Need cheering up, group of kids just made pig noises at me

Just that. I was on a bike ride when I came across a group of about 9 11-12yr olds (who I know) coming the other way (cycle path). One of them said 'it's Mrs.... ' (I work in primary school) and another proceeded to then start snorting like a pig. Yes, I'm a little overweight and I guess they were showing off to each other. BUT I have non-exsistent self esteem and now feel even worse 🙁. Any useful advice on how to get over this as I'm feeling very sad.

I would ensure that their parents were made aware. The next adult they try it with might turn on them.

hotmumshit · 18/10/2026 17:06

Oh op, im sorry

Ive been there - kids are fucking horrible little shits

Fwiw it won't be about you. Any adult looking slightly 'different' is a potential target to the youths xx

Deal with their rude behaviour first thing Monday morning in school.

HoppityBun · 18/10/2026 17:07

They’re little fuckers.

That’s all there is to it.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 18/10/2026 17:07

Are they from your school?

I'd be identifying the little shits tomorrow and ensuring the parents were made aware

Depressing how early the misogyny starts.

DrWhosJazzyScarf · 18/10/2026 17:08

Kids can be so bloody cruel. I had a teenager ask me the other day, ‘Good workout? You look rank’ because I was hot and sweaty (god bless perimenopause and the virus that’s doing the rounds).

Are the children still at your school? It’s horrible that they think saying something like that is ok, even if trying to show off. I’d be in two minds as to whether to tell the head/phase leader and see if they suggest a conversation. This is definitely something I would have followed up when I was in leadership (indeed, we did with a lot of mouthy ‘knock door run’ners).

Hope you’re feeling better. Don’t let the buggers grind you down, and good on you for getting out on your bike.

PullTheBricksDown · 18/10/2026 17:08

They can be awful in groups when egging each other on. Did you react? If not then pat yourself on the back - best response is just to ignore and not give them a reaction. If any of them says anything this week 'we sawyou on the path miss'), say 'I did see you but I had my earphones in'. But I wouldn't be cutting them any slack for anything in future.

DrWhosJazzyScarf · 18/10/2026 17:08

PS. Love your username.

cartagenagina · 18/10/2026 17:10

I agree I would take it further. The next person they are vile to might slap them (or worse)

You might be overweight, but you were out enjoying yourself, exercising. They must feel quite insecure to behave the way they did, as well as a bit thick.

Hopefully they are now going to worry all night about school tomorrow. Little shits.

devildeepbluesea · 18/10/2026 17:12

What the actual? I’d come down on them so hard on Monday they would never, ever dream of being so callous ever again. I loathe bullies, and I don’t make excuses for age (not that at 11-12 they are young in this context).

Im sorry this happened to you OP. I honestly despair of parenting skills these days.

Please do this OP. They should be taught a lesson from this so hopefully at least a couple of them may learn from it. I’d be mortified if it was my child.

Namechangewegovyjune26 · 18/10/2026 17:13

Are they now at high school hence now acting like twats and thinking the primary school won’t do anything about it? I’d report to the secondary school in that case with full names.

HelpMeGetThrough · 18/10/2026 17:13

Possibly others will disagree, but any way I could find to make their school time increasingly uncomfortable, I would.

One by one, they wouldn’t be enjoying their school day so much.

ETA: just re-read and see they may not be at your school, I’d still find a way to fuck them over.

LondonLass2026 · 18/10/2026 17:14

Op, I'm so sorry.

These little brats will pick on anything at all. I'm not overweight and I just went for a run. When I passed the kids play bit that they oh-so-helpfully have to build on each new build estate, the kids made eye contact and then started screaming when I ran by. Just that. Screaming their heads off. I hadn't put my music on yet and it scared the life out of me.

Absolute idiots they can be.

Aw, OP, I'm sorry.
I am a size 20 and take it in my stride.
My secondary students know I have no fucks to give in that regard and am teflon.
These ingrats I assume are year 7 and you once taught them.
I am a petty fuck so I'd be contacting their secondary heads to put onto Sims they have brought their school into disrepute by harassing a member of the public.
Alternatively if I could be arsed to look it up I'd contact the parent of the ringleader. He'll tell his mates.
But only if I had the energy tbh. I would have responded, "Oi! I know your parents, remember!" or "Rude!" or because I am eccentric, might have joined in along with "Slowest cyclist gets eaten!"
Because I have no fucks to give.

Please take no notice. Flowers

Charlenedickens · 18/10/2026 17:16

I afraid you need to deal with this, I’m guessing you’re not a teacher and work in a different capacity?

NormasArse · 18/10/2026 17:24

Little oiks.

A group of youths shouted, “You’re an old cunt” out of their car window at me when I was walking the dog. I’m a cunt, yes, but I thought I looked young for 60.

It’s really hard, but I wouldn’t take it personally. I would let their school know though, so they can plan a PSHE lesson around what happens after a throwaway comment like that.

ElixirMaker · 18/10/2026 17:25

If you know who they are report them to their school. Don't leave it. And honestly it wouldn't matter what size you were they would have probably shouted something. They are arseholes in groups at this age, trying to seem big and hard.

I had some smug secondary school children in a group all shoving each other whilst walking down the pavement and I was parked up waiting to pick my child up. One child got shoved into my car and they all just laughed whilst looking right at me. No apology, no worrying about damaging my car. It was one hell of a shove.

The next day they all looked at the floor as they passed my car again. I had reported their behaviour to the school complete with a photo of them to make them easily identifiable. I was looking right at them as they walked past.

LilyBunch25 · 18/10/2026 17:26

I sincerely hope you don’t work anywhere near children or young people.

Thank you everyone for the support.

Why not? They’re utter shits and need hauling over the coals.

Anyusernamewilldo8963 · 18/10/2026 19:19

I agree with PP that they would've picked on you regardless of your weight, they were clearly showing off to each other and likely expect no consequences if they have indeed moved on to a new school as I suspect. I also agree with PP that you shouldn't let this slide, yes it's young kids being stupid with their peers egging them on and I think a lot of the population probably did similar at this age, wanting to look good/big/brave in front of our mates but how will we teach children not to grow up into bullying adults if they aren't called out and understand why this behaviour isn't acceptable at a young age instead of letting it go as its "low level stuff" "not a big deal" "they are only kids"

I'm sorry you experienced this, woman to woman to cheer you up as you requested, I'm too a bit overweight and I'm scrolling mumsnet in my pj's eating a tub of ice cream. I don't even own a bike and the most exercise I got today was walking to the freezer and back to the sofa! Screw what other people think, you are actively improving your health both physically and mentally by getting out there and doing that bike ride so you are way ahead of me! Keep doing what you're doing and don't let anyone put you off x

MyFavouritePlace · 18/10/2026 19:27

Stupid little shits! They'll become ignorant adults!

I know it's easier said than done but just ignore what they said. I remember almost 20 years ago my friend's daughter said I look like a witch, I have a couple of small gaps and that still hurts when I remember 😞

I'm not a witch and you're not a pig.

MumofGreyhound · 18/10/2026 19:32

As everyone else says, you know who they are, you can and should follow this up with their school. They are little shits who need to learn how to behave respectfully. If they behave like this towards women at age 11, I dread to think what they will be like at 18.
“Not all men”, right? But it’s always men.
