My body is behaving today so I am having a small chips and sweet chilli sauce from McDonald's in the car whilst it's raining with my DD.
What are yours?

Yesterday I had my first glass of red for four months, I don't drink red before September. I am enjoying the cool, the grey and the rain. I'm about to pick up a few things to decorate the house for Autumn 🍁, and I'm going to make a tomato, bean and chorizo stew this weekend, followed by am apple crumble. Also moving into the burnt orange colour scheme for my clothes. I love Autumn so so much.

Lying on my bed reading and eating chocolate raisins-the house is silent and trees rustling outside-this is today’s little pleasure.

I miss smoking i know it is horrible unhealthy etc etc, but a holiday cigarette sounds amazing

I didn’t do it for a while because I knew a holiday cig would become a cig at the pub and then it would spiral but tbh now I know I can have a couple on holiday and give the rest of the pack away on the last night. I’m weirdly proud of myself for having that much self control now ahaha.

I met a woman on holiday who would come down for a pre dinner drink and have a secret smoke while her husband was in the shower! She did spray perfume but he must have noticed the smell.

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 02/09/2026 16:25

I kind of love the holiday smokes! I don't do it personally but the letting go and having something you want for once is such a freeing feeling and yes it's bad but aren't most things.

Diamond art or cross stitch or crochet for an hour with my headphones on listening to an audiobook. I love it, pure peaceful mindless creating. Especially with a dog curled up next to me and a steaming cup of coffee to start off with.

Sunbringer · 02/09/2026 17:15

I made a proper lattice cherry pie the other day and served it with vanilla ice cream. Pure indulgence.

Disturbia81 · 02/09/2026 17:17

Being home alone, playing my video game on the couch with snacks and hearing rain on the window and the fire on.

Resting the side of my head on a cat and listening to it purring.

Aw i love resting my head on my cats.

So many of these are sensory pleasures. My little pleasure is any moment / day when nobody talks to me (but max for a day else I start going crazy). I feel like my brain can breathe and go at its own pace, without interruption.

BeaAndBen · 02/09/2026 17:24

Really nice bedding.

This is a good one. When the house is empty and I put my phone down, I love not talking for a while.

Spending time with my elderly parents. They are amazing. Also drinking tea and eating shortbread. 😋

I love this - that you have such lovely parents that you can relish their company. (like many others, am not in that position myself but I love hearing about and seeing the families that do take joy in each other!)

That's lovely that you have such a kind and ungrudging attitude. Too many people get eaten up with bitterness when others have what they don't. so well done you for not being like that.

That is also a sensory pleasure. The absence of noise/irritation is one of the greatest joys there is.

I picked up a new video game were you potter around a little community garden, growing plants and taking cuttings to craft bouquets for the villagers.

There is something deeply relaxing about tending to my virtual flowers with a cat in my lap while the rain beats down on my windows.

Sitting down in a lovely clean and tidy house with a cup of Earl Grey and a book, bonus pleasure points if my cat joins me.

This would be mine too but add a slice of homemade cake to the equation!

I'm going to see my son in Worcester where there happens to be an old fashioned sweetie shop where I fully intend to buy some coconut mushrooms and maybe some cherry lips

Please can you get me some cream soda sherbet while you are there . 😋.

HeboreoMaltian · 03/09/2026 15:42

Washing my hair. I love how it feels all clean and smooth when its washed, conditioned and oiled. I'm going to ask for fancy shampoo and conditioner for Christmas.

Bimbling with the dog. She's getting old and loves a good sniff so we move at approximately half a mile an hour. It gives me a good chance to just be outside, meet some lovely dogs, and overhear some absolute belters in our local play area.

Breakfast. This is a weird one but I love everything about breakfast. I love preparing it the night before after tea when the kitchen's all clean and tidy and the soft lights are on. In the morning, I love sitting with DH talking shite over breakfast before we start the day.

Failure at the gym. I've started going to what we middle-ish-aged call the "Adonis Classes" at the gym where its mostly ridiculously hench men lifting very heavy things. I joined a few weeks and the focus on progressive overload and lifting until failure is an absolute game-changer. I love the feeling of being physically unable to do even one more rep with a stupidly light weight after drop-setting.

Swimming at the lido on my lunch break.

@ReleaseTheDucksOfWar
I am extremely lucky to have the parents I have.
They are smart, able, kind, generous and still working in their 80s.
We have had our disagreements occasionally over the years, but i absolutely relish having them in my life.

Currently eating a chicken, stuffing & cranberry sauce sandwich leftover from last nights roast! Heaven!!

My Absolute favourite 😋

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 03/09/2026 16:38

A wet Sunday afternoon on the sofa, when I've delivered to deadline and my time is my own, with the dog snuggled next to me, a box of Maltesers on the side table. a big mug of hot, strong tea and something with David Mitchell in on the TV.

Any one of these elements can be changed for an equivalent or superior except the dog, she's a non-negotiable.

caringcarer · 03/09/2026 16:41

I love lying on the beach and swimming in the sea.
