Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

Good morning from the 6am train to London Kings Cross! Today's move dd1 back into her uni accommodation in Wembley day 😥. We've managed to pack better this time & only have the five suitcases of various sizes, a few odds and ends scattered between handbags, and a tote for her setlist folder.

Plan when we get there is make her bed then head for breakfast 😋 and a small Tesco shop to get her going. She's back in the week to work Leger week, so won't need a lot for the time being.

We're on the 4pm train home. I've set some washing to be done by the time we get back so I'll hang that and set a load for tomorrow, dd2 will wash up & we'll finish last night's takeaway. Then it's pj's on & collapse in a heap ready for bed 💤.

My peaceful day birthday shopping got a bit banjaxed by my Mum ringing while I was browsing in JL to say her car wouldn't start!
Had to come home to sort that.
Now making meatballs and garlic bread as DS was exhausted and unable to make tea. He will be doing 3 nights during the week now instead.
The new Grand Tour on telly with wine after the meatballs.
Wrapping and cards done as well. Fizz and cake in the fridge, we are birthday ready.
Glas DD1 is settled in lucysmam.

Aaand, we are home. I reeeeeally dislike this part - it takes some getting used to her not being here 😥. Time to finish off the takeaway, then pj's & flake for an hour.

Someone asked earlier about tips for uni packing - we bought kitchen basics, & not loads of them. Dd has added a few things and upgraded one or two as she's gone along (second little casserole dish for the oven, second pan that she's actually left here this time kind of things) but overall, there's no need to spend loads & they can always buy anything they realise they're missing.

She went with 2 med cases and a small one last year for everything (apart from soft toys in a tote), bought bedding along with her first shop. She has added a lot of extra socks and pants though, and only does a wash every couple of weeks (merch comes home to wash...she is precious about it and is home quite frequently for gigs/to work when it'll be a lucrative shift).

If it's helpful, I can root out the list we wrote together tomorrow (but can't remember who asked to tag you! I'll look back & tag in the next post 😊.

@lucysmam thank you for asking. I think so... I will see whether the burger I have just had stays down! I had at least 2 hours sleep this afternoon, probably more, which seems to have helped.

Fingers crossed it was a one off then!

Thanks @lucysmam hope you're OK today. We've worked off the UCAS starter list, but there are plenty of shops, so anything needed can be sorted.

I cut back some foliage in the garden which was blocking part of my washing line whilst listening to a chapter of The Railway Children audiobook on my bluetooth headphones, I watched some old sitcoms on You Tube and then strolled to the Tesco which is conveniently situated at the end of my road for some sparkling water. I wanted some wholemeal muffins as well but they hadn't got any so I had to settle for bread rolls instead. Will make a chicken casserole for dinner and I am looking forward to watching London's Burning later on YT .

I have mainly spent the day figuring out how to make a crochet possum after being set the challenge by DD but also stepped out for a bit of shopping.

Im visiting my son in the IOW with my DD. The plan was to scatter our dogs’ ashes in the sea as they loved the beach here but I discovered they’d put one dogs ashes in a lovely sealed wooden box - I didn’t ask for them to do it (but bet I was charged a pretty penny), which we can’t open! So we went to the pub and had a nice lunch then back to the house for a game of Scrabble outside overlooking the sea. Now just figuring out how long to roast the pork for dinner, DD has fallen asleep in the sofa. Movie later.
