sorry not ignoring you just trying to work out the logistics of living on your own with a 1yr old.

Life together gets better and better (with the odd bit of worse thrown in to help me appreciate the better and better bits)

I am working on a debrief for my website when I get a moment to update eeryone on how we are doing.

ipodthereforipoor · 11/02/2007 20:02

Sue - there are no logistics - just chaos!

suejonez · 11/02/2007 20:04

I just had a single friend around who is also adopting. Broke the bad news to her - never expect anything to be clean ever again, not you, not your baby, not your house. The best you can hope for is to stop salmonella outbreaks.

If I have no snot marks above my waist when I arrive at the office, I count myself presentable. Of course this "snotline" has moved up as my children have grown....wonder what it will be when they are teenagers!
I do remember one classic flight where my ds threw up all over me 1/2 hour into an 11 hour plane flight. I had brought a change of clothes for him, but neglected to bring one for myself.

ghosty · 12/02/2007 08:50

Oh, sue, that reminds me of the filthy looks I got from an obviously childless couple in a cafe the other day. I wasn't wearing anything too posh but it was one of my favourite tops. DD had just eaten a big slice of pizza with her fingers and reached her hands towards me. Before I could stop myself I screeched, "DON'T TOUCH ME!"
... it sounded terrible, and I had the wipes ready to wipe her down as soon as she had finished but honestly, in NZ it is IMPOSSIBLE to get grease stains/paint/tomato soup etc out of clothes and I have lost count of how many ruined tops I have ...

Glad all is well with you and your little man

ghosty · 12/02/2007 08:51

EEEEWWW sofiaames ...

ghosty · 12/02/2007 08:54

And then there was the time my friend was literally rolling on the floor laughing at me at a fair when DD was happily tucking into an ice cream with raspberry sauce on it. Ice cream scoop fell, "Plop" on the grass so I quickly picked it up to put it back in DD's cone. It fell off again but that time straight into my lap. DD was distraught and launched herself into my arms, cue copious smearing of ice cream and raspberry sauce all over my clothes as she clung to me with her raspberry pink hand and burrowed her raspberry pink face into my chest.
I thought my friend was going to wet herself

Suejonez, just wanted to say "well done and congratulations" my pc had me out of the loop while you were away. So very GLAD that you have a son and pray that you both have a happy and loving life together.

For those who asked... there is a shortish update on the website both on "We're Home" and the final page.

here

tribpot · 21/02/2007 10:09

Trying not to blub in the office now.

Btw, the link isn't working - try this

JanH · 21/02/2007 10:11

Oh, sue (plus small blub)

PandaG · 21/02/2007 10:19

I am glad that I am home so I can blub openly. I don't know you Sue, but I have been following your story, and am so happy for you. [watery]

ComeOVeneer · 21/02/2007 10:23

Just read the update, Sue and having a wee weep. Ds just went off to the bathroom and came back with a huge peice of toilet paper and said "paper nose mummy?" and handed it to me to wipe my eyes. So pleased you are enjoying your new life as a mum. Looking forward to meeting you and D tomorrow .

Hulababy · 21/02/2007 10:25

Amaxing story; have been reading regularly fromt he MN links. I hope you and Daniel continue to enjoy one another and life just gets better and better for you and your baby son.

princessmel · 21/02/2007 10:33

What a lovely end message on your website.

I have been following this story on mn.

I'm glad you are getting on ok and enjoying each other.

suejonez · 21/02/2007 12:34

"paper nose mummy?" - lol at cov's dd - is that a regular occurance then?!

Reminds me of when I was howling over some further delay in Kaz and Daniel tried to put his dummy in my mouth. Bless.

honeybrown · 21/02/2007 12:52

Sue - it's stories like yours that make you sit down and realise that life is good....
I wish you and Daniel a fulfilling and wonderful life together.

Budababe · 10/04/2007 10:11

Have been wondereing how you were doing and have been off line for a month. So pleased it is all going well.

Loved Sarah's comment - made me cry.

FairyOnTheChristmasTree · 01/05/2007 20:03

You are the most amazing person Suejonez. That little boy has everything to live for now and he is positively gorgeous. Your story is incredibly touching. I had tears welling up in my eyes reading your story. What an inspirational woman you are. Daniel is such a lucky boy to have such a fabulous mummy.

cazzybabs · 01/05/2007 20:12

Sue I think both you and Daniel are amazing and many a time your extremely eloquent writing has had me in tears! GOOD LUCK!

suejonez · 02/05/2007 14:21

OK big confession I'm not actually THAT amazing (or only a little) my actions were entirely driven by selfishness and shockingly it has been rewarded by the loveliest boy you can imagine (just like most mums I guess!).

BigGitDad · 02/05/2007 15:58

Just you make sure he has a good upbringing and that he finds a good English rugby club like Wasps to support..

suejonez · 02/05/2007 16:16

Sadly BGD - have already decided to join London Welsh as they are v close to me and run mini rugby clubs. Of course he's barely walking yet so may be a little premature to decide that... he may prefer ballet

BigGitDad · 02/05/2007 16:25

Ballet in the early years is fine as it will teach balance and coordination. In the later years he will need hand eye coordination, something suited to rugby like boxing
I hope my little fella goes onto play rugby, I am planning on doing a coaching course so I can get involved. (Hoping I'll be more a Woodward than a Robinson!)
My wife is aiming more for Horse riding, would you believe it another Harvey Smith?
