Thank you @FourSeasonsLobelia 🩷

Love the gif - if you can all picture a grown woman, running through the pile leaves collected at the side of the busy London road, on the way home from drop off - you'll picture me 🙈😄

Peridot1 · 18/10/2026 13:05

Thanks for the new thread @FourSeasonsLobelia.

Lazy day here so not much to say. Need to get a list going for the week.

Have a great Sunday all.

Thoughts with you and yours @SingleThreadJoiner2.

Hello 👋

WideOpenBeaches · 18/10/2026 22:00

Thanks for the new thread @FourSeasonsLobelia

Friday I finished the 6 week course I was helping to run for DA survivors. It was an emotional session full of tea, tissues and cake, but I think they’ve all gelled and they have a WA group going so I hope they’ll support each other.

Meanwhile I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I’ve been mainly eating for the last 24 hours 😆

Dinner out last night and after a long walk this morning, a late Sunday lunch. I love ‘almost’ wasting a day eating good food with friends.

My Ex thought long Sunday lunches were a waste of time, so it’s something I especially enjoy doing now. (6 years later I still enjoy some micro aggressions!)

Have a good week everyone!

petalpower · 18/10/2026 22:28

It sounds like something really amazing you’re achieving there @WideOpenBeaches .
Lovely day here: a dog walk avoiding the showers, followed by a breakfast at the pub with friends, catch up on the phone with DH in far off lands. Both adult children have life issues going on so lots of chats and supporting them. Decided today was the day to turn the thermostat up and let the central heating come on if the house was below 18C. Also had the wood burner going last night and tonight - very cosy!
Today’s projecteering:

  • with the help of DS booked flights for a long haul trip in the spring
  • swapped winter and summer clothes
  • various admin jobs for my charity roles
Peridot1 · 19/10/2026 16:17

Hello all.

Lovely day here after a dull and wet start. Very autumnal. Jealous of your log burner @petalpower. We had one in the living room but took it out and replaced with an electric fire. Semi regret it but DH didn’t think we’d ever use it as this house gets very warm anyway due to underfloor heating.

A pottering about Monday here. Laundry, changed a bed and washed bedding, emptied and reloaded dishwasher and cleaned kitchen. Did some more sorting of my wardrobe. Did some tidying and cleaning in my bedroom. Cleared out a drawer in dressing table. Sorted out sweater drawers. Started a charity bag.

WideOpenBeaches · 19/10/2026 18:08

That’s an admirable list @Peridot1

Im off on holiday tomorrow for a week in the hope of seeing the last bit of summer in the Med, so have been racing round packing and shutting up the house. I just paused to check a ‘ping’ on my phone to discover I’d sold something on EBay and the buyer had paid… so it needed sending ASAP.

I got my apologetic foot in the door of the village PO at 5.26 and they rather grumpily dealt with it.

PHEW!

petalpower · 19/10/2026 20:29

A bit of a pottering day for me too although I did go to the tip (now rebranded as the recycling centre) this morning to drop of the old ironing board and some other bits. Called in at Tesco on the way past and filled up with diesel too so quite a productive little trip. I did a bit of sorting in my wardrobe this afternoon and made a shepherd’s pie which is my daughter’s favourite.
Enjoy your holiday @WideOpenBeaches !

Peridot1 · 19/10/2026 21:24

Have a lovely holiday @WideOpenBeaches.

sounds like a good pottering day @petalpower. I quite fancy shepherds pie now…

FourSeasonsLobelia · 20/10/2026 08:45

Have a lovely holiday @WideOpenBeaches !

Oooh.... shepherds pie.

I have a massive cleaning day ahead. I did nothing over the weekend and it shows. Out tomorrow for a funeral (4 hours drive away so that's the day spoken for) and our cleaner arrives Thursday. Our older cat also got herself snuggled in DH's workshop between one of his machine tools and another of his machine tools and she has covered herself in grease so I need to gird my loins and give her a bath.

OP posts:
WintersFrog · 20/10/2026 09:02

All go with everyone here I see!
Oh bless her 🐈 @FourSeasonsLobelia! Good luck with the bath 🙏

I have lots of bitty things to do today. They are nagging at me and making me feel a bit out of sorts. They will take no time at all once i get going but I'm worrying about what order to do them in.

I just need to start. I have to be somewhere at 11am so i shall write a list then aim to get at least a couple of them done beforehand.

Peridot1 · 20/10/2026 11:16

Good morning all. Pouring down with rain here and it just makes me want to do nothing.

Woke up at three and couldn’t get back to sleep so got up at 7.30 and made a cup of tea and said good bye to DS as he headed off to work and went straight back to bed. Managed to get back to sleep and woke up at 10.

Was planning a trip to our nearest M&S to take back a couple of things but don’t fancy going out in the rain. I am turning into my mother who hated going out in the rain and couldn’t understand anyone who did.

Think I will continue my pottering and sorting and cleaning in my bedroom. And do some laundry.

Have a great day all.

Aria999 · 20/10/2026 13:19

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/10/2026 07:06

Hello lovely thread friends. 💛

Had a busy day today, all the usual, but add in phone call with one of my mum's specialists.
Baby fell asleep at noon which put a wrench into my plan to get outside together until school pick-up, so did another load of laundry; sorted and listed the clothes in the box to drop at charity, fishing out two items for garbage, folding nicely and packing in plastic bags I save from the diaper box which are perfect; hunted a bit for my box of shoe polishes etc, frustrated as cannot find and I have a decent pair of runners to donate. I just need leather cleaner and spray and I know they'll look new again and I already popped them in the wash.
I've got some very nice kids clothes I'm considering trying to sell because they're in such good condition, but I know I'll likely fold/box/drop and be done.
I also have two play-pens, one never opened, 🙄that I should sell and two pack and plays I'll donate.
Next hing I kneer I needed to rush to school pick-up. Took Baby with me then surprised them with plans to go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. A school friend and parents joined us and it was lovely, a very nice family. After about two hours touring around friends headed home and we stayed for hot chocolate and french fries before going home. Kids loved that we sat around a gas fire in adirondack chairs. 😄
Dinner was chicken pie in our pj's, watching Snoopy cartoons then bed.🥰

Hello! Hope meeting went well @Aria999!

Oh it's all go isn't it? I want to curl up with a book and have no responsibilities.

I like my commitments really, and I am working on a couple of things family wise that will stay done. Then I probably won't know what to do with myself.

I have barely been home today so at least I've not made a mess, and I have identified some of my patents' books that can go, so that is a good job jobbed. Smug soup and toast for tea!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/10/2026 06:11

Hello all lovely thread friends!!

Hugs to everyone. @Mumtobabyhavoc I often read your posts of what you do with The Havocs with wistful longing. It sounds just great.

I was out all day yesterday at a wake. It was lovely. Filled with tears and laughter. We were back late yet I was up bright and bouncy (well, maybe not bouncy) at 5 am.

Today i have boring old life admin. Sigh. And tidy. Double sigh. And clean DS1's new textbooks because he has it in his head that they will contaminate him (we are currently dealing with increasingly severe OCD tendencies and although he;s having counseling I'm not quite sure how to handle it when at home).

Otherwise, all okay here. Just trotting along.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Oh- I've just decided on my Daily Project. I'm going to clean all the light switches we have. They are chrome so get a bit finger-printy.

Lobelia, sending 💛

I messed up with my mum's IV this morning by accidentally removing the top of the picc line, so after school drop-off had to stop at hospital for a replacement. Also did banking at atm. Tomorrow I will be picking up her week's supply of meds and supplies.
Took Baby to Science World and then we went to the car wash at Baby's insistence 😂
and I vacuumed the car and then we were off to school pick-up.
After school we went to a motorcycle dealership to look around (just something different for the kids; I'm not buying) 😂 then for burgers for dinner after.
Got the kids bathed, into bed and asleep before 8pm and even I managed to have a bath and get into my pj's right after them. 😅
Prepped Havoc's lunch which will be rigatoni with evoo and butter, feta and black pepper, bell pepper slices and a boiled egg which I did one day last week and Havoc was quite pleased. 🙌🥳😅 Snack is tbd. I think I'll add a couple of Oreos as well as a treat. I did that last week, too, and it was the first thing Havoc mentioned after school. 😂
My mum used to give me two Fudgee-O's as a treat in my school lunch. 🙂

I've put a load of laundry into the dryer, wiped the kitchen floor and I'm done.
It's quitting time! 🎉🎊🥳
I'm having a Perrier and watching Blackberry, before bed, though. I'm tired, but I've got so many shows pvr'd and I need to get through them. 🥱

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/10/2026 08:05

Yum to the food plans @Mumtobabyhavoc My mother used to give me 'chickadees'.

https://www.chickadees.com.au/our-range/chickadees/

Love the car wash trip. My DCs used to insist on us going to Currys (store that sells tvs and electronics). It got to the point where I would take a very little picnic hamper with us and when the staff saw us coming they would quietly change the channels on the tvs from sport to CBeebies. Bless them. Grin

I have just gone into my spam folder and discovered to my horror that I am 2 months overdue paying an invoice for something I had no idea was due. They are threatening county court action. I am FURIOUS with myself for not checking my spam folders more often! The payment link has expired so I need to call them.

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/10/2026 08:29

Lobelia, chicken flavoured ---? Crackers? 🤔
Yikes to the overdue bill! I missed a credit card payment last month somehow and thought the emails and phone calls about it was just phishing and spoofing due to a recent data breach I was victim of. I was paranoid to return the calls, so I finally went to the bank after calling the credit card company on the phone number back of the credit card. Explained my paranoia and reason for ignoring their calls 😂

Movie is done. Popped my night guard in and I'm off to bed. 😂

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/10/2026 08:34

I know re the crackers! They are like wotsits that we have in the UK.

Since I left Oz 27-ish years ago they ahve gone crazy on the chicken salt. I am sure our @Peridot1 will confirm. Grin . You get chicken salt on chips, on wedges, on potato cakes, everything. I think chickadees must have been the start of a slippery slope.

I'm calling the company at 9. IT's only a £14 missed payment and I genuinely cannot understand why all the e-mails from their accounts department were sorted into junk mail when none of the other ones from their tech team were. But it seems like a lie to say 'It all went into JUNK!!!!'. It's not though.

These things stress me out tbh.

OP posts:
SingleThreadJoiner2 · 22/10/2026 08:42

I hope it's easily resolved @FourSeasonsLobelia !

@Mumtobabyhavoc I had a vision of you buying a sidecar and bundling the kids in on your adventures... 😁

Peridot1 · 22/10/2026 09:27

Hello all.

That sounds really frustrating @FourSeasonsLobelia about the bill. I check my junk mail folder every day. I am regularly surprised by what has ended up there.

I haven’t actually tried chicken salt in Australia. Hadn’t heard of it till last year and my friend there isn’t keen so I didn’t get to try. Make next year I will give it a go.

Love that you took the kids to a motorcycle dealership @Mumtobabyhavoc! When DS was little I used to take him to a nearby DIY store that sold things like cement mixers etc. He loved Bob The Builder and there was a cement mixer in it so we used to go visit them in store.

Not much will be achieved here today as I am heading up to London to meet a friend for lunch. About to empty dishwasher and go a get ready. Going a bit early so I can mooch around the shops in Covent Garden first.

Have a great day all.
