was...

Based on his adjusted age (he was a 2lb 26 week premmie ) he is absolutely on target for his age physically and mentally he is about a month ahead. No orphanage delays left at all, this from a child who didn't sit up unaided until he was 12 months! No obvious signs of problems from the prematurity, in fact if the blood tests (for anaemia etc) come back normal he doesn't want to see us again.

The doctor kept saying to me "and you've only had him home three months?" .

and for his adjusted age, height is 50centile and weight 25centile. He was at 2% on coming home.

He's a star like his mum, innit. That's wonderful, sue.

Just looked at your profile and he is gorgeous.

Cod, doctor was lovely - kept saying "isn't he a lovely boy" (they're probably trained ot say that but I didn't care). Helpfully he is the medical examiner on the local adoption panel so knew his stuff on adopted children.

and tbh although I take all the creidt I do think a lot of the praise should really be heaped on his genes as he is such a joy and naturally a "trier". I really feel so privileged to be the one that got to wallow in his loveliness!

Zippi - there are days when I could cheerfully strangle him! But most days I just can't believe my luck.

Every report I have ever got from a paediatrician |(work as a salt) starts with 'X is a delightful little boy/girl irrespective of fact that some are downright sods.

and I know no-one believes this but anyone who meets him comments on how much more lovely he is than his photos!

at Moondog - obviously in this case it is true though
