I love hearing everyone ancestry. Mine is rather boring and is Irish on one side and English quite far back on the other.

I have my family tree back to 1190. I think we might have come over as Normans. Sorry!
English through and through now, though.

One of my Irish gggrandmothers was bound over to keep the peace because she had got violent in a land dispute with her estranged husband. They were fighting over an area of peat bog.

One of DH's English ancestors was a leading Primitive Methodist who had 18 children.

That all sounds really amusing. Obviously not to your ancestors but in the modern day it is.

My Irish grandad came over to England to avoid being called up to the army. He dropped his Irish accent and I remember seeing him as a child not realising he was Irish. I imagine my English side must of come from Scandinavia at some point which would explain the ginger gene I possess.

In today's news, I have made soup.

It does feel like soup weather today.

I've been out for a short walk to post a friend's birthday card and done online yoga - lots of hip stuff today which was unpleasant but needed.

Don't know what else to do today. I've been listening to the "What did the Normans ever do for us" programmes on BBC Sounds - very interesting especially the food one.

Hurrah for the Normans, @martha79 . Although i do not identify as French.

Soup means easy and healthy lunch for the next 4 days. Also clears the ageing veg out of the fridge so I can clean it. Mr Tesco is coming tomorrow!

Hello all. Sorry I've been MIA. The back to work gloom descended. I'll check in over the weekend.

I think menopause is kicking me. Feel flat and not sleeping well at all.

Got a stream of people viewing the empty flats here this afternoon so finding it a bit hard to relax with the sound of them all going in and out, but popped out earlier and had a nice chat with the woman showing them round (who works for the landlords). Fingers crossed for someone nice and quiet!

@MewithME hope you have a lovely chilled out weekend which makes the gloom disappear.

Had a nice Friday after waking up with a headache and a pretty low mood. DH said lets go out for lunch, so I got a nice lasagna and salad, and then bought a rose bush that was reduced because its label had fallen off. So I don't know what its called, but its a lovely deep velvety purple\pink and smells divine.

I'm fairly sure its not a climber, so its going to go in a large dark blue planter I've got spare, and I'm going to put some bulbs underneath it for early spring before it blooms. Thats my Saturday sorted out, as long as it stays dry long enough.

I went into a complete crash after returning from holiday with my parents. Fab time, but completely overdid things. Spent 4 days in bed to prepare for going back to work last Tuesday 😬

Three days at work was then exhausting. But yesterday I rested again and went for my deep tissue sports massage. She has worked a miracle! Put my legs and hips back together and overall reduced my tension. Mobility much better and headache has gone this morning 🥳

I'm not tempting fate though and will have a complete rest day today 😴

@MewithME you'll be disappointed to hear that my weekly work pattern has now changed to Weds - Friday, so no more Weds weekend klaxon I'm afraid. I have again been temporarily promoted but am job sharing with a lovely colleague so am happy it is manageable 😊

And finally I declare the magic kettle boiling ☕☕☕💕

...so I was planning a trundle to the garden centre and a spot of lunch with DS.... But it seems I have to bury a dead wood pigeon first. Next door came round this week and apologised for their sonic weapon....but then asked to switch it on and checked I couldn't hear it. Found a poorly pigeon huddled next to the back door yesterday. Opened the blind this morning and it died! 😭

Was awake early to a beautiful sunrise mixed with dark rainy storm clouds. Back to sleep for a bit, housework done, now considering a walk to the charity shops and a new cafe that's just opened this morning.

Doing an online 'mini retreat' this afternoon and tomorrow about self-compassion, should be interesting.

Had a message from my GP surgery yesterday inviting me to a 'local weight loss programme' - which I do definitely need but I suspect would be very generic and not take LC into account.

Have booked my flu vaccine for a few weeks time - had to pay for it and I'm seriously considering paying for the COVID one too, whilst being a bit annoyed that we don't get it free.

Sympathies on the hip problem, my left hip joint is giving me problems with shooting sciatica pain. My lower back is locked up so I can't wait for the osteopath in a couple of weeks.

I've been in a long crash for ages it is so frustrating and depressing, just can't seem to get myself into an accepting frame of mind. Hey ho.

I read an article about new CfsME research and my conclusion was yes my body is messed up, tell me something I don't know....but at least it is confirming it's not imaginary! No cure though. Maybe one day.

I have been trying not to do much this week, hence my muscles are seizing up (you can't win!) I just changed the bathroom towels and found four live moths and several expired ones on a cotton hand towel in the airing cupboard. Expletives deleted, ladies 😯

So yes please to a nice peppermint tea !

I'm just back from burying the poor bird and I'm now shaking and in tears. There was a cat in the garden and I stood in it's bloody poo. Then the only bit of border where I can dig was absolutely riddled with roots and stones. I really struggled to do it. I got the shakes and HR was 160. 😭

I am totally pissed off that I've had to spent my energy on this. I bloody hate it. Something totally random and stupid and that's ruined my day.
