Name and praise companies and businesses with excellent customer service

Following on from the thread about appalling experiences with companies that people would never use again for various reasons, I'd like to put a positive spin on it and 'name and praise' companies that DO care very much about their customers, deliver top quality service and take ownership of problems when they do arise and actually fix them; and thus deserve to be 'exposed' in a very positive way to others who may or may not wish to give them a try.

If you've been really impressed by a company that you feel values your custom - whether a big company, a small one or even just a local business to you that you believe deserves credit, feel free to share it here.

Needless to say, this is intended for wholly unconnected third-party customers - not for the businesses themselves or their associates/connected parties to advertise and blow their own trumpets!!

Cass art in Liverpool are fab, really knowledgeable and don't try to upsell supplies you don't need. They run some great classes too.

Have also had good experience with octopus energy when there was trouble with my smart meter after switching to them

Is it clean with Bea? She's fab and I've tried some of the cleaning things she swears by and they've definitely lived up to her hype

Another vote for Cass Art in Liverpool they also leave you alone to look around !!

Dukeshill. Food company who have lovely things and supply their hams to Fortnum and Mason.

Unlike F&M, who are as easy to contact as the Kremlin, they have a call centre that is easy to reach and always eminently helpful if you need to amend a delivery, in any way.

Sureflap - the people that make the cat flaps. The best customer service I've had in decades and I don't even think they have (or had) a menu on their phone. A really lovely woman just picked it up, old school. Haven't phoned them for about 5 years mind, so things might have changed.

Makes such a difference when you can speak to a human.

Ocado. I rarely have any substitutions and when I do, they are good. And their delivery drivers are always so pleasant and friendly.

My husband's friend works there. It's a great place!

Mia Tui. I made an error with my order and they were both efficient and utterly lovely on the phone.

Lands End - you can always (eventually) speak to a human being and they are always lovely.

Might be a surprise to some but I've banked with Lloyds for decades and whenever I've had an issue I've found them fantastic.

M&S. There was a delay in issuing my refund, I reached out to them and got the refund plus an extra £15 😁

I hate to say it but Amazon are almost always amazing. Given how often I've ordered with them, I've very rarely had any issues at all with stuff being delivered to the wrong place or anything and when there has been anything the customer service has always resolved it very quickly. Free returns is really helpful, and if it's something small they've often said just to keep it. Same with being able to track the exact time something is being delivered, plus the price tracker function so you can check if you're actually getting a bargain. Also recyclable packaging and the option to defer delivery a day or two for the most energy efficient deliveries. I don't kid myself that's better for the environment than not buying stuff in the first place but it's better than a lot of companies do.

Nationwide has already been mentioned but I have/had bank accounts with pretty much all the major banks (I have a 'burner' account I swap to get all the incentives), and I have to admit they've all been pretty good - you can do so much on apps nowadays, and when I've had an issue and complained it's been resolved very quickly. I don't know it's the same for all their customers but I have some sort of priority account with barclays which guarantees they answer the phone within a minute, it's always uk staff who are very helpful.

OTOH I'm trying to move house atm and getting sense and an honest response out of any estate agent is like winning the lottery!

@ladygindiva I recommend them too (Mira Showers) they also fit them for a very reasonable price. We were quoted a lot to replace almost like for like before a friend in the plumbing industry said they do the fitting as well. Very knowledgeable and professional.

Shark. They’ve replaced two parts of my Hoover (which I’ve had for about six years) with no fuss, for free, despite it no longer being under warranty.

Yes, is she English? I follow an American one too. I think they do amazing work and think a lot of the companies who support them.

She is, didn't she start with her own flat full of mould that her awful landlord wasn't sorting?

SubZero - very expensive refrigerator. Mine went wrong several years outside of the warranty period. Hugely supportive on the phone, sent videos of things to try that might have fixed it. When I ultimately needed to call out a service engineer, on his confirmation that it was not my fault they paid for the repair.

I’ve rarely had a problem with M&S, Waitrose or Ocado when I’ve needed to return or complain ( which isn’t often) and whilst Amazon is faceless it’s pretty efficient and no quibble - if I can also mention simply cook, I love their kits - they arrive when they should , you can pause as much as you want- when you go away etc and I love the fact I don’t end up with a fridge full of fresh stuff I feel obliged to make - just check what I have in of their packs and get the base ingredients whilst out -

A vote from me for Victorian Ceramics Ltd - they’re family-owned and did a custom order for us 4 years ago for hearth tiles. Great quality, reasonably-priced, the owner was really helpful and communicative and it was a really quick turnaround. I was feeling guilty earlier that I never did the Google review I’d intended!

Warhammer/Games Workshop. We visited Warhammer World recently and without exception every single member of staff we spoke to there was kind, welcoming and patient. They all clearly cared about their work and were so generous with sharing their knowledge. My DS has recently got into tabletop gaming and honestly the experience we had there has just really cemented that interest. We’ve found the same with the smaller stores as well - the staff can’t do enough to help and provide encouragement and advice. Wonderful and so refreshing compared to the total disinterest you get from most retail outlets!

I agree with Sainsburys and Nationwide. Always helpful, kind, and accessible.

John Lewis have been good for us especially with white goods.

Can't agree with Octopus though. The horrors they put us through are too numerous to list. I had to go through the ombudsman who found in our favour thankfully. But the stress was off the scale and their manner and tone in all communications with me was engaging. I feel triggered and trolled by all their smug adverts now!
