How can I quickly move past a minor injustice??

Been scammed for £20 on Vinted. From Googling, it seems it won’t be worth chasing.

However, I am still quite angry!

How can I move past this quickly and effectively?

um, i really don’t know what to suggest other than… forget about it? Move on?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 29/09/2026 15:42

If you haven’t chased it I’d chase it personally

Pretendbafta · 29/09/2026 15:42

I found Vinted brilliant for refunding if sale not as expected

Error404FucksNotFound · 29/09/2026 15:43

Do you have their address?

hididdlyho · 29/09/2026 15:43

I would chase it as presumably you don't have anything to lose apart from a few minutes of your time. That way, you can tell yourself you've done everything possible to resolve it.

Nevermine · 29/09/2026 15:43

Think of the time and effort in monetary terms. If your time is worth more than £20 then its rational to forget about it.

Hearts4Chesney · 29/09/2026 15:45

I was the seller. The buyer claims that the box the item was in was damaged. Vinted has refunded them and let them keep the item!

This is aparently a common scam where the buyer slightly damages the box so that Vinted rules in their favour and they’re win win!

So annoyed!

Do you not have any photos/videos of it being packed? Or if it was damaged in transit can the postal company not do anything?

I didn't know Vinted refunded items in good conditions because of the box?

But it could have been damaged in transit?

Edited

They do not

the buyer would have had to send pics of the item damaged

if you can’t tell the truth post event op on your own thread…. then maybe stay off Vinted

bigbites · 29/09/2026 16:22

I have the opposite problem- seller sent an item that was no where near described. They agreed a return and then failed to collect it. I’ve repeatedly reported to Vinted but I keep getting messages that are out of sync and don’t answer the issues. Ended up doing a bank refund and then received a message threatening to close my account. I no longer care about that but as a matter of principle I can’t let it go. I don’t have the time but it’s really grated on me!!

Sunbringer · 29/09/2026 16:52

Is it unfair? Yes.
Is life fair? No.
Is it helping you to stay angry? No.

Try imagining that £20 is the difference between their kid being fed or not. And wish it to the kid instead of the scammer.

I agree! Vinted’s customer service in general is pants for both buyers and sellers.

Their model seems to just be to ignore both sides until something kicks up enough of a stink!

It wasn’t the packaging. It was the original box. It was a boxed toy.

I bubble wrapped it and everything!

Right so that’s actually important

If you give a gift, you don’t want it to look like it’s fallen off the back of a lorry

I agree. I offered to refund the item if the buyer returned it. Vinted has let the buyer keep the item and the money!

it wasn’t broken when I sent it! It’s been damaged in transit or the buyer has done this themselves knowing that Vinted will refund them.

I bought an item for a specific model phone and the one that turned up was for a different model. The seller said I could return it, at my own cost, but that then brought the item cost up to what I could have bought it for from Amazon so I declined. I did give a reduced rating and said why, though did also say if the item was the right one then it was sent quickly, well wrapped etc. I might try and sell it at some point
I will say if an item I sold was damaged in transit then I might look at how I was wrapping it. Delivery drivers aren't the most careful when handling things so I would pack with that in mind

powershowerforanhour · 29/09/2026 18:37

They'll have no luck with it.
Put a curse on them, that helps the feeling.

You are posting as though none of us have any experience of vinted

You refused to pay postage for the return hence it being referred to Vinted CS hence them refunding the buyer and allowing her to keep.

if you had agreed to pay return postage… you’d have got it back.

Ok, a trick for dealing with recurring emotions. Think about the scenario and try and feel where in your body you feel the emotion - stomach, chest, wherever. Breathe into it a few times. Can you identify the emotion? It might be shame, guilt,
embarrassment etc. That emotion is trying to help you by persisting and trying to stop you getting in a similar situation! So you can address that feeling, tell it thanks for sticking around and trying to protect you, but you’ve got it now, the feeling can leave. Maybe picture it flying up on a balloon or something. A couple of deep breathes. See if the feeling is still there or has lessened.
