Has just had another baby

is it to old at 79? is it fair on the child?
I know any parent could die younger but the odds are much against him seeing his Childs 18th birthday

🤮

Ridiculous selfish thing to do. He should be way past fathering babies at that age. He's clearly got a much younger wife 🙄

Not wife, just girlfriend apparently. Lets face it, she needs something to financially tie her to him (i.e. a baby) - why else would a woman in her 40's go near a 79 year old man.

IncompleteSenten · 10/05/2023 14:51

For normal people yes.
But this is celeb world.
It's a whole different game.

MondayYogurt · 10/05/2023 14:52

I wonder if his views on autism have changed since his last child was born.

God, I thought he passed away ffs.
Your title ...

Me too!

Past it, not passed.

Surely it's his partner who has had the baby, not him?

He has become a father.

Well quite. And other than that it's no-one's else's business. I especially like the "WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!" responses

MondayYogurt · 10/05/2023 14:54

Oh didn’t realise he’s had another since then, this will be his 8th.

Very selfish. Just as female egg quality declines with age, sperm also does .
So this poor innocent child could end up not only losing his father at a very young age, but also enduring life long health problems

He already has an Autistic son in his 20s, but he blamed that on vaccines

Bloody stupid idea.

If it's actually his sperm, he's given the child a far greater risk of a whole host of lifelong medical issues.

Plus he will probably die while the child is in infancy. If, big if, the kid is lucky he might live long enough for the child to have some memories of "daddy" but nothing much. And, unlike someone who's father died unexpectedly while they were young, this child will know that their father had them in the full knowledge and expectation that they probably wouldn't see their tenth birthday, possibly not even their fifth.

Intentionally depriving a child of a parent is just unethical.

How would his sperm give the child a lifetime of medical issues?

piedbeauty · 10/05/2023 15:04

@Farmageddon - she must be mad, desperate or stupid then. Who would deliberately set out to ttc with such an old man?

DiscoBeat · 10/05/2023 15:12

So, <to the girlfriend> what attracted you to the billionaire actor Robert de Niro.

Well he's not your typical grandad Alf from the local is he?

I think it's reckless of him, but maybe she wanted a child and knowing her and the child would be financially secure forever, softened the blow that he's not going to be around for a long time.

I don't recall this much outrage over Des O'Gonner

pontipinemum · 10/05/2023 15:25

@SugarAndSpike I'm not sure on the science at all, but there are higher risks there will be medical issues for the child if the father is older.

It is madness, but hopefully the baby has a good mother and probably won't need for much in a financial sense. I can't imagine he will be a very hands on dad!! Maybe his gf will be on here complaining that her bf isn't pulling his weight with the baby

thejadefish · 10/05/2023 17:56

Despite being an older parent myself (age 45 when DC born) I think he's too old. I asked my Dad (age 72) what he thought about Jon Snow becoming a father again at age 70 (on the basis that my dad knows what it feels like to be 70 & how would he cope in that situation) and he said 70 was far too old longevity aside you just don't have the energy to really parent in your 70's. I can just imagine his response to 79! I know they'll have staff, but still...

Sperm deteriorates with age so children of fathers over 45 have more health problems.

LlynTegid · 10/05/2023 18:40

Sad that there are women happy to have a child with someone that age. Whether it be because of the man's fame, money or their low self-esteem.

I think TV producer Norman Lear was like 80 and had a 7 year old daughter. He's 100 now. No idea what kind of, if any issues, she had or might have had.

Well it's not guaranteed! It is, however, statistically far more likely that a child of a father over about 45 will have health problems, including a higher risk of downs and other chromosomal disorders, autism and schizophrenia.

HolidayHankering · 10/05/2023 19:26

The mum is Tiffany Chen, a martial arts star, according to the article I read she first won a prestigious martial arts thing in 2011 when she was 26.

So she would be 38 now?

In fairness we have no way of knowing if the baby was planned! Maybe it was a surprise, we have no idea.

Robert De Nero's 24 year old son has Autism

Speedweed · 10/05/2023 19:33

I'd be very surprised if it's actually his sperm.... He goes along with it as it makes him look virile and studly in the eyes of the world.

BeverlyHa · 10/05/2023 19:46

Unless like the Queen he dies at the age of 99

HolidayHankering · 10/05/2023 20:09

drpet49 · 10/05/2023 19:43

Money, money, money

This is quite judgemental.

None of us have any clue as to the circumstances of this baby being born. I think it's really unfair to judge the mother as "mad, desperate or stupid" and jump to these conclusions.

Now it's here, hopefully the baby will have a great life.
