I’ve been invited to a “1976” themed party. I really don’t want to do the whole ABBA bit, that everyone is getting exited about, but “Rocky” was released in 1976…. So could I go as Rocky Balboa?i

I would go as Vivienne Westwood. She looked really cool in 1976.

1976 was also the year of A Star is Born (white shirt and trousers, curly hair), The Man Who Fell to Earth (white shirt and trousers, odd coloured contact lenses), Taxi Driver (black jeans, plaid shirt, jacket; or shorts, crop top and cowgirl hat), or - if you want to go all out with the costume -Carrie.

I think Rocky is a brilliant idea, but I used to live in an area where the movie is iconic.

The problem with vintage stuff is that I am considerably chunkier than the average 1970s woman. I’m also not that confident about clothes and the idea of mad patterns and flares horrifies me. I’m also a size 9 foot, so I usually wear trainers as women’s shoes tend not to go bigger than an 8. Barbara in wellies & dungarees I could do…

76 was the great summer drought, so that could inspire?

Brotherhood of man were no.1 when i was born, so the 1976 charts might inspire too.
