3 months ago I was convinced it would be a long time before I got this lucky and was dreading another Christmas without my child being home.

Today has made all the totally shit days, weeks and months all worth while.

Added bonus is he actually seemed to like me and made numerous demands for toe eating and tower building!

Can't wait for tomorrow but until then it's Wine o'clock

How lovely. Smile

onedayimightforget · 02/12/2016 21:50

Never before have I cried at a thread but I just happened to stumble across this and I think I might have something in my eye. Many congratulations on your one year anniversary. Love to you both.

Asuitablemum · 04/12/2016 23:07

Happy anniversary to you both! What a lovely story of your meeting. What is he up to now?

MintyLizzy9 · 05/12/2016 07:13

He's growing up quickly is what he's up to! He has made great progress in catching up. This time last year he was very unsteady in his feet as he had very poor core strength and virtually no speech. He can now charge around and climb and jump and still has delayed speech but is making wonderful progress learning new words every week. His confidence is wonderful to see and he loves playing with other children now, was never keen before.

Our first ever trip to a large supermarket lasted all of five minutes as he had a full on meltdown, it was just too much and he was terrified, now he gets the hump if he can't go into the 'shopping house' (supermarket) for a look around Grin

We can have some lovely days out now and have squeezed in a few short breaks which he has loved. We have even managed a short plane ride to my parents home country to meet lots of his great aunts and uncles. Safe to say he has done more in the last six months than he had done in his previous 2 1/2 years! His thirst to explore is his biggest change I think, he loves being out and about and investigating so we are hardly home in the day.

It is lovely to see him grow in so many ways, it's bloody hard work at times to keep the therapeutic parenting going and I've hid in the bathroom a number of times for a couple of minutes to shout into a towel and have drank enough gin to sink a ship !

For the first time I could see myself doing this again....but then I give my head a wobble, Grin

A lovely thread to read Minty.

The merriest of days to you and your wee boy, not just now but always.

Kr1stina · 05/12/2016 16:28

What a lovely update, I hope you both have a very special Christmas

Asuitablemum · 06/12/2016 08:35

Thanks for the update minty. He sounds adorable and you sound like a fantastic mummy.

vimtoqueen1 · 06/12/2016 09:09

Amazing news ! our 2 LO's have been home 8 months now and they were both under 2 when they came home. It is knackering at the beginning and our backs suffered! co-codamol after they had gone to bed helped and ibrufon during the day!
Our pink LO is now nearly 2.5 and is a handful! my patience skills have come on a treat and it is hard when they are naughty and you get angry and then 2 mins later have to be happy again as the tantrum has passed and they want to play, hug, be thrown round the room etc.
There is a great group on Facebook called Therapeutic parenting which has really helped me!
good luck !

MintyLizzy9 · 06/12/2016 10:36

Thanks everyone.

Thanks vimto I'm going to have a look at that. I need something today, we had pretty much cracked potty training but since yesterday it's worse than day one, he is purposely just peeing anywhere bar the loo or potty and smirking and it was once to often earlier and I shouted 😟 So far today my duvet has taken the hit at least three times that I've seen, need to buy a new one this afternoon, it's like having a little Tom cat!

Hats off to you with TWO toddlers!!!

OP posts:
vimtoqueen1 · 06/12/2016 12:58

We haven't got to potty training yet thank god although Pink has started telling me when she has done a no 2!
Hats must go off to my amazing husband as he is the stay at home dad while I am back in work now.
Nursery for Pink since age 2 has helped hugely with her speech and overall development ! Little blue is still tiny in 9-12 months clothes (that are still really too big) at 18 months.

Lovelylolz · 07/12/2016 17:32

Aw congratulations Minty Grin

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/12/2016 17:42

What a fabulous thread, you sound like a lovely family.

I'm adopted and had an amazing childhood, think the absolute world of my mum and dad.

Mintylizzy9 · 02/12/2017 01:04

Well I'm back on this thread again as it's officially TWO YEARS!!! 🎉🎊

Really don't know where the time is going.

DS is doing amazingly well I'm so proud of him. He managed to swim 4 foot across the pool today unaided after months of lessons 🤗

Hes such a different boy than two years ago, his confidence is staggering and he just gets cheekier each year!

We're in the throes of theraplay so the fallout has been 'interesting' but for all the challenges it has created I can already see the benefits as his barriers are slowly falling away.

Last year I was worried that he'd never talk, this year I'm worried about what he'll bellow in public....ooh mummy's big boobies or one memorable trip to the coop - grandad has a biiiig widgie and I have a small widgie and mummy's widgie is hiding 🤦🏻‍♀️

Last year I was worried that he'd never have friends, this year he has two henchmen mates and seems very popular with all the girls in preschool given the cries of byyyyyyyyye DS and scuffling to hug him goodbye. We've even been invited to play dates by the same mum MORE THAN ONCE 😁

I swear he is part jack Russel as any bit of mud or water in he's in there and covered in it, but is also sporting a rather fetching pink manicure today.

So thought I'd do a quick update as I'm lay here not able to sleep thinking about everything.

This is the first time I've come across this thread, and as a single adopter coming to the end of a gruelling stage 2, this is so inspiring!!

Congratulations Minty!!!! 🎉🍾🍷

Lovely update. As a prospective adopter, I've read some very negative stories lately so a positive update like this is very reassuring.
