Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

Good morning from the 6am train to London Kings Cross! Today's move dd1 back into her uni accommodation in Wembley day 😥. We've managed to pack better this time & only have the five suitcases of various sizes, a few odds and ends scattered between handbags, and a tote for her setlist folder.

Plan when we get there is make her bed then head for breakfast 😋 and a small Tesco shop to get her going. She's back in the week to work Leger week, so won't need a lot for the time being.

We're on the 4pm train home. I've set some washing to be done by the time we get back so I'll hang that and set a load for tomorrow, dd2 will wash up & we'll finish last night's takeaway. Then it's pj's on & collapse in a heap ready for bed 💤.

What about you lot? 🙂

That sounds like an intense day op!
I’ve been up and about, doing some annoying housework jobs - my cleaner’s been on holiday for a few weeks and our house is suffering! I’ve had the long feather duster out and been cleaning down the kitchen cupboard fronts.
Dh and ds have just left to go to football, they won’t be back until about 2pm.
im about to shower and then take myself off for a walk once the washing has finished and ive hung it out. Another load will go on and be done by the time i get back. Meeting my mum and sister for lunch at a lovely looking place we’ve been wanting to try.

Good morning lucysmam and others. A long day ahead for you!
I'm lolling on the couch at the moment. I was up for hours in the night with gallbladder pain and went back to bed, hence a late appearance here.
Toda, after I finish lolling, I will sort out the washing and get it started before heading to Aldi. I wish I could leave it till tomorrow but I have little milk and bread, so needs must. Therefore today will be housework, washing and resting. Have a good day all

DiggoryVenn · 05/09/2026 10:00

Morning all. I woke pretty early and did a Caroline Girvan weights video. Then I took a door off and have painted one side - I have been procrastinating about this for months.
Off to a food fair in a minute and then back to do the other side of the door.
Feeling nostalgic for the uni days as this is the first year in 8 years that we aren't doing this.

JacknDiane · 05/09/2026 10:21

Im working today. Woke up at 7 but managed to get back to sleep till 8.30.
Why is it i can get back to sleep when im working but on my day off im wide awake at 6.30am!!!
This conundrum drives me completely mad.
Anyway...hope the move goes smoothly, enjoy your brekkie @lucysmam

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 05/09/2026 10:25

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Clock watching as I start work at 12. My head’s all over the place as I have really got out of my depth with all the Vinted parcels - the local post offices know me very well now! My car is full as well as a room at my DF’s & there’s quite a bit here. If I focus I don’t need to panic but my potentially ADHD brain is saying otherwise! Potentially I could make a fair bit of money as many sellers have no idea of the true value of their items. Think I’ll have to set at least a couple of days aside for opening parcels, cataloguing stuff, photographing & uploading on E Bay etc. Meanwhile, not much planned apart from my shift. No idea what’s for tea - might buy something to go with chips. Please send calming vibes my way folks!

Parky04 · 05/09/2026 10:32

Off to watch the footy. Come on you Royals!

gingercat02 · 05/09/2026 10:34

Morning all, you are all up and about early this morning.
We have 2 weeks until the halls trip with DS feeling your pain @lucysmam
Just having breakfast, shopping delivery has been put away. DH and DS have an early kick off today and I have shopping to do for DH birthday tomorrow.
We will all be back for F1 qualifying
As usual no plans for tea, although I am working on DS recipe repertoire so perhaps something he likes at a student budget.
Wrapping, telly and wine at some point later.

Meadowfinch · 05/09/2026 10:43

I've run ParkRun, first time back this year. I am horribly unfit.

Next is a huge stack of washing, drop DS at work, then go and buy him a saucepan ready for his move into halls next weekend. I think (hope) we have everything else.

I might have a quick look around the shops while I'm in town, I want a couple of long sleeved tops for the autumn.

Then gardening and general ambling. This is a lazy weekend because next week will be full on.

LarryForPrimeMinister · 05/09/2026 10:53

Good morning. Dc are exhausted from school so having a chilled weekend, both have sen and always tires them out the first week back! Need to do some food shopping, no idea what to have for dinner and then wait in this afternoon for a parcel. Think I'll be in bed early got woken up at 6.30am by my neighbours angle grinding in their garden. Sad

Thislittlekitten · 05/09/2026 11:04

Morning All

Had DDog out for a walk this morning and then had bacon and tattie scone rolls. Food of the gods.

DS is at a sleepover, DD in bed as per, not saw the dcats but DH told me he has fed them. Plan on chilling out a little then getting ready to meet a friend in town.

I also plan on a quiet night. This week work and course work have been intense. I have stuff to do but that will wait until tomorrow. Not sure I’ll need tea as eating out with friend. Maybe toast of cereal.

Enjoy Saturday everyone.

FridayNighFeeling · 05/09/2026 11:05

Morning @lucysmam - I love these threads. Hope your long day goes well.

Boring day here, been to the gym, met a friend for a quick coffee and done some chores.

We have a uni 1st year drop off soon. Any experience in what is useful or not from anyone would be appreciated.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 05/09/2026 11:27

Morning everyone. DH has DS12 at rugby so I got DS3 and myself ready and did a bit of cleaning and cooked some sausages. We’ve had ours and they will finish the rest off when they get in. DS8 is home from a sleepover and in his room chilling. The little 2 have convinced me to go to our caravan today for the evening. DH and the big one are planning fishing. Chippy and wine tonight!

Rainbow1235 · 05/09/2026 11:28

Good morning all just getting ready to go and do some shopping as got them all here for dinner tomorrow. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

SnowFrogJelly · 05/09/2026 11:29

Baby shower for my first DGS! Excited 😁

Topsy44 · 05/09/2026 12:24

I hope all goes well for all who are doing the drop offs at Uni today.

Having a lazy day here. I went to a funeral yesterday and worked out that I did 6 hours of driving so not going anywhere today!! Was a particularly sad funeral, lovely lady who was only in her late fifties.

DD14 seems quite content to have a decompress day after her first day back to school yesterday.

Will bung a wash on shortly, make lunch and then might pop in the garden for an hour to read my book as it’s a lovely day here in the SE.

Takeaway pizza for tea and try and find a film for DD14 and I to watch.

BCBird · 05/09/2026 12:29

Morning, not done much. Am job hunting. Dealing with a sciatica flare up- week 6. Have decided to get some cleaners in for a one off clean- i can't do it. Debating whether to read or watch some crappy TV

DilemmaDelilah · 05/09/2026 12:59

Well... after a good and productive morning, followed by a game of scrabble in which I beat Mr Dilemma 386/246, I felt unwell, suggested to Mr Dilemma he had lunch on his own, came upstairs for a nap and was promptly and copiously sick 🤮. In the loo, thank goodness! I am now lying in bed with a well wrapped hot water bottle on my tummy and a 'just in case' bowl on the bed beside me. I will listen to my audiobook (a Jodi Taylor - excellent!) and go to sleep. Mr Dilemma was trying to get me to decide whether I wanted a burger or corned beef salad tonight, both of which I like a lot (usually) and neither of which I can face thinking about at the moment.

No reason for being ill - at least it helps with the diet!

mamaduckbone · 05/09/2026 13:11

Good afternoon @lucysmamand all. I hope the move goes well.
We’ve done a morning of hard graft - the kitchen and dining room floors were sanded this week so we’ve had to do some bits of painting and a whole lot of cleaning before everything can be moved back in.
We’re at a standstill now until paint dries so I think we’re going to go for a walk, get a few bits in town and maybe a drink - feels like we deserve it!
ds2 had a driving lesson this morning but has taken himself back to bed - he has a dose of festival flu after burning the candle at both ends at Leeds last weekend - and he has work tonight.
Singapore noodles for dinner, then Dh and I will carry on watching Furious on Disney+.
Happy Saturday everyone!

SereneReader · 05/09/2026 13:59

Sitting on the sofa listening to Classic FM relaxing after my colonoscopy this morning. Got the all clear, I'm so relieved.

DD14 is going to an afternoon gathering for her friend's 15th birthday.

DS13 is in his bedroom playing Fifa trying to forget that school starts on Tuesday.

DH is gingerly emptying the dishwasher. He had surgery last week. We have cost the NHS who knows what recently.

DDog is having a wander round the house.

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 05/09/2026 14:11

We've had a busy day today hoping by burning plenty of energy off our four year old we will get a decent night's sleep tonight.
We've been ballet class to the fire station open day and now we're at swimming in not in though.

lucysmam · 05/09/2026 14:21

We're done! 4 cases unpacked & away, breakfasted, Tesco done & away. Photos taken. Maintenance requested for several things well below-par. Dd just needs to decorate, sort her shelves and desk. She has friends visiting tonight so says she'll potter while they're here, while they share a bottle of wine.

We were in Pisa this morning. Had a couple of hours there and taken the train to Siena where we’ll stay until Monday. It’s our silver wedding anniversary then, and we’re carrying onto Florence for a few days before Cinque Terre and Lucca.
It’s gloriously sunny and hot, just sat by the pool and then will explore the city tonight.
DH has just retired, I’m going in December and we’re looking forward to a lot more travel like this . Feeling very lucky.

Veraandacupoftea · 05/09/2026 15:22

My update - all 6 booktok videos uploaded for the day and two sales made so far 🥳

one wash load out and a whites wash load from dd room done (im stressing about getting her grubby things all washed and ready 😳)

an hour on the allotment and the bathroom cleaned .

this afternoon i want to wipe down upstairs skirting boards, wash up and tidy lounge. Let’s see what happens 🤣

Boreded · 05/09/2026 15:23

Chilling on a sunbed in blizzard beach

Happy early evening I suppose now!

I've had a busy day getting ready for a holiday to Austria with my mum early on Monday morning. Mum is coming to mine midafternoon tomorrow, and we'll travel down to Heathrow together on Monday. And you know how it is when Mum's come to stay... Everything has to be spick and span! So both bathrooms deep cleaned, kitchen as well, and all the floors cleaned. You know the drill.

Then doing my packing on top of that... The weather doesn't look THAT amazing where we're going, so it's packing for all eventualities in terms of cooler temps and rain.
The only thing left to pack now is toiletries. I'll organise the non-essentials tonight, and put the others in as they get used before we depart.
I love a holiday, but really don't enjoy the necessary prep involved!
