We heard from our SW yesterday that the childs SW wants to go ahead with us!! Yay!!

The childs SW is off sick this week and didn't ring mine back at the end of last week so she had to chase it with the manager. Our SW apologised for the wait as she realises how agonsising it is - and it was!

So, we need a panel date and our SW is going to try and arrange this even though the other SW is off, with the aim of having a deadline (as the childs SW doesn't seem to be very on the ball!)

Hoping there is a slot left on the mid Feb panel but if not it will prob be the very start of March.

I just can't believe it. I know it's not 'in the bag' yet but we have waited soooo long to be parents and can't believe that it now within reach!! All being well we could have a little 18 month old boy in the house by March/April!!!

I have just read your thread flossy. We adopted a little boy last August, he was 15 months at the time. It was very exciting and emotional and the past 7 months have flown. In that time our son has surpassed my expectations, he gradually attached to us and his love and affection has grown in stages so that now he is very loving and secure with us. It has been amazing so far - an absolute shell shock at first if i am honest but absolutely the best thing to happen in our lives. I wish you all the joy with your son that we have had from ours.

Ahhh, just reading this thread because it was in 'most active' convos and am now having a little (joyful!) cry for you.

Hope today is brilliant, I will check back over the next few days to see how you felt.

So Flossy,
What's been happening?
How did the first meeting go?
Are you into the introduction process already?

(We are just coming up to being approved so I can only dream of your excitement) ;o)

Take care

TC ;o)

Hi folks,

FINALLY have mo to drop in!!

Thanks for all the good wishes! You are all soooo lovely.

The first meeting went really well. He is a lovely little boy and after being a bit wary was full of giggles when we first met him.

We are nearly done with intros now. Day off tomorrow so the FCs can say their goodbyes and then we bring him home for good on Thurs morning - eeeeek! Grin

He is currently in the travel cot having a nap, and snoring like a fully grown adult Smile

All has been going swimmingly well but the last day or so has been a bit tricky. He is full of cold so yesterday he just couldn't be bothered and was a bit subdued. When we took him back at the end of the day he woke up and then was inconsolable. Both us and the FCs were there and the poor little thing just didn't know what to do. He kept looking between us all and it's like he was trying to figure out who he wanted and maybe where his loyalties were. He wouldn't go down in his cot so we had to say our goodbyes and leave. I sobbed for half the journey back.
The downside with the intros is that the FCs are 45 mins away so there's no way we can keep him awake for the whole journey - especially when he has had a bath and his milk, and is all warm and cosy in his jamas.

Today he is not very well either and he has been out of sortes today so we'll have to see how it goes this evening.

The FC is really experienced and she said that he is ready to move now. She has seen the confused look in his eyes for a few days now.

Good luck with you approval TimsterC!!!

flossy - I have no experience of adoption, but I do have a 15mo ds, and your story has brought tears to my eyes.

Wishing you lots and lots of luck tomorrow.

GeekCool · 23/03/2011 15:23

Flossy, I wish you and your OH the best for tomorrow! How exciting, I'm sure it will really sink in when you don't have to take him back to the FC tomorrow night! :o
