What’s your comfort breakfast?

I’m feeling very woe is me. It’s my day off, but my hormones hate me, my PMDD is having a bad month, and I am curled up on the sofa with nausea, dizziness and cramps and basically full on body ache.

For lunch, I’m obviously going to have Heinz tomato soup with white toast and butter. But what comfort food can I have for breakfast? I don’t know what I fancy, and I don’t want to do too much as standing up makes my head spin. Could do with something slightly good for me so I can convince myself I’m doing everything and not just wallowing 😆

Well they’re not particularly good for you but if I have time to make them I really like crepe style pancakes with sugar.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/09/2026 09:09

If I'm on holiday my dream breakfast is a very big full English.
At home a comfort breakfast would be toast with jam and peanut butter.

Warm Porridge 😋

frozendaisy · 22/09/2026 09:19

Boiled eggs with soldiers

frozendaisy · 22/09/2026 09:19

Or cornflakes, warm milk and sugar

NewGoldFox · 22/09/2026 09:20

Seconding dippy eggs and soldiers.

goingtotown · 22/09/2026 09:21

Perfectly cooked poached eggs on thickly buttered wholemeal toast.

Chemenger · 22/09/2026 09:22

Thick pancakes made with bananas, but too much faff if you aren’t feeling well. Otherwise soft boiled eggs and toast with loads of butter.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/09/2026 09:22

Proper bakery croissant. No idea where you are but Gail’s and Paul Rhodes deliver here and I love the butteriness

Madamefroufrou · 22/09/2026 09:23

sherry trifle

however as this needs careful planning, one would have
to know the day before that one would need comforting

Justbecauseyoucandoesntmeanyoushould · 22/09/2026 09:24

Belgian waffles, pancakes or French toast with maple syrup.

cheezncrackers · 22/09/2026 09:24

The acid in the tomatoes won't do your nauseous stomach a lot of good OP. Chicken soup would be better.

AnnaQuayRules · 22/09/2026 09:24

Scrambled eggs on buttered granary toast.

bettyrubble99 · 22/09/2026 09:24

Poached eggs on really nice buttered toast. Sea salt, black pepper and if the mood takes me a few chilli flakes.

DoAWheelie · 22/09/2026 09:26

In the summer its bacon lardons fried off in a pan, then throw in 2-3 eggs that have been whisked together with lots of black pepper. Keep stirring as the eggs cook and you get little bite sized omelette pieces with bacon in them.

In the winter I love hot spiced potatoes on a cold morning, it's makes me feel all cozy. I cook them the night before and leave them in the fridge in the marinade so they soak it all up, and just whack them in the air fryer to heat through and crisp up a bit.

For me it's grilled tomatoes on toast, because it's what my Mum used to make us as a treat summer breakfast when we were kids. So it takes me back to lazy sunny weekend mornings, all possibility and no responsibility!

Tattletail · 22/09/2026 09:28

Branston beans and cheese on toast, looooots of butter on the toast 👍🏼

backformoreofthesame · 22/09/2026 09:29

Toast marmite and peanut butter and banana

LetMeGoogleThat · 22/09/2026 09:30

Maccies egg & cheese mcmuffin and a couple of hashbrowns! You can do the drive through in PJs, or sod it and Uber eats!

Meadowfinch · 22/09/2026 09:32

Summer - fresh fruit & Greek yogurt
Winter - porridge with hazel nuts & a drizzle of honey

PeachTrifle · 22/09/2026 09:32

Porridge with a slightly stewed plum and a dollop of greek yoghurt to make it feel indulgent

whippersnapper55 · 22/09/2026 09:34

Bacon sarnie! Always makes me feel better ☺️

Grilled tomatoes on toast would be one of my favourite breakfasts along with cooked breakfast, bacon, eggs, mushrooms that I sometimes have on a Sunday. 😋

JLMA · 22/09/2026 09:39

Cottage cheese (but cream cheese would do), cinnamon and apple on brown bread.

or a fried egg and Tattie scone in a roll.
