I’m Scottish but lived in England so long and have kids born in England that I consider myself both English and Scottish but I never understood the hated of the majority of Scottish people towards the English, especially when it comes to football, so it’s very refreshing to see your post! Is there still a general hostility towards the England team and everyone cheering for the opposite team in Scotland OP?

The tartan army always give to charity when they go to games abroad. We're not as mean as folks think 😂😂 it is a nice thing to do, quite proud of them doing that actually.

Lovely to see these posts. There's a lot of hate coming from the Scots on social media lately its been quite upsetting. I am English but would always support Scotland if England were knocked out.

There will always be some that don't want England to win but tbh mostly i think it's because the pundits etc banged on about 1966 so much that we got bored listening 🤣 then you've certain individuals who lean towards not being British 🤔. Most folk i know just do it for the banter as you will know we love to banter. I mean we slag ourselves off to bits so makes sense we slag the English. I've always been happy to support England or any uk team so im not sure how serious some folks are.

Football can bring the best and worst out in people (in general, not pointed at anyone).

I have lived in Scotland nearly 30 years. We moved when I was a small child, but I still sound very much English. Scotland is my home but ive had to bite my tongue against comments made this world cup - I dont get hate, the need to be so nasty.

I'll be glad when its over tbh. Although there will be the gloating if they lose tonight and absolute spitting feathers if they win.

Sorry, you've experienced that. It's a horrible side to some blinkered Scottish folks who will be racist to the English quite happily but shout down anyone who dares have a 'racist' thought according to them. Double standards.
Don't bite your tongue, get into them. Tell them 'haud your wheesht bawbag' and if that doesn't work I'll come give you handers! Honestly, its just embarrassing. Thick as mince!

I generally think the people who take it too far are the people who's favourite film is braveheart and think its all factually correct at well...maybe they have blue face paint too 🤔
Its not a hill to die on and it goes both ways, but yes, stupidly when a sporting event is over I'll be relieved haha....
