Has just had another baby

is it to old at 79? is it fair on the child?
I know any parent could die younger but the odds are much against him seeing his Childs 18th birthday

It’s far too old, my late uncle had a friend with a younger wife who became a father to IVF twins in his 60’s, he died in his early 70’s. I was widowed in my 40’s, but my children were older teens and an 11 year old and when they were born had a good chance of having a father into adulthood.

I suppose the only thing you can say in this situation is that the child won’t be left in poverty.

Whatt · 10/05/2023 14:06

God, I thought he passed away ffs.
Your title ...

frozendaisy · 10/05/2023 14:06

Surely his genetic material has declined though. Regardless of the rest.

CindersAgain · 10/05/2023 14:07

Is it meant to say ‘past it’?

AllOfThemWitches · 10/05/2023 14:07

Who cares, he's rich

peachescariad · 10/05/2023 14:08

Yes

Zippedydoo123 · 10/05/2023 14:08

Yes I think it is totally selfish to bring an innocent child into the world at that age.

MaggieFS · 10/05/2023 14:09

That sounds like he's died!!

Eightiesgirl · 10/05/2023 14:10

I also thought he'd died from your title. Please get it changed.

TonTonMacoute · 10/05/2023 14:11

AllOfThemWitches · 10/05/2023 14:07

Who cares, he's rich

Not that rich, he has a large alimony bill apparently!

The mother of this child must be mad.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 10/05/2023 14:11

Bloody stupid idea.

If it's actually his sperm, he's given the child a far greater risk of a whole host of lifelong medical issues.

Plus he will probably die while the child is in infancy. If, big if, the kid is lucky he might live long enough for the child to have some memories of "daddy" but nothing much. And, unlike someone who's father died unexpectedly while they were young, this child will know that their father had them in the full knowledge and expectation that they probably wouldn't see their tenth birthday, possibly not even their fifth.

Intentionally depriving a child of a parent is just unethical.

ditalini · 10/05/2023 14:13

Who knows why and how the super rich do what they do. Apparently his partner is past her mid 40s as well, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that neither was genetically involved.

Me too! Edit the title ffs!

MuffinToSeeHere · 10/05/2023 14:14

Absolutely too old but sadly he won't care and it's his child who will be left to suffer with the loss of their parent at an early age. I doubt the money he has will mean much to the child, who would rather have a dad.

I'm surprised so many people think your title infers he's died though, it's blatantly obvious to me that you've just missed a word out. If he'd died why would the title refer to the baby?

TomatoSandwiches · 10/05/2023 14:15

It's irresponsible for someone his age to have children and I would question the motives and sanity of the woman he impregnated, it's all a bit grim imo.

Wishitsnows · 10/05/2023 14:20

A woman over the age of 55 would be absolutely slated for having a child. He doesn’t seem to be getting half the hate a woman would and he is unlikely to be around by the time the child is in school.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 10/05/2023 14:29

Re the title, it's because it's not just a missed out word.

Past it = too old / gone past best.

Passed = gone past a certain point or a euphemism for dying.

@Whichnumbers if you report your thread to MN you can ask them to amend the title.

adriftabroad · 10/05/2023 14:31

OFGS re The Title of thread. Who cares.

OP he is too old IMO.

MarinatemysoulinSprite · 10/05/2023 14:33

Surely it's his partner who has had the baby, not him?

He has become a father.

Pahpahpotato · 10/05/2023 14:35

What a twat. So selfish and irresponsible.

LakeTiticaca · 10/05/2023 14:38

Very selfish. Just as female egg quality declines with age, sperm also does .
So this poor innocent child could end up not only losing his father at a very young age, but also enduring life long health problems

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 10/05/2023 14:38

My Dad’s father was 65 when my Dad was born. It did affect him negatively. Plus, I never knew my paternal grandparents as they died long before I was born.

borntobequiet · 10/05/2023 14:39

MarinatemysoulinSprite · 10/05/2023 14:33

He has become a father.

This.

piedbeauty · 10/05/2023 14:46

🤮

Ridiculous selfish thing to do. He should be way past fathering babies at that age. He's clearly got a much younger wife 🙄

Beezknees · 10/05/2023 14:50

Nobody should be having kids at that age. Gross.
