According to Google Covid cases have risen in the last week by about 5% and that's only reported cases. Only about 4 hospital cases though. It's the time of year as everyone gets back from holidays/goes to school etc. it's bound to rise.
I might go back to a mask (I have cancer) as I don't want it!

On the official government diseases monitoring data COVID is up 62% from last week to this week.

Likely to be COVID but people just experience much milder symptoms due to vaccines & natural exposure & immunity

We've had the opposite here, a waterfall of snot... Good old fashioned cold, not seen one for years.

But DD is a teacher - and living at home to save a deposit - it made me cry that we are back into post summer holiday snot-fest. Don't want this other thing too!

Astra53 · 28/09/2026 07:54

Yes. I felt so odd that I tested for Covid but it was negative. I am feeling better now but I felt very spacey, sort throat, awful taste in my mouth and kept breaking out into sweats. Very tired as well.

I'd been ill for over a week, started with sore throat / cough at night, feeling rubbish but not deathly enough to take to my bed...then 8 days in got a temperature, sinuses went insanely painful and snot galore, other side of throat sore but cough has gone. Dragging self to work this week because it's ridiculous but probably shouldn't

Grenrose · 28/09/2026 09:14

UKHSA dashboard can be helpful to see the trend from a week or two ago compared to two to three weeks ago, but the actual numbers provided are of very little help as so few people with symptoms are tested in hospitals. There is more likely to be a higher number just comprising NHS staff working with symptomatic covid than the number of “total cases” reported by UKHSA!

I've had something for over a week now. Started with feeling light headed and shakey, then progressed to awful muscle ache, nausea, chills and not being able to get warm and utter exhaustion. Also, my skin feels as if I've been sunburned.
I haven't had the sore throat or snottiness but my teenage daughters are coughing and very snotty, along with the aches and chills.
I've had enough now. None of us have left the house since last Thursday.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 28/09/2026 09:59

Sounds like Covid

Ihavetohope · 28/09/2026 10:00

I felt/feel very covidy. I had it when I was pg post pandemic and it was worse then, had my jab too. I am wrecked atm, it's taken ages to shake off

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 28/09/2026 10:02

Yup, exactly that plus an awful night of diarrhoea. NW here too except I’m on holiday being very miserable! Can’t eat anything, and no cocktails for me. Water and hot chocolate all I can tolerate!

Evolutionarygoals · 28/09/2026 10:04

I think we've had it too. Bit cough-y, bit dizzy, very tired. DH and I both tested negative but I don't think the tests work as well as they used to. The indicator for me is that I've lost the ability to smell random things - bye bye bananas and peanut butter ☹️

Ihavetohope · 28/09/2026 11:05

Yes I can't smell anything either,

MoonlightMemories · 28/09/2026 11:18

Yep, I had similar symptoms at the start of last week. Did a COVID and flu test which came back negative when I did it....pretty sure it was some other virus which then caused a sinus infection. I've now got bronchitis from it, too. This always happens when I get one of those bugs.

Yes I was suprised to test negative- it was exactly the same sensations- vague spacey feeling, felt ‘full’ , cough, weary , sore eyes and sore throat

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 28/09/2026 11:24

Yes! These symptoms exactly. I'm never sick so it's very annoying.

Same here, I kept thinking I was going down with something more, it's happened twice in about three weeks. Good sleep and lots of fluids, plus the First Defence spray seemed to see it off both times.

Same. Started with what I thought was a cold, took my First Defence, and within 2 days was fine again. It kicked in again a few days later and is worse this time. It isn't following the normal trajectory of a cold so I've no idea what it is.

HangryBrickShark · 28/09/2026 12:46

I had this on and off for about five weeks. I even tested for covid with an old left over test at work but it was negative.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/09/2026 12:48

I had it a couple of weeks ago but no cold

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/09/2026 12:50

I had one Lemsip from my colleague then it went away. Her and two others had a cold though. I did have a bit of sneezing as well

Rubydobydo · 28/09/2026 12:54

I felt fine when I I got up at 0730, fine again all morning but the last half hour yuk, with sneezing and runny nose. We’re meant to be in Cornwall this weekend so I hope it resolves quickly!!!!

Eggybreadwithnuts · 28/09/2026 23:23

Really heady tonight

Getalittle · 29/09/2026 00:56

There is hope. I’m on day 8 and had a much better day compared to previous day. Much less headache, barely any sleepiness. Still a bit week but so relieved exhaustion has gone

yes I am awake at 1am but that’s another story!

Twilight7777 · 29/09/2026 02:13

I had this about a month ago, it took a good fortnight before I was feeling better

Eggybreadwithnuts · 29/09/2026 19:21

Felt bit bunged up this morning, felt rough thought good cold finally coming out. But no nothing...clear nose now, just again tired, bit light headed

Wilsonthedog · 29/09/2026 20:22

When does the fatigue and weakness go?? I'm normally really active but feel like jelly just taking the dogs out atm.

Tiredofitallagain · 29/09/2026 20:28

I had this - scratchy throat dry eyes and so lethargic I couldn't get out of bed.
It's now an awful dry cough after a week of intense fatigue.
I was testing negative for COVID until I took a throat swab rather than a nasal swab. I think this strain pools in the throat because I got an instant positive.
I hate that people forget what it was like 6 years ago and just blatantly sneeze and cough everywhere!
Hated having to buy the covid tests and mask up for 2 days, brought back difficult times...
