Not ripe in Scotland yet but definitely on their way and looks as though there will be a good crop this year.

Saisong · 25/07/2026 09:26

Tonnes have ripened here in the last week or so - bumper crop. Hampshire.

The dropping of leaves during summer is a drought response and yes it's sad 😢.

Loads of blackberries here, especially along the canal.

ElegantlyDressing · 25/07/2026 09:30

Load in Hampshire but only in the last week here

PermanentTemporary · 25/07/2026 09:32

Yes, from about a week ago. It is insanely early. I grew up thinking of them as a September thing, in recent years had 1 August as my starting date, now mid July.

Spotted an amazing loaded bush, went back the day after and it was already fairly stripped with lots of trampled grass around so I think everyone is on it.

If it ever does rain they will be incredible that day and over the day after. Crossing my fingers for a shower tomorrow

OriginalSkang · 25/07/2026 09:33

It hasn't rained here in about a month, so I can't imagine they would taste very good

lljkk · 25/07/2026 09:35

Too many in my garden in Norfolk.

Imicola · 25/07/2026 09:36

Not ripe yet here in west of Scotland. Lots of them about though, I think they'll be ready soon.

reluctantbrit · 25/07/2026 09:43

Last weekend, 1.5kg are in the freezer now.

We have huge bushes in the alley way behind our house, sheltered and in a really sunny spot. Still plenty are red or green so I think we will do another hunt next weekend.

We make blackberry jelly in September.

DontrockthecaravanGeoffrey · 25/07/2026 09:45

Lots here in Somerset. We had blackberry and apple with walnut and oat yoghurt for pudding yesterday evening.

SowWhatNow · 25/07/2026 09:45

Yes loads! My new allotment plot is covered in brambles. And all the walk there too. My 5yo was in charge of blackberry collection while I weeded. South East.
