How can I quickly move past a minor injustice??

Been scammed for £20 on Vinted. From Googling, it seems it won’t be worth chasing.

However, I am still quite angry!

How can I move past this quickly and effectively?

I also had a Vinted scam recently where the buyer sent me an obviously AI written message to claim
the top I’d sold was a fake of the brand. As I didn’t have any proof of purchase the buyer got to keep the top and got a refund!

I sell on Vinted all the time. Fingers crossed not had a problem yet, but I look at it as though I’m not selling anything I wouldn’t give to a charity shop for free, so even if I lose something, I’m at no loss.

Goingincirclesstill · 29/09/2026 19:44

Claim back off the delivery company for the cost of the item....you have the photos..

Be glad it wasn't worse....bought something for £80 and got sent a piece of paper....despite proof of what arrived never did get the money back through vinted!

@Pretendbafta that just isn’t true. There are lots of posts where sellers are ripped off by buyers. They use ai to create damage on pictures etc. Vinted doesn’t care and despite evidence will refund the buyer and not require the item sent back. Win win for dishonest buyers.

Thank you!

I do appreciate that Vinted is pants for buyers too. It is!

The problem here is non-existent customer service!

This happened to me with something I sold for £12. The buyer messaged before I sent it and said it was a gift so important it wasn’t damaged. I’d already packed it but after I got her message I wrapped it again in so many extra layers of bubble wrap and another box. She had obviously damaged the outer box herself on receipt and Vinted gave her a refund. I was fairly new and I felt so stupid and annoyed but ultimately it was only £12 and I learned a lesson. I would now see her original message as a red flag and avoid the sale.

FinishedAtFifty · 29/09/2026 23:06

@Hearts4Chesney customer service seems to be done by AI. Seem to be very difficult to deal with a person. I’m totally put off from selling on there. Too many scammers. I’m sorry it happened to you.

Yes! The buyer I had did the same! From Googling, it seems a common scam!

So yes

You are treating us like we have no experience of Vinted

😂 Why are you so offended by this?

Atriangleabout · 30/09/2026 15:16

If a buyer raises a dispute
then the first port of call is a return request is received by the seller
@Hearts4Chesney accepted that return request
then buyer clearly didn’t want to pay the postage cost so referred to Vinted
Vinted agreed having seen photos from the buyer they shouldn’t have to so refunded and said could keep

This is a crap situation OP. I’d feel really annoyed too.
But it’s wasting your energy wishing reality were different and only adds layers of tension and frustration.
In Buddhism, Acceptance means recognizing things as they are right now without denial, anger, or wishing reality were different.
Accepting a situation does not mean you like it, agree with it, or condone harmful behavior.
It stops the mental struggle against facts you cannot change, which reduces unnecessary suffering.
So it protects your peace of mind. By letting go, you become more evolved spiritually and psychologically.
It’s an illusion that the universe owes us fairness.
This is a common belief in spiritual circles. Mel Robbins has also written a book about it called Let Them (also available on Audible).

What about recognising the part you may have played in the situation?

The context here is that the OP didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe a lesson learned would be use & take pictures of extra secure packaging of fragile items sent via Vinted & save until the money has been received incase of a dispute

Vinted will only allow a buyer to keep an item AND be refunded if the seller has not agreed to pay postage for the return AND Vinted think that the buyer is reasonable in expecting this (photo evidence)

I did offer to pay postage for a return. Vinted didn’t care.

I’d be interested to see the exchanges you had with Vinted / the buyer - because this don’t sound in accordance with Vinted policy at all

Google this problem. There are thousands of instances of it happening. The only thing you can do is take Vinted to small claims court, which is obviously a PITA!

This is the reason i stopped selling on ebay. I sold an expensive jacket for a quarter of the price.buyer said didn't arrive.royal mail said not considered missing untill 2 weeks.meanwhile buyer complained to ebay and got a full refund, money taken from my bank! A week later I got a notification to say parcel delivered.buyer ignored me when I asked for payment.
