I might faint 😳

A man called Aaron Duffy posted a disgusting video of him bullying a young person (looked male?) because of their pink hair and the clothes he wore. Lots of comments sticking up for the young person.

There must have been a few complaints as Facebook have just come back saying it's removed. How he isn't banned is beyond me?

I mainly use Facebook for groups I organise. No idea why this video showed up? But it's got like that now. Random shit.

Anyway glad for the young person that it's gone. Oh and this Aaron posts religious stuff. Apparently he's a Christian? That's what some comments said? I've blocked him from showing on my feed.

Great.

I reported death threats including to my husband and FB said the comments did not go against community standards.

He's a wee bit nuts.

Amazing! I’ve reported things that plainly breach rules - no action, ever.

Me too lots. And some people get banned for swearing. Madness.

Omg did you tell the police?

Yes. Initially the police said there was no case. Then they said they would investigate further.....and that was it! This was all via the online reporting system so I never actually got to speak to anyone. However, at a public event related to the threats, there was a police presence. I guess they decided to take them somewhat seriously.

I reported some awful, fat shaming comments on Mumsnet just last night and got an email back from MNHQ saying that fat shaming is not against the talk guidelines! Nearly dropped my phone

That's shocking. I hope dh isn't involved in politics?

I reported videos of the man being mauled by a tiger in the Yorkshire zoo and was told that these did not go against community standards. Got to wonder what those standards are.

jumpingjohnny · Yesterday 21:53

Wow! That's a first! But good news.

I reported a barrage of racist comments and memes on various Notting Hill Carnival posts, some so blatantly racist like monkey/gorilla memes, yet FB claimed they didn't go against their rules. Can't use FB or X now because of the amount of racism on there. I refuse to use TikTok. So only left with Insta and MN.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · Yesterday 21:57

For some reason on reels I keep getting these AI generated videos of young kids or young adults in gymnastics gear being held or doing a stretching exercise while an older man holds them and rubs his hand over the pubic area.

Apparently they can stand with no issue.

Meta has a crazy approach to community safety. They’ll let the most vile abuse and even incitement to suicide standing, but people still have to use stupid words like ‘seggs’ and ‘unalive’ or they’ll be down on them like a tonne of bricks. So you can tell someone to take their own life but for God’s sake no one say ‘fuck’.

That's illegal. Absolutely appalling.

FB gave me a warning and removed my post because I commented “I’m going to beat you” to my friend - I was going to beat her in a race!

And yet I’ve reported vile things and they don’t get taken down.

It makes absolutely no sense??

I think often the problem can be that objective medical descriptions such as morbidly obese can be described as fat shaming so the context and tone can be important here. But I find that weird as well.

You are right about the racism. I remember reporting a whole barrage of anti-islamic posts and nothing was done (although maybe they take some down on the sly?). Also, all that 'doctor or engineer' crap should be wiped out.

I do wonder if there is media bias. I see very little about Donald Dump for example.

Lugol · Today 07:00

I reported a video last week of a man calling the Cornell university gang rape victim a 'mega-slag' and a liar who was hell-bent on destroying the lives of the 7 animals who attacked her.

His 'proof' was a text she sent to one of them after trying to find out what was being said.

Guess what? It didn't go against community standards.

Community standards must be in the gutter if all the pedo groups and upskirting groups on Facebook aren't an issue either.

I don't personally do social media any more (other than MN) and we only have the page for business because otherwise I would never be on that insidious shit hole.
It thinks I'm a man so the feed it forces onto me is grim.
