Who would you back in the increasingly crowded Clacton contest?

The Clacton field is up to about fifteen candidates and it has officially passed satire. The Monster Raving Loony Party - 43 years of deliberate absurdity - are now, structurally, the sensible option: they're up against a bin who's leading the national preference polls and a favourite whose only current job is "Steward of the Manor of Northstead", a manor that has not existed for centuries. (That last bit is real — it's how MPs resign. Farage attacked a space warrior for being fictional while holding an imaginary medieval job.)
The finance site's "racing desk" has done a full form guide of the field:
https://trendingsheet.com/article/runners-and-riders-clacton-form-guide
Their note on the Loonies: "They built this course, and now everyone rides on it." Their betting guidance: "the bin, each way."
Genuinely — who's your money on at this point?

Nominations approach, the field has swollen to fifteen, and the going is soft. Our racing desk assesses the card, including the first sensible vote in Monster Raving Loony history.

A poll would have been nice 😀

Put me and the gang down for Count Binface.

RedToothBrush · 14/07/2026 08:37

Binface 4 The Win

Growlybear83 · 14/07/2026 08:39

I had a bet on Count Binface to win last week when he was still 7/1. 😆

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 14/07/2026 08:40

Will be voting for binface

CountBinfaceForPM · 14/07/2026 08:41

Bin it to win it.

ChuisEpuisee · 14/07/2026 08:42

That form guide made me laugh 😁

LilOleMe2 · 14/07/2026 08:44

Are you asking who we THINK will win or are you asking who we want to win??
Reform will win, personally I don't particularly care!!

Chersfrozenface · 14/07/2026 08:45

I read the racing desk's form guide and noted the name Corbyn on the undercard. Had to check - yes, the certifiable Piers is standing.

Edited for vocab

Coralsunset · 14/07/2026 08:46

Binface all the way!

No way, I assumed that reference was a joke! Hang on...is Martin Bell making a comeback too?!

SilkenFry · 14/07/2026 08:53

Being aggressive and contemptuous toward online doesnt look so safe now that we know that psychopaths are reading the vitriol and taking it as permission to bludgeon to death.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 14/07/2026 08:57

Binny McBinface for me.

What are the actual Clayton residents saying at this point?

I think we knew prior to AW's murder that psychopaths don't usually need permission to do terrible things.

I'm not saying there isn't an enormous problem with attitudes and rhetoric towards elected reps and candidates online (and elsewhere), but this specific thread wouldn't be where I'd focus my efforts, personally.

On the BBC's more straight-faced list.

To be fair, the headline reads "A bin, a Fox and a fish finger: The candidates fighting Clacton" so the Beeb is not totally devoid of humour.

Could you explain how you know that daily exposure to widespread spewing of contempt doesn’t tip closet psychopathology into overt action?

keepswimming38 · 14/07/2026 09:26

The bin to win 🏅

Excellent

Chersfrozenface · 14/07/2026 09:30

Laughing at candidates in an election that looks more and more like a comedy sketch isn't contempt, and it certainly isn't incitement to violence.

SleeplessInWherever · 14/07/2026 09:31

I quite like the idea of a fish finger winning.

Well no, because a) I don't have to and b) that's not what I'm saying.

DancingPhantom · 14/07/2026 10:22

I don't live anywhere near Clacton but it'd be voting for Binface if I did!

Tabarnak · 14/07/2026 10:25

Bin FaceTime.

I am exasperated at the other attention seeking ‘novelty’ candidates. They will split the vote and rob Clacton of the ultimate power of satire.

GoneWithTHeWindJammers · 14/07/2026 10:27

Binface over Frogface every time
