i just wondered if the enthusiasm has died in in most people
or are people still having bbqs in their back gardens

I’m over it to be honest. Just thought about laying on the sofa and needing a blanket and how nice that’ll be.
But we’ll have a BBQ this week for sure!

Pedant61 · 26/07/2026 17:39

Yes, still loving the weather.
Never cooked or hosted a BBQ in my 60 years of life - what is the point of them? So many nicer food options.

BauhausOfEliott · 26/07/2026 17:46

It’s 17c and raining where I am.

garlictwist · 26/07/2026 17:47

Insanely windy and grey where I am in Yorkshire. Had a hot water bottle in bed last night. I'd love some more heat.

Abracadabra12345 · 26/07/2026 17:50

@RaraRachael Be careful what you wish for. A bone dry spring and summer with rolling heatwaves is nothing to be desired, trust me

Ineffable23 · 26/07/2026 17:52

I can't usually be bothered with actually barbecuing, but I like to eat outside as often as I can.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 26/07/2026 17:55

I don't like BBQs, or hot weather, so no! To be honest, I'm in the south east and it's so dry nobody should be setting light to anything outside at the moment.

AgnesMcDoo · 26/07/2026 17:58

Yes we’ve had lovely weather in Scotland.

No heatwave but nice.

Varying between 18c and 22c

Its grey and cloudy now with rain forecast for at least the next 10 days. 😢

This is a really good point.

gas barbecue doesn’t count as a proper one imo. If no slightly charred sausage I’m not interested!

I'm not wishing for a heatwave or temperatures in the 30s. By any standard one day of 26 in the whole summer and the past 8 weeks averaging 18 is a shit summer.
This is one of the worst summers I can remember. Normally when it's in the 30s in England we get a week of around 25.
I'm not bothered about BBQs as I don't have a garden.

LumpkinPumpkin · 26/07/2026 18:05

Spent all day just hanging out in the garden yesterday. And had a splash about in the pool when we got back from a few hours out today. We’ll probably go for an evening stroll. We’ve very much still enjoying the weather!

I would do if it wasn't raining

Same here. I'm in North Wales.

VillageFete · 26/07/2026 18:37

Well, in the North it’s blowing a gale, raining and very cool. Has been for days.

Is the South still experiencing high heat?

Cherrytreesinthegarden · 26/07/2026 18:42

We haven't had a barbecue in the back garden since the 1990s! I realised that, as I was only a couple of of yards away from the kitchen, it was significantly easier (and the food never gets burnt, which is a big plus) just to use the oven, grill and hob in the kitchen. Eating outside is still an option, of course, though I tend to prefer eating indoors with the patio doors open, rather than carting all the stuff outside.

Please be safe with BBQs ! The ground is like tinder. A lady used a disposable one and a whole row of houses went up

Jacobolordy · 26/07/2026 19:11

I had had enough of the heat, but after 2 days of drizzle and low temps I'm now wishing it was hot again.

The climate is so unpredictable I don't think there's perfect weather anywhere. Its either drought and heatwaves/ wildfires/ plants and fauna dying, or grey, overcast, flooding and SAD.

CoastalCalm · 26/07/2026 19:17

We’ve just lit a coal fire in our holiday cottage in N Yorkshire , no BBQ’s planned

pinkandwhiteroses · 26/07/2026 19:18

It's been drizzly and grey all weekend here in Cumbria. No BBQ's here Grin

OwlCalledSage · 26/07/2026 19:20

We are loving it. For every do we have had this year in the garden we have had great weather. We’ve had dozens of barbecues and dinners outside. It’s been fabulous and I hope it lasts.

mondaytosunday · 26/07/2026 19:21

Once it gets above 24/5 that’s me done! Can’t believe it’s going above 30 again this week.

Advocodo · 26/07/2026 19:59

Went to fabulous bbq last night.

VillageFete · 26/07/2026 20:00

Cherrytreesinthegarden · 26/07/2026 18:45

Yes, we are!

I am truly shocked at this. There’s a massive divide in the weather. We’re such a small Country - how can it be so different?!

Cherrysoup · 26/07/2026 20:26

Ibi · 26/07/2026 09:20

Not here! I love the warm weather and I love bbqs. We always bbq when we can, often in the winter too.

BBQs galore here, my OH is a fiend, very keen on various marinades/prepping meat hours in advance. He has a big green egg barbecue, he’s very serious about it.
