Why is Nigel Farage….

….dressing like Alan Partridge for the by-election? Just like Alan Partridge, ready for a trip down the Norfolk Broads.
Or does he dress like that all the time? Surely not?

I paused briefly over one video and since then my algorithm seems to be set firmly to Farage, and his fashion choices are just fascinating. I know I could change the algorithm back fairly easily but I now can’t look away.

Here is this morning’s ensemble. The double breasted blazer with brass buttons seems to be a staple, but the garish trousers in a kind of ham pink, and the purple tie seem to be taking the whole thing in a bolder direction than usual.

I hadn’t noticed this before. He is 100% partridge 🤣🤣

Don't be absurd - their style isn't remotely similar........

That’s brilliant 🤣

although I have to admit I finished you OP first he title with just “a cunt” 👀

He’s a man for the people who feel disenfranchised to listen to. He does fuck all for them though. Which I actually find sad despite the fact o dispose him and wish he would just fuck off.

The false hope though is just awful.

80’s used car sales man in photo. Normally he’s dressed as if he’s going to a shooting party in a minor stately home. Silly chap. If I lived in Clacton I’d rather vote for Trewley Precious. In fact I’d like to see whole family in number 10.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · Yesterday 11:01

You’ve got to remember the vote he’s going for is the golf club bore, or the sort of person who thinks the golf club bore is posh.

The winter theme is often tweeds and a barber wax jacket plus flat cap, although that’s usually when he’s trying to win the vote in more rural areas than Clacton, so perhaps this look is more appropriate for his electorate.

I do think it’s very Partridge-esque that he hoped to take a grand stand against the establishment and instead his only competitor is a man with a bin on his head, so he’s got to engage with the bin man, and potentially lose to a man with a bin on his head. (Obviously he wants to lose so he can make the investigation into his £5m go away and go back to being an after dinner speaker, complaining about an establishment stitch up, losing to a man with a bin on his head will fuck that plan up.)

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · Yesterday 11:05

It’s basically this vibe. https://www.google.com/gasearch?

edit because the link didn’t work

Rainyswissmountains · Yesterday 11:08

Op I really appreciate smart classic dessers I am fond of king Charles style and lament when we will be exposed to williams awful clothes. However I do find the double breasted jacket challenging.

And I really enjoyed your description with the tie and trousers 😂.

Rainyswissmountains · Yesterday 11:32

Also where is the comparison photo

CysticWorrier · Yesterday 11:37

He could wear leggings and he still wouldn’t have thighs as good as Count Binface

LlynTegid · Yesterday 11:39

I think you insulted Alan Partridge by the comparison.

What Mr Farage wears is incidental, it is his policies and sources of income that I object to.

I hope Count Binface wins the by-election.

It's how wealthy (and aspiring wealthy) men dressed for smart casual in the 80s, when most of his views were formed.

Was that 1880s..
Oh god can you imagine what an insufferable prick he was in the 80s filofax in hand, hanging about in wine bars etc.

Foot note:he's still an insufferable prick to this day.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · Yesterday 11:56

I genuinely don’t care how he dresses as long as he isn’t in charge of this country

He has some similarity to Alan Partridge but I tend to think of him as more Alan B'Stard. Maybe he doesn't get satire. What will happen when his Corby Trouser Press self destructs?

god no that’s an insult to dear Alan.

i’ve seen Count B’Face referred to on social media in honour of B’Stard which is much nearer the mark. Political satire.

Farage is not fit to lick Alan’s shoes.

RIP Rik.

NF is younger than me and presents himself in cosplay as an imagined retired Lt Col down the golf club sipping a pink gin, despite never serving anything other than his own interests.

My late FIL was a retired Lt Col (of the wartime generation) and despite his fondness for pink gin, did not dress, look or behave like Farage, or espouse his obnoxious views, despite being old enough to be his grandfather.

Vote Binface.

Get what you're saying but the real 80s boy look tended more to jacket and shirt on the top and jeans on the bottom.

Which, God forgive me is still attractive to me (but wouldn't be on NF, who just looks dated anyway because he's an awkward try hard with no real style who was never properly young)

I feel better now 😂

5128gap · Yesterday 19:42

He's got a holiday camp entertainment manager vibe about him. Like he's going to start calling the bingo "Eyes down laydeez and gents its number 10...Andy's den"

JurgenKloppsTeeth · Yesterday 19:45

“Vote for change by voting for me, the incumbent MP, who has done the sum of fuck all for you, the electorate, while lining my own pockets. A vote for me is a vote for the same old shit, but on a different day.”

RedRiverShore6 · Yesterday 19:48

That is how he dresses, a variation is often seen in places like the Cotswolds

Ooh, no, Alan B’stard was sexy. And Nigel is… well, he’s Nigel.

gamerchick · Yesterday 19:50

Isn't this what he usually does though? Become the chameleon? Supports the farmers, dresses like a farmer, pint down the pub for the working man, dresses accordingly and so on.

The bloke is a grifter. The only person farage thinks about is himself.

DontrockthecaravanGeoffrey · Yesterday 20:14

Now the police are investigating the way Reform is funded Nigel can't afford a car to get down to Clacton.

In order to keep campaigning there he's taken a job as a coach driver instead and now Clacton is his regular route and this is his uniform complete with lapel badge bearing his driver number.

Snackccident · Yesterday 20:21

The ham coloured trousers make him look naked underneath the jacket. Nightmare fuel.

He’d stick out a mile in Clacton dressed like that though. It’s not Red Trouser country at all.Confused
