Let me know your recommendations for good buys at Aldi please. I haven't shopped there for years but now have access to a fairly local store.

OP posts:
BobbleBear · 06/10/2026 14:54

I bought their soup maker last week and have used it several times already.

ManyATrueWord · 06/10/2026 14:55

Tomato purée.
Sparkling water
Fresh fruit and veg
Vintage cheddar
Ice cream bars
Crisps
Biscuits
Chocolate
-all the treat food clones.
Store cupboard things like sugar, flour
Baking essentials eg chocolate chips
Frozen burgers, beef and chicken
Sunscreen
Meds
Flavouring packets for meat
Condiments

Not so good IME
Processed meat - quite salty
Pizza - we usually have Pizza Express on special offer, the Aldi ones didn't have a taste profile we liked

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/10/2026 14:57

I get meat there. Not processed though as mentioned above so I can't comment on that.

The sliced rye sourdough is nice

RiverRed · 06/10/2026 14:59

Their Christmas stollen - usually in stock from November - is fab

Ooh yes. I've already bought my stollen mini bites.

placemats · 06/10/2026 15:03

Their Belgian Chocolate biscuits at Christmas.

Kitchen roll - ultra
Vitamin C cream

Don't care for their toilet rolls.

ManyATrueWord · 06/10/2026 19:28

Oh yes the kitchen roll is the biz. I am converted.
Now that Fairy Liquid is enshitified I need to try Aldi washing up liquid agaib

ReflectiveGilet · 06/10/2026 19:36

Greek yoghurt it’s better that Yeo Valley I promise.
thai madman curry paste
faux penguin bars the DDs are obsessed with them.
all the chocolate just all of it but if you like dark chocolate or trying to be healthy the moser Roth paper packets of small dark chocolate bars are amazing and come in sea salt etc. very chic packaging too for a grown up lunch box.

dd would say Aldi own brand crispy minis are shite tho. They are.

their version of nestle azeria is great though and the coffee syrup.

bagels no good though

DailyMaui · 06/10/2026 19:37

Their wine, especially the New Zealand and some French and Italian. The fancier gins.

Their beauty and perfume ranges can be amazing - lots of dupes. The perfume won't last as long as the originals, but the smells are very good. They do a dupe of a Bobbi Brown moisturising face base which is exceptional.

I buy tins of baby tomatoes whenever I'm in there.

Their cheese range at xmas, especially the camembert or brie with truffle. In fact so much of their christmas range is brilliant. Fabulous pigs in blankets too.

Their cast iron pot range is fantastic.

The candle ranges are really good - especially at christmas when they dupe the White Company etc.

So much really.

CraftyNavySeal · 06/10/2026 19:40

I just bought some of their Cerave dupes yesterday. Not tried them yet but worth a go

Their kinder bueno type things

Luluco · 06/10/2026 19:41

I always buy their crisps, candles, sunscreens, some of their treats. I tend to avoid their processed meats and their fruit and veg which doesn’t seem to last long.

intrepidpanda · 06/10/2026 19:57

Greek style yogurt and pizzas

JoyousWriter · 06/10/2026 19:57

At the moment, I'm obsessed with their creme brulee nougat bar.

It's all good. Cheapest vegetables will be on display at the front (the Super 6, changes fortnightly, I think).

Hotafternoon · 06/10/2026 20:04

Bottles of Kefir, I buy the plain one, it's larger and cheaper than other supermarkets.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 06/10/2026 20:06

Greek yoghurt
Tonic water
Their San Pelligrino drinks (dupes)
Hot cloth cleanser (Liz Earle dupe)
The sirloin steaks are pretty good
Stollen!!

LagoLady · 06/10/2026 20:19

Oooh I love an Aldi thread

I nominate their sweet potato fries and weetabix

YourWinter · 06/10/2026 20:20

Authentic Greek yogurt, NOT Greek-style, not the vanilla flavoured one

Shortbread fingers

Organic apple cider vinegar

Lacura Rejuvelate day cream is the only moisturiser my skin really likes, and I think I’ve tried just about every brand over very many years, also the serum (Q…?) but they’ve not had it for a while

Almat bio washing powder

Organic semi-skimmed milk

Cherry bakewells

Maple syrup (I got it in Morrisons for a couple of months as my booster points offers included the “Bedt” range of jams etc, but the Morrisons cap doesn’t have a small hole for pouring it so I washed and reused an Aldi cap until I need another bottle)

I AVOID the milled flaxseeds (linseed) and chia seeds now as the bags are no longer resealable, Home Bargains is better. Also get Graham’s butter in HB (sorry, it’s not a Home Bargsins thread)

LagoLady · 06/10/2026 20:21

I’m using their mascara at the moment. It’s a dupe of benefit bad gal or whatever it’s called. It’s absolutely amazing.

beakyboo10 · 06/10/2026 21:31

Just started shopping at Aldi and its all been great apart from Norpack (I need the proper Lurpack)
Used to buy fage yoghurt but Aldi's version is great, we really like the chocolate spread but the best bargain is Nutoka ice cream at £1.49 which is better than the Nutella ice cream.

The kids were also impressed with the tomato soup and preferred it to Heinz and zx cola (Pepsi max dupe) is good. I have been using the mens sensitive roll on anti- perspirant and I am very impressed with this.

sproutsandparsnips · 06/10/2026 22:05

Their quiche is the best around.

ManyATrueWord · 07/10/2026 18:03

Agree with biological liquid and maple syrup.

Also did not like: posh tea and coffee. The Assam tea was a bit rough compared to other supermarket brands. Ditto coffee.

GasPanic · 07/10/2026 18:08

Camenbert, honey and chill flavour crinkle crisps.

The paprika and Jalapeno chilli and cheese ones though are a poor substitute for the equivalent Walkers ones.

singthing · 07/10/2026 18:26

Why are people so surprised that Aldi or Lidl stock nice food you can eat?
Nobody posts asking "what can I buy at Tesco?", only ever Aldi and Lidl. They are just supermarkets, not exotic goods from far flung bazaars on the spice route.

hby9628 · 07/10/2026 18:31

Salt & Pepper dusted Basa fillets in the frozen section. Yummy.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 07/10/2026 18:38

Wine, make up, the prawn ravioli, some of the cheeses and continental meats, candles!
